Salmos é um livro do Tanakh e da Bíblia Cristã, vem depois do Livro de Jó, pois este encerra a sequência de livros históricos, e antes do Livro dos Provérbios, iniciando os livros proféticos e poéticos em ordem cronológica , sendo o primeiro livro a falar claramente do Messias (ou Cristo) e seu reinado, e do Juízo Final.
