Plant Diary for Android
Best app I've used so far. The large gap between the plants once an alarm has been added makes it difficult to find plants. Some sort of tab, or dropdown when you click on a plant to show the alarms would make it perfect
Great! Suggestion: Needs a general notes field. eg. "Changed lighting - Transplanted entire crop" & a "select all and update" option so, eg. when watering ther3 is no need to update each plant, what if i had an acre of grapes? i would have to update one each one separately! That would take hours. :(
Great app. I work in a nurery and this app has so far been perfect. I agree an online database of plants would be helpful but I dont mind inputting the information anyway. Im trying to convince my workmates to start using this app too.
This app does exactly what I want it to do, which is to be a free form plant journal which supports photos. However the ui is not very attractive and there are some usability features which would be nice to have, such as a setting to make the primary photo for a plant be the most recent diary photo.
I don't understand... All these apps seem to have no way of saying when a plant has been watered. It's the main reason i want to use this app, but i can't find a button to indicate that the plant has been watered. Probably nice, but I'd lacking that main feature.
This is a very useful app in most respects, but it is heartbreaking to lose all my entered data whenever I switch to a new phone. The capability to backup user-entered data is very badly needed. I am about to upgrade to a new phone again, and will again lose all my data. This is a terrible shortcoming. I will have to look into getting a different plant app due to this ongoing deficit. PLEASE fix this!!!
My biggest complaint is the layout of the main plant page. I only have a handful of different plants but due to improper formatting, I have to scroll through the page as if I own what a nursery would have.
It pretty much satisfies everything I need in a gardening journal but my only problem is that it drains so much of my phone's battery when I'm using it to log down my daily recordings. Hope it can function in a way that doesn't need to drain so much of my batt.
I have several houseplants with different needs and this is a great way to keep track. The reason I gave it four and not five stars is because it only lets you take horizontal pictures and the vertical ones end up on their side. Otherwise pretty good and useful app!
Much better than the apps which make you choose from a list of preset plants, this one is fully customizable with your own pictures and descriptions. The only thing I would add is a way to sort your plants by indoor/outdoor or label them by specific bed location.
Really like how functional this app is. My only complaint is that it doesn't let me crop the pictures I update. That feature would make it 5 stars for me. UPDATE: Please, PLEASE make an export or backup option! I would gladly pay premium for it.
I had high hopes for this one. But it doesn't do the one thing I really need it to, namely make sure I water the plants. It shows which plants need to be watered, but there's no way to mark whether I followed through or not. So, if I don't water a plant, the app assumes I did and resets the countdown for the next watering. And if I water a plant early, it still shows the next watering as if it hadn't been watered yet.
It has a bunch of great options. It is missing "fruit" for type which was annoying, but I think I'll remember that a strawberry is a fruit. I use it a lot because I like keeping track of how fast my morning glories are growing
My biggest complaint is the layout of the main plant page. I only have a handful of different plants but due to improper formatting, I have to scroll through the page as if I own what a nursery would have.
So here it is. Aren't you glad you asked with that pop-up dialog box? I didn't even have time to figure out how I felt about this app but the app thought it was time to start pestering me for a rating. Think I found another app I like better anyways.
A few things need adding, fruit and salad needs to be added to the plant types. Also harvest or pick in the schedule. Green house in the location. But I like it so far keep up the good work.
Seasonal alarms need much improvement, eg it is not easy to program alarms for fertilization every March, April every year. It would help to have Custom actions in addition to the predefined set. The bug when the man window expands with white space after a note is entered to an alarm is mentioned before by other users
Would be 4 star as the photo orientation is a minor issue, but I've given 3 stars because this feature had been mentioned many times over the last 6+ months without any change from the dev.
Perfect app for the person wanting to keep track of their plants. I have orchids with all sorts of different needs and I can plug them in here to keep track easily. Only problem I had was the pictures rotating sideways when entering them in. I'd also like to be able to crop, rotate and perhaps note on pics before saving on diary entries. And have a 'custom' option on plant health and action prompts in case I do something that's not listed as an option.
I liked the app. It seems to do what i want done. Since l deal with succulents most alarms would be worthless.
Some tips: add Cloud backup so someone's long history of plants can be moved from device to device over the years. You can integrate with Dropbox or onedrive easily. Another tip, would be to add google play achievements, encouraging people to add more plants. If you get enough anonymous data, you could use to improve the app with machine learning....
A great app and does what it says. Great for keeping track of my plants and progress pics. A small wishlist for some improvements include: user input on "location" - addition of "succulents" for plant type - more efficient manner in photo usage (IE pls don't recreate the photo in the gallery if I'm using the same photo for several diff plants)
So intuitive and simple to use. Just one little suggestion...it would be great to have sub-folders...I grow lots of flowers, herbs, and vegetables so it would be cool to see them categorized accordingly rather than have all of then alphabetized. But that is a tiny nit compared to how effective this is! I will definitely be buying the premium version after trying it out for a few days to see if I stick to it. Thanks!
This is good for tracking but could be a lot better. Pictures upload sideways. Should be able to upload basic plant info like planting instructions and days to harvest. Could gather data by region to get more accurate harvest days. Should be able to network with other growers in your region for tips and such.
Love all the detail I can add in this app. A few changes would be nice though. Too much info when scrolling through and each plant takes up way too much space. I would rather see my heading, then choose my plant for more info. Also some sort of calendar. Like maybe a monthly would be nice to see all reminders coming up. Also just "plant" should be added to types, for indoor plants.
The alarms show up in notifications, which is good. But if you miss them there it's not trivial or clear how to clear the alarm in the app itself
This app truly fills a gap for plant lovers and owners. The design and options are great. Nevertheless there's room for improvement. 1)Choice for rotating pictures. 2)Make reminders more compact.
Why m not getting my alarms to function? M I doing something wrong? I mean, i never listen to them!!
I will wait and see if alarms ring when they should but on home screen all alarms state 12am but when I open the alarm to edit it states proper time I chose??? So it may wake me up at midnight or it may work. As well the alarms on home screen have many many blank line spaces in between each row of words like there is stuff missing or there is also a layout clich....
The app really suits my need to keep track of different watering schedules and progress pictures for many different plants. I am having an issue though that's impacting my ability to use the app, where there's a large amount of whitespace between plants when listed on the home screen
I love this app for keeping track of pest/disease problems as well as taking notes on when I've fertilized, weeded, etc. I've only used an alarm once, but it's a very useful feature I see using more of next planting season. There is only one feature I would like added to this app and that is the ability to make albums of different gardens so I can keep better track of what plant is where when I'm adding notes. If it had this feature I would definitely give it a 5 star!!!
This app would benefit from a projection calendar. I'd like to be able to put in when I planted the seed, and then have the app show me a calendar predicting when the seeds will sprout, show their immature leaves, grow their first set of true leaves, and reach maturity. It would be great if there were a database built in or searchable, or if we could put in the data ourselves.
I keep all my plants in this diary it lets me know what my plants need.at all times. I have a green thumb,I LOVE IT. One thing that has come up is you take pics of your plants and they disapear I wish this would not happen. It keeps putting up the have not rated this app and I have it is a very good app it like anything else it has querks its. Like this if you can't do it one way you do it another. do not give up.
Pretty good. Handy for recording what's where, when you planted stuff etc. Calendar view would be good
I artistically adopt plants from outside which sometimes leads to lots of clutter and some neglected plants this is a great app for keeping track of what all I have going on so I don't end up overwhelmed or with dead plants. Awesome app thank you
I love this application. Useful to the botanist, farmer or home gardner alike. I would like to see the alarm system synced up with a weather forcast so that we can be alerted to adverse weather which may affect plants such as frost. Maybe even have an option for the alarm with a user determined minimum temperature setting
I have been looking for a way to track what has been planted, when and when harvesting time is. Just downloaded so far so good. But I do suggest an improvement when sending a type of action ie water, fertalize.... Please add harvest too the Lizzy .
I have a lot of plants, and this helps to organize their care. If I could add something to the app that I'd personally find useful, it would be a search box to go to a specific plant name on your list versus scrolling to it.
The only reason I'm currently using Garden Manager over this, despite its far less pleasing UI is its ability to backup, either locally or to the cloud. Give me that (and a way of transferring content over using that backup file) and I'll buy the premium version of this.

The app is good. However I did have issues with some of the alarms not going off when I had scheduled them. This is unfortunate because that was my reason for downloading the app in the first place. I needed a reliable reminder and this wasn't it. Plus, all of them would say they were set for 12 a.m. even though each had their own designated time. On another note, I did enjoy the note taking option!
