About Unlock With WiFi

Unlock With WiFi is now free! Thank you to all my customers who have supported me over the years. I no longer have time to support this app, so I made it free for everyone. Enjoy!

ANNOUNCEMENT: This app has a successor named SkipLock. It is similar to Unlock With WiFi, but with some major new features.

For a full explanation of why SkipLock was created, see this blog post: http://benhirashima.com/posts/the-rebirth-of-unlock-with-wifi/

Tired of entering your password every time you turn on your phone? Unlock With WiFi™ unlocks your phone when you're connected to your home WiFi network. When you're at home, or work, you don't need to worry about losing your phone, so why should you have to enter your password?

Unlock With WiFi is the leading password convenience app on the market. It's focus is on reliability, quality, and a great user experience. The setup wizard makes it easy to setup, and helpful dialogs are displayed if something isn't quite right.

How it works:

When you get home and connect to your WiFi network, your device will unlock. Then when you leave, and the WiFi disconnects, the device will lock again. You have to enter your password the first time after you connect to your WiFi network. This is so that if someone steals or finds your phone, they can't just bring it to your house to unlock it. After you enter your password once while connected to your WiFi network, you won't have to enter it again until you leave/disconnect. This is great for SMS texting!

Additional Features:

You can also set a lock delay, for when you're not at home. The default delay is set to 5 seconds (you can adjust it), so when you turn the screen off, the device won't lock until 5 seconds have passed. That way, if you remember something you forgot to do, you can turn it back on without entering your password. This feature is considered experimental at this time. It works on most devices, but isn't guaranteed to work on all devices.

There are also battery saving options to:

Turn off WiFi when you leave home
Turn on Bluetooth when you leave home
Turn off Bluetooth when you get home
Turn off Auto Sync when you leave home
Turn on Auto Sync when you get home
WidgetLocker integration

IMPORTANT: To uninstall this app, you must select Uninstall from the menu inside the app. The normal way won't work if device admin mode is enabled.

The DEV must want to get rich quick... We paid for the APP.. why are you trying to pull fast one on us? Shame on you... No longer support you.

T70%
by T####:

I read your rationale for the product split - and - sorry I don't agree. You are not the first to have this need - and other devs have done the same - preserving our premium paid status - even after splitting off to a new product (Check RadarNow!). Also, Google Play accommodates the distribution of different code - based on OS version. Your analysis of options was incomplete and could have been handled in a number of other equitable ways. Look .99 isn't much - but your explanation is total BS.

Its a joke. I've paid for UWW. Now i have to pay for an update. I've installed the SL trial and after 2 minutes it said my trial has expired. Nice.

First the app quits working when I activate the new Android remote service, then find out he abandoned this for a new app and is charging most users again. Why do only new users get the replacement free and not us loyal long term users? Off my phone it goes.

This app was a great idea and worked well, however I've been prompted to write a review due to the developer deciding to snub his existing customers. Why you would choose to penalise earlier adopters escapes me. I wouldn't have minded but the developers attitude is remarkably dismissive and aloof.

This in reference to the developer trying to double dip us consumers because he's a greedy POS, instead of supporting people who already paid for this app. Note to self and others - DO NOT SUPPORT THIS DOUCHEBAG DEVELOPER!

Z70%
by Z####:

The developer gave me a copy of skiplock, kinda. Free version that he claims won't time out. Regardless , this version is much better and more stable . Skip lock let me completely bypass the security and get into settings to disable it as a device manager. Luckily this older version still works flawlessly.

Z70%
by Z####:

....but no free upgrade for loyal users. Bad, bad, bad, also very greedy! I'll be finding an alternative app

Z70%
by Z####:

Actually I dont understand the harsh critics about the new product to be newly bought. Those who bought this old app can continue to use it, for me it's working perfect. Is there an expectation for life time enhancments for free? Greg.

If you want to rewrite a buggy application that's fine, just bring the people that paid good $$ along. Think it is very uncool to stop supporting an application that costs $5. So much for the $50,000 the developer has made on this application. I paid $4.99 for this and it never worked properly on my Galaxy Nexus. Works ok on my new S4. No, I did not buy in the last month. So I'm SOL. Developer is driven by $$. Don't buy this.

Z70%
by Z####:

Really you should support paid users, not make them pay again. Bought this over a year ago so no point in the generic 1 month reply. Re- think your policy. Poor poor poor.

Z70%
by Z####:

Developer Ben Hirashima charges $5 to update his apps. Makes an app only to charge for simple updates under a new app name. Learn to be loyal to your paying customers! 2 years or 2 months should not matter! Why stick with an app that *doesn't work*? This app does not work my galaxy s4 4.4 Keep away from this developer.

Z70%
by Z####:

Poor choice by the developer to make people pay again! Yes I read your explanation but I don't agree, I brought this on android v4 (NOT within the last few months) and you simply want me to pay again. I think the better option would be to drop v2 support and provide a free upgrade. (Even having a free v2 app separately if needed)

The notification is a bit annoying but a useful app. Emailed about upgrade for a 25th Oct purchase, hope I get the free upgrade as that is within the 2 months.

Z70%

Earlier this was not good. But after an update (not this update) it is Ok. Now again u r asking us to update. Do I need to pay again? I have purchased long time back. So I need to pay again? I am ok with present functionality.

Z70%

Since I upgraded to Android 5.0.1 this paid app no longer works. How can i get a refund?

Z70%
by Z####:

My nexus 5 works poorly with this. After 3 of years of excellent use on other phones it now refuses to accept a time delay on the loss of signal. Even small losses of signal means I have to enter my password. Messages to Ben using the approved method seem to have no effect. It's disappointing as otherwise it's a great app.

This should be standard on all android phones. Until this is baked into the OS spend the money and buy this app.

One of my most used apps but the dev rewrote it and renamed it "SkipLock". When you do that you just update this to the new app for free for your loyal paying customers NO MATTER WHEN THEY BOUGHT IT. The "if you bought it in the last 2 months you get a free update" is stupid, your just making us madder. Your making people think your greedy and dishonest. I dont believe that. Your app is great. Do the right thing and UPDATE THIS FOR FREE TO SKIPLOCK. Then charge your new customers for it. It will sell.

Sad to see you kick loyal customers by offering no upgrade path. App now not working since upgrade. Poor show.
