SmartThermo for Android
App is unusable unless you plan on standing by the BBQ all day. No range beyond 5 metres, Bluetooth drops constantly. This product and app need more Quality Control checks before selling at the price-point they want (AUD$50).
Managed maybe five uses. Needs a new battery all the time. Now says new battery has no power! Do not buy this thermo. Way too unreliable.
Works OK, but not flexible enough. I need to use it to make yogurt, and I'm watching for the temperature to fall, not rise. This is a simple feature, but the app doesn't support it. Please add it choice of rising or falling temperature.
Need access to contacts, WiFi, pictures, position, camera and access to make calls, unbelievable bullshit, it only need Bluetooth... Range is too low. As far as I can see all permissions can be turned off in settings/apps except Bluetooth. and it looks like it works, but still only one star !!!
Great idea but just fails, had major connectivity issues. When it did finally connect it would drop out continually. Went back to Bunnings for a refund.
Bluetooth drops out in 3 metres, not the claimed 90ft / 30metres on the box. My phone is latest generation. And permissions are excessive. So dropping the app.
App crashes often, also it spies on you by requesting access to all the data on your device. Why does an app to send temperature data need access to my call log?
Totally useless. It won't even sync up with my phone. Makes the iChef thermometer a rip-off.
The app drops out at a very short range even though the device claims it can last 30m.
Needs to have an alarm for falling temperature of hot food that reaches perfect serving temperature or needs to be reheated. It's an app so it should be able to learn new tricks.
Bluetooth fails to hold a connection, which is a pain when I'm watching the graph for a flat line.
Don't have any issues, sure it could be a bit more intuitive but it works as it should and I don't have any connection issues.
Said it has a 90 foot range. Drops out about 5 metres away. Waste of money
What the heck is going on with permissions here? Extermely sketchy!
Bloody awesome. People its Bluetooth how far away can you be with any of your other Bluetooth apps.
Needs to alarm when it's hit the set temperature. Bluetooth range is about 8-10 feet.
Same experience if u go inside it drops out.
Bluetooth option seemed awesome but didn't work.
Range sucks
The app has a lot of good features but the device is not as good. I can get ten feet from the device and it drops connection. Glad I got it on sale for $5.00.
Just cooked a prefect leg of pork I was able to sit in my aircon and not hover around the BBQ. Perfect app well done.
As long as you're not over 10 feet from it is good after that b*******
It does display the temperature on your phone, but you can Not set an alarm to go off at a certain temperature
Doesn't work, can't connect
Doesn't work more than about 5 metres away...ok if you are sitting outside next to bbq and don't want to bother standing up to check. If it drops out it's a real pain to get it to pair again.
Unbelievably crappy range. Tried 3 devices, all bad range. And the app experience sucks. Returning.
Tried it with chicken. Got it to pair. Was working great until I went inside. Lost connection. Not even close to the 90 foot distance. What a disappointment.
Bluetooth keeps dropping out. Good luck using it more than a meter away.
Wants permission for my identity, browser history, location, photos, camera, wifi, device id, and phone call info. I am wondering if the whole thing is a scam to steal info rather than tell temperature.
App does not support more than one temperature probe at a time. Your only given the choice to search, and when you do and have more than one probe, it randomly connects to only one of them. No choice on which one to connect to.
App needs some work but has nice features. My thermometer is working well. Not having the issues others have had yet. Got it on sale for $12 at our local grocery store. Might get more if it lasts. Will update my experience soon.
Fails to keep a Bluetooth connection further away than 2 feet. Glad I only paid $20 for it.
I can barely get 8-10 feet of range. Not worth owning.
Doesn't work, can't connect
Get to the other side of the screen door and I lose it. Luckily I still have my Taylor.
No alarm on Bluetooth connecting lost
No problems at all. Connected instantly and the range wasn't a problem for me.
Yes
It has an authorize setting. You can tell it to communicate with Facebook and another media site I never heard of. The issue is it has a third site in Chinese that you cannot turn off. So it is communicating all the time. Bought at Kroger. It is being returned.

What a terrible combo of hardware and software. just a peice of chinese junk, range is about 2m.... app looses pairing ALL the time... and why all the permissions No way I'm letting some chinese national install a app on my phone that can access almost everything negative 5 stars
