Calgary Public Library for Android
I like the functionality of the app, but I don't like the look. It feels clunky and outdated. I think a streamlined look would suit the app better.
I was so excited to be able to use this app instead of going to the website each time. First of all it keeps telling me my pin or user is invalid which it isn't. Secondly I wanted to explore some new books and you can't even read the description of the book. I can see the author, ratings, year published, locations, but I can't even read what it's about which makes the whole point of exploring new books pointless. Don't get me wrong I live the library and go there quite often but the app is useless.
Calgary public library is the greatest and so is this app.
What a complete waste of time. Almost makes me want to go back to my old iPhone, just so I can use the excellent iOS version of this app. Hey developers: key user functionality is an easily accessible "my account" section. Including checked out items and due dates at a minimum. When can we expect this? Soon? Please?
This is perfect!
Version 4.0 running on Samsung Galaxy S5. Nice one!
This is faster than the website cuz u just click the app and it opens, rather than go to Google, search it up and logging in again and again. This actually remembers me so I don't have to login again. I don't get why people says it's slow, it works fine on my android phone. But I guess the website is easier to work with.
Doesn't update renwals on screen. Slow. Website on phone works much better. Needs improvement
Have you ever wanted to experience the glacial speed of the library catalogue computers on your mobile device? Well now you can! Wait for minutes to complete tasks that should take seconds! Have a nap while you wait for your books to renew! Seriously slow is seriously fun! (Just use the website)
I don't really see the point in using this app, it doesn't give much info. I would only use it to renew books? I'll more than likely just use the website. I want to see more than what books have been purchased. I want to see a calendar with activities, a navigation menu.
It take forever to load thumbnails. The search function finally started working once the I had the app open for a while. This app needs some work.
The app seems very slow, and I can't view new titles in my category of choice (science fiction). The refine button lead me to believe I might be able to select the genre from there, but this seemed to do nothing. Overall, I'm not too impressed, although I will use this app for the barcode feature when checking out books.
Only thing thats bothering me is that it takes to long to load "my borrowings", I don't want to wait 45 seconds to find out if I have a book late. I wanna know as soon as I can when I open the app. Other than that the apps pretty good.
Read it to my 4 year old Granddaughter several times & had to renew as she wanted to read it more. She remembers the story & makes her own stories up with the pictures as well.
registered for a library card online but says have to print library card. I don't have a printer. you should be able to sign up for a library card through this app.
Great app but how can I renew my books/dvds? And how can i put on hold stuff?
I'm just going to use the mobile site instead. It at least is functional.
App is absolutely garbage!!!
It's ridiculously slow.
I personally love the library and this app made my love for books grow even more
Slow, unhelpful, badly designed, trouble logging in. A pain to use.
Missing a couple of features from the internet-based app but very handy to use.
Old mobile app was better/faster. Takes forever to load items checked out now & HATE how ebooks are mixed in (makes it hard to renew real books). Renewing should be front & center and not a hidden menu item? Also we used to be able to renew more than one item at once... not anymore? Did I mention its SLOW? Catalogue search = poor. Particularly ebooks - all it seems to be able to do is list books but no link to where you can actually borrow/hold it. What's the point? Pretty useles, buggy & needs work.
The app is around for about half a year, but no improvements. It is very slow. It defeats a purpose of mobile app that should be designed to use on the go, be light and fast. If I want the full functionality I can just use my PC.
This app is not very user friendly. It isn't readily apparent how to access a user's account to see checked-out items or holds. I think I'll likely go to the library's website from the browser on my phone. This app could really use a sidebar menu of some sort for easier navigation.
I downloaded this app purely so I could download and read e books on my phone, as was described in the app details. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem possible through the app and the FAQ doesn't even mention the possibility, never mind give instructions on how to do it. Very disappointing. I'm uninstalling.
Slow to open every page as others pointed out but still useful. Also, access to holds and other items is hidden in the option menu. Seems to be a standard ago created by biblio commons and used by several public libraries across North America, so one would expect something better than this at this point.
Slow loading , unresponsive

I like that I can renew my books and do searches all with this app.
As noted, it is very good for accessing the library's catalogue. However, I actually spend more time using the e-services. I have yet to find a way to find a way to access online newspapers (one of my primary uses), which had been dead simple with the mobile internet version. Until this rather large chunk is added, I can only give 3 stars
This app has gotten a new look and looks great. It's slow and buggy, but what else can you expect from a new app? I love it and it is one of my apps I use most on my phone. The only thing that could make it better would to make a search bar, or to make it more visible.
I like the design of the new app.
This is perfect!
I think this app is a good start. It is convenient and simple. And it just eliminated another card from my wallet! Thanks! I would like to see how this app evolves as I don't think it's quite complete. It would be nice to have more integration with the Library's e-library services. And a big suggestion would be to have the app recommend good reads and content based on my interests... not reviews (or seemingly randomness). Or perhaps the choice of either. All and all, it's a keeper! Thanks!
Glad that library is going digital with this app.

I liked this app but it crashes every time I open it now. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it didn't help. Too bad because it's much easier to use than the mobile site.
