About Belarc Security Advisor

*** News: Thousands of Android apps fail to validate SSL certificates ***

US CERT has recently identified about 3,400 Android apps to date that do not properly validate SSL certificates, leaving them open to Man in the Middle (MITM) attacks. Possible outcomes are credential stealing or arbitrary code generation. Use the Belarc Security Advisor to automatically check to see if you have any of these vulnerable apps.

Move into the 21st century of computer security. Signature based methods such as anti-virus, anti-malware, and anti-spyware offered good enough security in the past, but today many attacks are not stopped by these methods. One reason is because the threats change faster than the anti-virus or malware signatures can be updated. Security experts say that the best way to achieve security is to make sure your installed apps and operating system are not vulnerable to attacks or malicious software.

Belarc's Security Advisor does this by automatically checking your Android tablet or phone for thousands of security vulnerabilities in both the operating system and installed apps, and gives you the result in seconds as to which ones are vulnerable and need to be updated. The Security Advisor also works with all other security apps such as anti-virus and anti-malware apps.

A "black" storm, refers to a "black "hat (hackers) that attach "bugs"or "worms," within your computer and cellphone. Henceforth, they can seek out anything and everything about you and your partner, family members, friends, relatives and business. Right before your eyes, heck, they're remote controlling the car's control systems, now, as I've seen on tv. So stay informed, alert and be aware of things about you . Don't be fooled, you might be next !!!

Now that it told me the vulnerabilities, what to do to remedy the situation? I can't uninstall the os! At the mercy of the manufacturers. That's as bad as being at the mercy of MS for Windows Updates. Making me rethink the wisdom of using Android devices. Or maybe I should say the lack of wisdom.

Good app to keep my phone secure. But where can I find the list of "over 1850 known security vulnerabilities"?

L70%
by L####:

I have used this on my android phone for about a year. And except for the initial scan this has not found any issues lately. I have antivirus and Anti-Malware programs and update all Os and apps as appropriate. Wish this app had more features or let u manually update definitions. Great to have as additional security tool.

I have used this for years on pc's and couldn't do what I do without it....now I use it on all my devices. I started when the 'desktop' was a simple black screen. From then till now, I have never had a virus, this app is just one of my arsenal, all of which are free!!!

Its been over 8 months since the last update, in a year where there have been more security vulnerabilities than you can count on both hands... False sense of security for anyone who doesn't work in IT like myself, or doesn't follow the latest news.

It's decent but hasn't been updated in nearly one year. Not sure how well a security app is able to protect a device if it isn't updated regularly...?

Until I find a vulnerability, 4. OK. The value system should be on at least a 10 point scale, in fact, since we're such advanced talking apes, how bout we have a rating scale of 0-100. I have always found a 79 or an 89 a much more informative score. Belarc, because of my long experience with it's PC app, should get a 98, however, the results of the scan only tell me the phone and the current OS. What about all the other gizmos in this phone?

It will be much appreciated, if you provide the names of the vulnerable apps. Kindly try it. Thanks.

However, since the useless 4.4.4 update was forced upon phone, I can no longer click on a vulnerability to get more info, says unable to open Web browser...if u can fix will change to 5, it's a very useful n informative app!

I've used Belarc on my pc's for a long time and. I'm happy I can add it to my devices now because the androids os is full of vulnerabilities! !
