天主常選用卑微弱小的人，完成光明偉大的事業。聖若望鮑思高之所以能夠成為十九世紀的偉人，就是因為他一生奉行了九歲奇夢中聖母的教訓：做一個謙遜的人。他出身卑微：他本來是義大利北部碧基地方的一個牧童。因為終身謙遜自下，天主就舉揚他，使他成為一位偉人；不但利用他創立了許多不朽的事業，而且在他身上完成了聖德的傑作，使他成為聖教會裏一位偉大的聖人。


聖若望鮑思高也是一位偉大的教育家。在許多國家裏，聖人也被立為青年工人的主保。現代的青年正需要聖人去教育他們，指導他們，使他們遠避無神唯物等歧途，走向信仰光明的大道，這是一件極艱鉅的事。我們希望全能的天主還要利用祂的忠僕聖若望鮑思高，完成這件偉大的事業.這樣，聖若望鮑思高雖死猶生，繼續他的偉大工作，榮主救靈，成為永遠不朽的偉人。 God often used weak humble person, complete light great cause.
