Anchor Chain Counter

This application allows you to measure the anchor chain length that has been deployed or retrieved from a boat by analyzing the sound pattern created by the anchor chain. The core of this application is an algorithm that analyses the frequency spectrum and patterns within the recorded sound signal in order to determine the speed of the anchor chain. The total amount of anchor chain deployed/retrieved is then calculated from the chain speed and information about the particular anchor chain used. It also has a filtering algorithm which has been optimized to filter out wind and other noise signals.

The application measures the length of the deployed/retrieved anchor chain indirectly and is therefore always subject to error. It is also important to note that the performance of the application varies with many factors, for example, the type of boat used and the surrounding noise level.
