Limitly Screen Time Control

A very good idea, but too unreliable, blocks apps when it shouldn't and doesn't limit them when it should. If an update could fix those problems I might continue using it.

[updated] The best part of this app is time limits for a group of apps. I've been waiting for this feature from any app vendor and here it is, finally. All "Games" can be limited while leaving other apps (say, Camera or a music player) unrestricted. However, the actual blocking is VERY buggy. One app group has an hour allocated every day, but all its apps are already blocked first thing in the morning. It counts the time that an app is in the background. It often puts up a screen that says Facebook is being blocked, even though Facebook isn't running (even in the background) -- and it claims that I've opened Facebook 70+ times even though I haven't opened it once. And once you've put an app in a group, it no longer reports time spent in the app. It just says how many times you've opened it. So: promising start, but still rough and buggy.

App does not count active minutes (all permissions granted) and therefore does not block app when time limit reached.

Never accepted my pin. Useless.

It wants permission to "do a factory reset and erase all data without warning" !!!!!!

This is a great idea, not just for children but also for adults who want to limit their own smartphone usage. Unfortunately, I'm experiencing a major problem that limits its usefulness. I have created a group of apps, which I would like to limit by time usage (30mins per day). However, when I wake up in the morning, the apps in the group are already blocked, even though I haven't used the phone yet that day. This might be a problem with the time the usage count resets each day. A couple of smaller issues. Firstly, if you use the PIN to unblock an app, the app is blocked again after 10-15 seconds, which is annoying. Also it would be nice to have a countdown timer showing you how much longer you have before the apps will be blocked. Last thing, the screen that appears when an app is blocked shows two messages with slightly different wording telling you that the app has been blocked. Only one message is necessary. If these problems were resolved, this is an app I would be willing to pay for.

How to setup limit less than 1 hour? for example 30 minutes Selector does not allow select 0 hours

Loses one star because there is no option to copy your settings from day to day. You have to individually set each app or app group for each day of the week. There is no "copy" option. Edit-removed another star because when you try to limit by period, and you add another period, it changes the end time on previous period. *edit- removed remaining stars and would give 0 if I could. Locks up phone. Drains battery. Will not uninstall. Reporting to Google play.

Well it's a cool idea for an app but sadly it didn't work for me. All the apps I scheduled to be blocked can still be open....soooo yeah.

Amazing App. This is exactly what I've been looking for. You can block apps by total time usage, for example 10 mins on Monday, 30 mins on Tuesday etc. You can also allow usage by time windows ex. 3pm-5pm on Mondays etc. I absolutely love the feature that you can turn on to block newly downloaded apps until you unblock them. This is a very important feature that I haven't been able to find on any other app. For me, this app is almost perfect but I do have one suggestion. It would be nice to be able to combine time usage and time window filtering. For example, I want to allow 30 minutes usage for an app on Monday, but I also want it to be available to use only at a certain time of the day. So it would be cool to give a time window like 12pm to 4pm for example, and in that 4 hour time window, the app can only be used for 30 minutes and is blocked at any time out of the time window even if 30 minutes wasn't used in that 12pm to 4pm window.

Provides u with all advance options which give u a lot of control over which app to block when or after how much time... I am recommending this app to everyone in my circle since it is very useful and free! Thank you limitly...

Love that it allows grouping by category. Works OK but quarantine mode for new apps doesn't seem to work which makes it kind of useless unless you disable play store. What would make this app perfect would be if they just got rid of quarantine mode and instead allowed you to choose a default category for all new apps to automatically be assigned to. Also wish I could set weekly instead of daily limits.

It has a mind of its own and now i cant even set up limits it asks if i want to monotor even more and wont clear off. (Mom)

This worked well for about 2 days then stopped working altogether, doesn't block apps anymore. Now I can't uninstall. Tried deactivating through playstore. But won't work.

At first, the interface may be a bit confusing, but 15 minutes later you’re a pro. Most of all I like to customize time limit or block messages – already changed them 4 times in 3 weeks, from funny to serious and back. Remarkably, kids like those messages too.

Probably, anyway to limit smartphone or tablet usage by kids you might think about can be executed by combining Limitly's wide range of features. At the same time, it is really simple to set up. Quarantine mode that blocks all new apps automatically is an absolute must use. It's a pity that the app doesn't support iOS :(. Overall these drawbacks can't beat all positive features that this free app has.

I installed it to concentrate better, but now it was just annoying and I tried to uninstall it, and it isn't working at ALL

This is great for setting schedules for when children are allowed to use their devices. It also has app locks. I love the multiple schedules. I set a before school time and after school time. Different times for weekends.

After instal and setting up the limits on mi4, it doesnt work even after I reboot the phone. Pls advise

Please add an option to select the week as a whole, adjusting the amount of time for seven times is kinda hell.

Although it's possible to protect from removal, but the Device Administration is easily disabled, and removing the app is very easy. The ideas to use Limitly. 1.Parental control to control the time children play games. 2.Examination is around the corner and you can't put down your phone, ask your friend to assign a pin and voila PRODUCTIVITY BOOST!! Really like this app so far. Easy to install, easy to use. My son hates it. One feature I would love to see would be limiting time access by group. For example, I want to limit my kid to 30 minutes of games per day, but I don't really care which games he plays. I can limit three individual games to 30 minutes, but then he can play for 90 minutes total. Or I can limit each game to 10 minutes for a total of 30, but that limits his flexibility if he only wants to play one game. So putting them in one group and limiting total time of the group to 30 minutes is the kind of flexibility I'm looking for.

My daughter used to spend hours playing on her new Samsung instead of studying, so I started to look for a solution to regulate her time. Limitly has a clean interface and neat useful features (limiting apps and categorizing them for bulk daily schedule was most helpful for me). It took about 20 min to set the app on daughter’s phone. She wasn’t happy (to put it mildly) but I believe that’s what she needs now to stay focused on her exams. Will definitely recommend Limitly to my older son for his preschooler

I've tried to uninstall because I no longer need & it won't let me delete it from my phone.

Limitly blocks unauthorised apps quite quickly. Device schedule is still not functioning. I would not trust it to block settings yet because it is still somewhat accessible. Edit: I only had "limit by period" set, so there is no way the settings could contradict each other. Limit by period does not work. Limit by time seems to record time when the device is not in use.

app keeps crashing, had such hopes, didn't ask for all access like many other apps, it renders itself an administrator but then would not deactivate to uninstall. Had to put the app on to uninstall through the settings in the app, can't uninstall from play or app manager

Where's the instructions? Is 9am to 3pm the time the device is available or blocked? I tried to set a time limit of 120 minutes, but no sooner than the display times out he's running to me to unblock it.

Thays a great app, but its missing bulk time limits. For example I want 5 apps to have a limit of 15 minutes a day every single day. Will you have this feature soon?

I only wish my daughter could use for example tablet for 2hrs a day and she could choose the apps she wants to use . After 2 hrs of using it the tablet is blocking itself and that's it. That would be great. Is it possible???

Made password for limiter and forgot password

Great app only one major bug by default on the Huawei p8lite it clears the app in memory so even if the time limit is up after a while the app gets cleared from memory and the app gets bypassed

Not set it up yet as it needs to wipe data from phone, not sure why it would need to do this. Change this please devs

Even though I set daily limit for 2 hrs my daughter keeps coming to me because tablet is blocked after 1min of use. So I need to unblock it couple times before it work right way. Also next day you need to unblock it again even there are no limits. ONLY TIME BY LIMITS is used.
