BHN Home Security and Control for Android
The beauty of a mobile app is allowing you to do things remotely. The ability to view security camera remotely is key to this app for me. However since running Marshmallow (the latest standard OS release for Android) the option is broken. Bright House appears to not know how to fix this, or they do not care, as it's been months since Marshmallow release/Update and BH has not fixed their app. They also have a vertical keypad displayed that scrolls off the screen. 1 star until fixes are implemented.
App doesn't work with Android version 7.0. This app was last updated Jan. 2016 which seems a bit strange for an app designed to help you monitor your security system. You'd expect a large company like brighthouse or spectrum to pay more attention to these details and have adequate resources to help cover the cost for ongoing development, especially to help remain compatible with the frequent Android system updates. In short, mega fail on the company. - not the developers who are probably underpaid and obviously short staffed.
Last couple of weeks i have noticed the video not working. Please fix asap...... i have a Motorola droid turbo 2. Previously had Samsung s6 and it stopped working too. Please the key pad entry to a square not in a line!!!! Now I cant even sign in. The keyboard comes up but nothing types. Please help
They broke the pin keyboard a few moths ago and it's still not fixed. You have to scroll to reach the higher number keys. It's ridiculous. I'm about to switch to another company that has working mobile app. Update: can't even log into the app anymore. Calling them to cancel tomorrow.
Keep getting error on camera feed and key pad is annoying now. When first downloaded app it was nice but more and more it's not working. Seems like this issue has been going on for a while. BHN needs to get it together or I'll go else where. I'm tired of paying for a service That doesn't seem to be working
Unfortunately the app no longer works on my Samsung 7. Initially I thought it was the app itself but I think it may be the phone. I have an iPhone 7s phone that I use for work and the app works just fine on it. I tried the cut and paste technique as mentioned in some of the other reviews but it still didn't work. Hoping maybe a Samsung update can fix this problem.
If you're experiencing a problem logging in with the S8 (or any new phone, I'd imagine), I found a solution... Open your notepad, type out your user name and password (with a space in between each) and copy both together to the clipboard. Then long press inside the user name field on the BH app and paste. Both your user name and password will paste here, but then cut your password from the user field and paste it in the password field. Sucks... but problem solved.
Used to work week but suddenly stopped working on my Samsung Galaxy Note 5. I upgraded to a Galaxy S8+ and it still won't work. The app would not allow me to enter an id or password. Is the app no longer supported with the Spectrum purchase of Brighthouse?
Sole purpose of having a home security system through Brighthouse is having the ability to monitor your home away from home via cell phone unfortunately since the new update this function has ceased with no indication of a fix. BHN you are failing your customers, please do make us go with the competition. Help!
The app doesn't allow me to look at a live feed. Every time I click the camera it says "Error Obtaining Video Image." It freezes on whatever was in front of the camera and will not move unless I exit out open it again but it always freezes. I called bright house months ago, they said its a glitch Androids have and they are fixing it. At this point it seems they could care less about Android users as long as the bills get paid. I will be going to ADT very soon.
Keypad was changed in Google Apps which makes is difficult to enter your code also always has an issues stating unable to obtain camera or video images which has never been fixed. These items should have been corrected a long time ago. Not happy with this app but this is the only on available for the Brighthouse security at the moment. Please fix!!!!!!!!
I'm paying for high quality of protection services an I do not receive that. An two of my cameras have not been working (they have been down since July ) correctly and I'm not satisfied with the service of this app it always say "error obtaining video". Do you have another way that I can OBTAIN better service?
Bright house told me they know we can't view video after the marshmellow and they have no plans to address or locate the issue. They blame it on samsung. Fyi, we are on our own. Someone should leverage social media to share how we are being treated.

Doesn't function properly and developer doesn't seem to care. Very frustrating. I'm very close to leaving for another company. I've reached out several times, even with suggestions on how to correct the issues with the app and the number display with no feedback.
If I could give it zero stars I would. My s7edge updated its OS last week, and now I can t even log into the app to set my alarm because BHN is so behind the times. I've had the security for a year and for more than half that time (since i got a new pgone) have been unable to view anything but stills on my on home cameras because their app doesn't support newer Android OS. Now the newest OS won't even access this app. As if not having capabilities to view cameras outside your home or having recorded footage isn't bad enough. Just too many reasons I am in the process of getting a new home security carrier.
I haven't been able to view camera on the app for about a year. Which they said was a problem on the Android side that they could fix, which I didn't really buy, but A for effort. Now I can't even sign into the app. Which truly makes the whole security system useless.
Error with camera streaming on samsung phones..... Apparently there maybe issue with samsung due to update. It freeze frames the video however I have app downloaded on business phone that happens to be an LG phone and it streams perfectly!
Can't even log in since getting S8+. Won't let me enter the login data. Things have gone down hill with this since Spectrum took over and they are no longer offering home security unless you still have it. No new customer so when I move its back to ADT or someone else. This is part of the reason I have stayed with them after all these years. Oh well, bye soon.
I have the same issue as numerous other reviews: error obtaining video image. I have been unable to view video for a couple of months, and I've tried on both a Samsung Galaxy S5 and S7. BHN told us that they aren't responsible for this app.
Video does not work for Samsung Galaxy S7. Fix please! Still not fixed. About to turn off service and switch alarm companies. Someone called me when I first posted this and I was told anyway now. We'll here we are weeks later......
After recent update. It will not allow me to sign into my account. It sucks because if I should leave home and forget to set my alarm. I would have go into website instead with take longer.
Don't waste your money. Cameras don't work with marshmallow. That Is the whole reason for having the cameras and you can not access them remotely. This has been an issue for over a year. BHN will not update the app or fix the problem. Now that they are spectrum. They still have no plans for a fix. I am going with simply safe. Paying for a service that don't work is just nuts.
The app won't let me enter my login info at all so it's basically unusable. I might reinstall if the issue gets resolved.
Worthless. We are all being completely ignored by the Brighthouse tech people. Not sure how they still have jobs....I Can't even login to use this poor app. No one is embarrassed at Brighthouse over this app? Don't blame it on android since other security companies, including TWC/spectrum, have much better reviews
Camera feed has been down for many months. Last time I called the rep said a update would arrive before June 1st, 2017....... Well it didn't and we keep paying for something that does not work. Huge Fail Spectrum.

Not working properly on Mashmellow, keypad not displaying vertically, instead of a number keypad. Devices with older visions of Android do not have this problem.
Got new marshmallow update and the camera part stopped working. Keeps say error in obtaining info. Please fix asap
Now that my Samsung S5 was updated to Marshmallow the BHN Security shows error obtaining video. Please fix this bug.
Motion detected in my home. 3 emails and 3 texts to 2 phones and a phone call to us who were not home BUT no one called the cops but reset the alarm! I am DONE!
Camera feed doesn't work on our new 27th and the keyboard is horrible please give us back the old keyboard and how bout giving us an update on a fix for the camera issue rather then leaving us in the dark about it.
I'm not even sure if I can give it functional considering the poor performance of the app itself, but they haven't been bothered to do any major ui updates in what seems to be years. It's the only app I actually dread using because it's such an eyesore. Please, other bright house apps are not nearly as bad as this; bring this app into 2016 with material design.
The keypad now has numbers in vertical formation which makes it difficult to enter your security code especially if you walk in and have to hit the code in the delay period. PLEASE FIX!!!!

My live camera keeps saying ERROR OBTAINING VIDEO IMAGE . It worked fine with my Samsung Note 5 but it doesn't work on my new Samsung S7 Edge. Please make update for this as soon as possible.

This was an awesome app when I first had it installed for well over $500 several months ago however ever since Google updated and didn't share info to third parties, it does not work AND Brighthouse Bill's me for services that I cannot use and each month I'm on the phone 30 minutes to have my bill adjusted. calling to have them pick up their equipment seems they don't care to fix issues. Been patient long enough!
