About SkipLock

Tired of entering your password all the time? SkipLock lets you skip past the lock screen when you're connected to a designated wifi or bluetooth device. When you're at home or in your car, your phone is safe and you don't need to be typing in your password all the time. When you're connected to your wifi network, or a trusted bluetooth device, you can go straight to the home screen when you press the power button. You can even have it keep the phone unlocked while you're connected to a bluetooth smartwatch, headset, or car. As soon as the phone gets out of range, it locks.

SkipLock is the leading password convenience app on the market. It's focus is on reliability, quality, and a great user experience. The setup wizard makes it easy to setup, and helpful dialogs are displayed if something isn't quite right. Forget about trying to use Tasker or Llama for this. SkipLock is way easier!

"SkipLock is one of the best applications we have ever tested here at Cult of Android, and we strongly believe that it should be a standard feature on every Android device. Best of all, the application itself has been coded to perfection, which makes it a pleasure to use, and most of the time you don’t even realize it’s there..." - Cult of Android

*** This app is installed as a trial by default. The app is fully functional for 4 days, then you can convert it into the unlimited version with an in-app purchase. There is no separate version or extra download.

SkipLock is the successor to Unlock With WiFi. Major improvements have been made. Here is a full explanation of why I made it a separate app: http://benhirashima.com/posts/the-rebirth-of-unlock-with-wifi/. If you bought Unlock With WiFi within the last two months, please contact me and I will either refund your purchase or give you a free copy of SkipLock.

Some of the features in SkipLock:

- Pattern and face unlock supported on rooted devices
- Completely redesigned Android 4+ user interface
- No background service = less memory usage and more reliable
- No status bar icon required (but it’s still an option). Tray-only notifications also an option.
- If you have notifications enabled, you can tap the notification to instantly lock the device
- Automatically turn on/off wifi
- Automatically turn on/off bluetooth
- Automatically turn on/off sync
- WidgetLocker integration
- Low memory usage and minimal impact on battery life
- Can save your battery if you let it automatically turn off wifi, bluetooth, and sync

Known limitations:

- Does not work with Android Pay, according to user reports
- Does not work on Android 5+. However, Android 5.0 has much of SkipLock's functionality built in now.
- Support for the Galaxy S 5 is only partial at the moment. The fingerprint scanner is not supported. Only patterns work in root mode, but PINs and passwords work in non-root mode.
- Only passwords or PINs are supported on non-rooted devices
- If your employer enforces a password policy on your phone, the app won't work. This is the case for many corporate Exchange users. If your phone is rooted, you may be able to avoid this problem.
- This app doesn't work on phones that have full device encryption enabled.
- The app doesn't unlock when connected to Bluetooth LE devices. Only regular Bluetooth devices.
- Motorola Skip or Dots may not work correctly when SkipLock is installed
- Do not install this app on the SD card. It will not be secure if you do.
- To uninstall, you must select Uninstall from the menu inside the app. The normal way won't work.
- SkipLock is not compatible with TimePin or any other app that controls the lock screen, except for WidgetLocker.

this app works quickly and is easy to navigate. love having my phone unlocked while I'm in familiar places. ONE ADDITION REQUEST:::: when I am in my car, I play/stream music from my phone via auxiliary. When I am on set filming at a place with no wifi I am constantly having to type my password which is a hassle. In both situations, a 'Timer with No Lock' option would be super helpful. I would open the app, and tell it to be unlocked for x amount of minutes. At the end of that duration, the lock would eng

Sometimes though it turns off the WiFi before it has a chance to connect. Turned delay up to 360 but still happens. Still best way to have a secure lock screen except when you don't want it. ABSOLUTELY NO SUPPORT FROM DEV. STILL USEFUL BUT HAS SOME BUGS.

The unlock doesn't seem to work on a samsung note pro and the trial is too short to resolve the problems. I hope you will release the code as open source so that it can be built into the custom roms.

Y70%
by Y####:

After upgrading my Note 3 to 5.0 SkipLock continued to work great. Unfortunately I did a factory reset in an attempt to fix the now-incapacitated Proximity Sensor and am unable to install SkipLock. It works, really! Enable the intall!

by Y####:

I really loved this app. It did as promised: unlocked when connected to wifi, locked when disconnected. I was even working when my S5 went up to Lollipop. Unfortunately I accidentally killed my phone and now can't get this back! Huge loss, great app! Highly recommend!

by Y####:

It is working quite fine, only sometimes it doesn't lock my phone as it should. And I was having some problems on MIUI rom for HTC One S C2.

S70%

Cm12 offers these functions built in, so I don't really need it. However, the developer claims he can't get his app to work on Lollipop but there are other apps with this function that work with lollipop.

If you don't need to secure your phone's screen at home just try this app. I was fed up with typing my password even at home. Apply this feature to whatever wi-fi connection you feel like.

L70%
by L####:

Works great, as usual, but, it doesn't seem to work at night. When I head to bed, it's working fine. When I wake up, it asks for my PIN, then is fine for the rest of the day. I have everything set on the phone to keep Wifi enabled, etc. Strange.

Purchased "Unlock with WiFi" then purchased "SkipLock", upgraded to 5.x (Lollipop) and now have worthless app. Thanks Ben. I know it's not a lot of $$, but this is BuSted, emphasis on the B S

No more password when in familiar wifi hot spots or with my Bluetooth ear phone. Samsung Galaxy S III

Now I have the only feature from 5.x that I longed for without have to upgrade from my very stable 4.4.4 phone.

Trying a different product. Waste of money

Y70%

None of the passwords associated with my phone will unlock it. Had to completely erase phone including memory card. Do not download.

This app is just great! It does what it's supposed to do and the pricing - while quite high for an app - is appropriate. People running around with phones far above 500 EUR complaining about that pricing is absurd. Especially when it comes with an evaluation period of a week. If you like it and you're okay with the price tag, buy it. If you think the pricing's to hefty, just don't. EDIT (the following is already possible, just don't check the all networks checkbox): However, I'd appreciate it if there was another option for when it detects multiple WLANs - I don't want to activate SkipLock just by the network's SSID. Why not just let me add another WLAN with the same SSID but another MAC address? That would be the 5th star :)

FIX THE BUG! Installed on Galaxy 4S. It used to unlock in preset WiFi but it does not longer do it. It forces to reset the password in order to work again.

Does exactly what it says installed on SAM NOTE4 K.K. 4.4.4 easy to set up no more lock screen issues while driving and streaming!!

Convenient to key on home wifi. I am resisting "upgrade" from kitkat to lollipop and smart unlock is the only thing where I felt a lack.

It would be ideal if Skiplock can detect I have turn on mobile hotspot so it will not try to connected to Wifi.

This app will not work and I even emailed the developer with no response. Think twice before paying for the pro version.

I have no idea how to delete this app. Im scared it's gonna lock me out of my phone.

Interestingly I've found that on my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Skiplock does seem to work even after the upgrade to Lollipop. At least the WiFi detection portion works. I'm not sure why given so many other people saying it doesn't work for them after the upgrade to Lollipop. I'm glad it does because the new Trusted Places feature of Lollipop doesn't handle WiFi detection, only geographical location, and that doesn't seem to work correctly for me when I'm inside a building. This is the case on my wife's Note 4 after upgrade to Lollipop as well.

I don't know when you will stop development of this app due to compatibility issues with lollipop, but if you are still looking to add features I would like to skip the lock with only a wifi network being detected but not connected.

This is the only app I've found that reliably disables the pin code when it's not needed. I wish it would work with Android 5 as this worked reliably and Smart lock in Lollipop is close to useless.

Superb app. Only 2 suggestions. Time based lock/unlock method? I don't want a locked screen after 22:00 while I'm not connected to any Wifi or Bluetooth. 2. Turn on Mobile Data when disconnected from wifi. EACH FEATURE STANDS FOR A STAR.

Do NOT install this app! Locked me out of my phone today ... according to the FAQ a 'rare bug.' Was not able to unlock it with Android Device Manager. Had to Factory Reboot my phone losing most of my data. If you value your data stay far away from this app!

At last, an unlocker that just works! Tried others, they work intermittently at best. This one recognises my Pebble Smartphone as well as all my networks. Thank you for a great app.

It was working fine in 4.x and a few days ago T-Mobile pushed out Android 5.0.1 to my samsung galaxy note 4. Still works fine. The play store on my phone, though, says it's incompatible and won't even let me do a review from the phone. I'm going to backup the apk in case it gets wiped by some forced uninstall via the store.

I had hopes that Google's SmartLock would have brought all the glorious functionality of SkipLock, but like most enhancements from Google, they're a bit off the mark. SkipLock just worked. End of story. SmartLock is a clusterf&&k that only works with Bluetooth and NFC. Where the heck is the option for Trusted Wi-Fi? Now it turns out there's a bug or problem with Home and Work locations that result in unpredictable performance from SmartLock. I really think Google should be talking to Ben and figuring out a way to either fix their sad imitation or to allow SkipLock to work on 5.0 and above.

I hate passwords, locks, lines, PINs and anything else that slows me down! This app allows me to bypass the MANDATORY PIN on my Note 3 when I use FoxFi. You see, I don't want someone to save me from myself just because I set up VPN!!! If someone hacks my VPN because I left my phone someplace unattended then ""MY BAD"" and I alone will suffer the consequences! I won't even whine to ANYBODY about it. Thank you infinitely for this APP!!!

Fantastic little app. Works with SlideLock lock screen replacement too, probably because it uses default android security methods.

Effective app which although expensive actually works and does not appear to hog the battery. Would've been five stars bar the price.

This app allows me to keep my phone locked when it needs to be: when I am out and about with it. But at home, at my family's homes, or when on Bluetooth in my car, it remains conveniently unlocked. Thanks!
