The buttons needed to download, and to delete downloads, are almost completely covered by the Android System Bar at the bottom of the screen. This means that downloading, and and deleting downloads, was a bit hit and miss. I installed GMD Full Screen but, even though this hid the System Bar, the required buttons are still mostly covered (the rest of the screen moved down a bit). Xperia Z2 Tablet with latest updates.

Used to work but now all I get is a spinning blue circle. It's been like this for a month. Therefore I cannot watch my purchased shows via my chromecast. This needs fixed promptly. Even after this latest update 31/10/2016 it's still not working absolutely no change. This app is not fit for purpose

by N####:

Title and play controls don't hide, obscuring the view on my Sony Xperia Z5 compact. How do I get a refund on purchases that are now unwatchable? The BBC. Paid for by the licence fee payer, and then they use the money to make crap Eastenders Actors and Radio DJs, who couldn't mix two records together if they had all week, in to millionaires. The small amount of money left is then used in producing this rubbish that the rest of us have to suffer with. Disgraceful.

App crashes evetytime I try and open it. Glad I didn't have to pay for it. Come on BBC sort it out! Contacted bbc store directly about this on 1/11/16. They have given up on my issue. Waste of time and money buying anything from them if you can only watch via a browser.

Clunky and no way to get back to the store once you have purchased something other than unistalling the app and starting all over. Amazing!!! Apparently updated and now I can't get into the app at all. Come on BBC - Netflix and Amazon can manage stores for videos that work, surely you can...

Still does not load on Oneplus 3 running Android 6.0.1 . If you can not fix the problem , how about a refund on the content that I purchased from the BBC store. It would be nice to know if this problem is on the app developers radar! 12 Dec 16 Update. Still not working. Screen goes black then exits app. 14 Dec 16 Update. I manually set Permissions for this app and it now works. App did not request permission s be granted when initially installed.

To fix the spinning blue circle issue. Uninstall, then go Play Store and reinstall the app. Go to Android Settings / Apps, click on BBC Store and click Clear Cache and Clear Data. The app should now work for you when you launch it.

What's the point of this app if it can't do the things it claims to. Chrome cast doesn't work. Can't watch on tv using hdmi, and often crashes when logging in. Rubbish.

C70%
by C####:

Looks like it's been rolled back to the previous version, which works. Hurrah! However, I'm sticking with 3 stars as it took so long for the devs to fix and I don't have confidence in it continuing to work.

Like everyone else, I was also getting a spinning blue circle with nothing else happening. I have uninstalled the app and then reinstalled in, and have now been able to sign in on both my HTC M7 and galaxy tab S2.

I bought this and I get a download error straightaway. My fibre broadband is fine. Awful app. Yesterday it gave me the swirling blue circle of doom. Give it a miss. I will go elsewhere in future.

They may have 'fixed' it not playing at all. Now they need to fix the playback. Especially HD playback. At the moment I don't recommend paying the extra for HD, as you won't get HD quality playback. Not even if you download it (so it's not a bandwidth issue). All you get is jerky playback, pixellation, and jaggy outlines, especially if there is a lot of detail and/or movement. Sometimes I'd hardly call it VHS quality!

The app has been failing for months but following today's update it now finally works. Had to clear cache and app data in application manager first but now it's working I am happy to give it 5 stars again

C70%
by C####:

Terrible app. Crashes and often can't even open properly. If it does work, needs Internet to verify purchase. Obviously this means you can't use it on an airplane.

Well it's working ok for me, and once Chromecast support was added, I was very happy. I did get a 25% off code which said invalid when I tried to use it, but some great service from the help people got that credited. I realise some are having issues, but for me, I'm loving it now.

A70%
by A####:

I've had more success than other users but playback is spoilt by two black bars, one at the top and one at the bottom. This obscures almost half the viewing area. Cannot remove it. Most annoying.

C70%
by C####:

With so many great shows now available its ridiculous that this app didnt work for so long!! Ive spent a lot of money on stuff I couldnt even watch. Now it finally seems to be working. I like the Chromecast feature too. Lets hope it remains working...

Broken and no longer works at all. Now have to watch all my programmes via a browser. Update on 31st October has not fixed it

C70%
by C####:

Completely useless. Since a supposed upgrade all I get is a spinning circle. Best to stick to Amazon. BBC is just a bunch of amateurs.

C70%
by C####:

I'm getting tired of this, BBC. Apps that previously worked fine and then you improve them until they break. This is another victim of a shoddy update. Do you do any checks before you release them?

C70%
by C####:

Quite simply, it doesn't work. Now I've lost the programmes I purchased. How do I get a refund?

C70%
by C####:

October fix has rendered app useless. Spinning blue circle and/or crash. Please fix!! Just tried latest version and that just crashes on start up. Need a zero star score.

C70%
by C####:

Unable to watch anything I've purchased. Downloads failed and now won't even stream. Feel like I've wasted my money.

C70%

A re-install sorted the endless blue spinning circle, no good reason why though. Still no recall of last played point of your programme though

BBC IT'S RUDE NOT TO ANSWER! NATIONAL LOTTERY HAVE REPLACED THEIR APP WITH AN APOLOGY YOU'VE GOT MY PURCHASE AND I CAN'T WATCH

Have made numerous purchases but the android app seems to refuse to play. The iplayer works fine with the same titles.

I have to connect to the internet to even get the Google App to work, otherwise the welcome page just freezes, even though one of the large icons is telling me I can watch programs offline. It does show I have 5 downloaded programs but I can't access them. Whatever I press, NOTHING! Once I do connect to the internet and try to watch any of my 5 programs, I get an error message 'We're sorry, there appears to be a problem..etc.'. This is very disappointing and not the first time I have had to contact BBC Store Help.. Last time My app had frozen (spinning blue circle forever!) and I had to uninstall and re-install the App as it would not load. Now I am unable to watch my programs which HAVE been downloaded offline! Also, even if I do connect to the internet I can't watch them. I work offshore and the whole point of my paying for these programs is so I can watch OFFLINE. Terrible app! I doubt very much I will ever be offered a refund even though I can't watch the programs I have paid for where I want to watch them (i.e. offshore, not at home).

C70%

It fails to load on Android 7 or 7.1 at time of writing. I've asked for a full refund on my purchases. BBC failure at it's highest

HD isn't anywhere near HD. Tried to watch a programme on big TV via Chromecast but you can actually count the pixels...

Update: clean cache and data, latest version opens! I'd love to rate higher but the app crashes before it opens. Several app updates later and it still won't open.

Bought a movie but can't play it on my smart TV. What a waste of time and money.

C70%

Very Flaky. Works on and off on laptop (Win 10 on Chrome) but not on Android TV box or Smart TV. BBC support have no interest in finding out why and are happy to accept that these won't work. If they are content with a product as unreliable as iPlayer, we can't be surprised.

M70%

Doesn't work after update, spinning blue circle! like all apps that don't work after updates.... uninstall then reinstall, now you can sign in and watch your purchases.
