SmartStay Ex

Seems to scan every x seconds, no matter if the user is using the device or not. There's absolutely no reason to scan if I'm actively using the device. This is also a problem because if it scans midway into the screen off timer, it doesn't scan again when the normal screen timer activates, so the screen often still turns off, rendering this app somewhat useless in certain situations!

I wish that the timer til scanning will start after the last use cause i'm irritated from the notification icon keeping scanning even I'm using my phone. Add this feature and I'll give this app 5 star.

I use a custom ROM on my s4. I use the Google Play Edition ROM and this app let's me keep my stay awake function from the original s4 firmware. DEV: You should try and replicate all the s4 features and sell as a bundle. The s4 is one of the most common phones.....and it would work for the s5 too. Just something to think about.....I'd buy it!

Nice work by the developer. Thumbs up. But there is roam for further improvement. I read books on nexus 7 and i was really annoyed by the screen getting off. This app has solved my problem. Thank development team.

Tried every config combo imaginable. Either stopped responding or, just, couldn't see my face - not, even, once. Tried under brighter conditions (florescent kitchen lighting) - nope. Nada.

I have just bought a LG V10. For whatever dumb reason I do not know, LG decided to remove the smart eye feature from this phone. I found this application by chance. I tried it and to my pleasure, it works very good, accurate. I am going to buy it.

This is such a disappointment. I need an ap that does what this claims to do so I hope someone else giving it a bad review can recommend one that works!

I have paid version installed. But it will work if I move a little far from my face and I cannot see the text clearly. Please fix it. Thanks.

This app works great except for the fact that if you open up your camera with this app running, it will crash the camera until a reboot. This bug has been present for way too long with no response from dev. Seems to work OK with camera added in the exceptions list

It works almost as well as the native S3 stay awake function when you aren't using the camera. It causes my camera and phone to freeze on my S3 with CM10.

Would be a great app and I would purchase the pro version, but after a while it just makes the camera unavailable. Works great when it does work though.

I was using this app and worked amazing but some thing happened afyer kitkat and it doest not work+ rapidly scans face even app closed...

One reason I tried this app is that I'm using a custom ROM on my S3. Stock ROM already has Smart Stay build in. I tried with 15cm distance, blinking, slightly moving my head, well lit room, lighting correctly behind the phone. Tried with 35->45cm distance, same results, it simply does not work. Screen timeout is set to 30 seconds, and precisely at 30 seconds screen dims, then shuts off. I notice the icon goes from Blue, red, grey before my screen turns off. App installed fine, runs without any FC's at all. Uninstalled app. Samsung Galaxy S3 AOKP ROM 4.2.2

Crashes phone when using camera on cm11. Poor face recognition.

Although I have a Galaxy S3 I use CyanogenMod 10.1 Cuz I hate how touchwiz looks, I was looking for a smarstay app since its the only feature that is useful in touchwiz and this app really nailed it. Works perfectly! Keep up the good work!

Causes any camera app to crash on OPO. Have to remember to turn off before you use any camera app.

This app always stops without reason. Left 5 reports to the developer, plus emailed, all being ignored. How could this developer think anyone would make a donation if the developer can't be bothered to respond. Uninstalling. Let me know when it is fixed.

Gave it a go, even though it had problems detecting me with glasses. Bought the Pro version to enable the light features. It did fix not being able to recognise with glasses on. BUT, all camera applications crash followed by a full phone hard crash. Running CM11 M8 i9505 - Google camera, A better camera and CM11 camera. Pressed the refund button. Please find a workaround, I'll buy.

Had a malfunction of the app failing to start but after restarting my tablet it worked fine. So far so good. Works better then the feature that came with the device

Actually,I have a very similar function that came stock on my G3 that works much better. It's just not as stable as I had hoped it would be.

But the "can't connect camera" error is annoying, socially since it can only be fixed through a reboot.

As mentioned by other people, when this app is running, and you open the camera, it will freeze and result in the phone rebooting. It is an option to have it turned off when using the camera but only if you buy the paid version. So basically if you want it to work, you have to pay for it. Edit: I can't do it anymore. App has a lot of potential, and it does work as it should, but since it makes the camera unusable, I have to uninstall it. Bummer...

I'm using 5MP front facing camera. And even with it It doesn't work.

Not able to detect my face ever in my sg sl device...hmm..maybe cause of low 0.3mp front facing camera make it hard to detect or what ever it is..not working..

Great app works 95% of the time and keeps the screen on while you are looking at it.

i love smart stay i use it on my Samsung galaxy devices all the time and it's nice to see it on another android device besides my Samsung galaxy devices so i downloaded this app and used it and rated it and wrote a good positive review on it!!!

I've missed this functionality, but the conflicts with other camera apps is no fun

Samsung galaxy s2 would not detect face at all

Not bad, does the job, but problem is it conflicts with the camera, force closes it when u try to switch on the camera. Please fix the camera force close! :(

Replaces the only feature on my S3 that I missed. Only used it for 5 mins, but seems to do what it says. I'm sitting in a reasonably dark room, I turned the timeout down to 15 secs. Point the phone away from me and the screen goes black after 15 secs. Point the phone at me and the screen doesn't go off. Upgraded to the pro version, and the continuous scan mode doesn't seem to work (but then it is labelled Beta) - but.. well app seems to do what it does in the description.
