Brew Your Own Magazine for Android
Desperatly needs updating. Why on earth should i have to use the apple version to get back issues? Its a frickin app for andriod savvy it should have the same functionality! Theres no excuse for this.
Totally unable to load a sample issue as described... hard to review the worth of the magazine based on covers only.
Should be embarrassed by this!
Doesn't work
I put in correct username and password and app still won't allow me to download issues. I end up going to the Web site and signing in from there. If this isn't fixed I absolutely won't continue my subscription. Zymurgy app works 100% better.
This app is worthless; you can't even login with a valid username and password!
Cannot open any issues....so happy I pay for this subscription!
Could be a lot better. App icon is an eyesore
But having the digital subscription is making me want to end my subscription. The app will not let me even sign in. It is painful to read in a browser. And you can't read offline in a browser. It would be awesome if you made the digital subscription work with the Kindle app... it works
Black screen with a search box. No reaction.
I can't even log in! WTF?!?
I get to look at back issues
Great to have the issues if I want to read while on the go. Back issues would be a nicer touch but isn't an app killer. **Update** When the new digital issue becomes available for the web, the app doesn't show the new issue. I have to reinstall the app just to be able to download the latest issue. I'm located in Germany so I wonder if that's the issue.
Overall a decent app but the problem is that every time a new issue is released I have to uninstall and reinstall the app in order to get the new issues to show up. Please FIX! This issue is on my samsung tablet 10.1
New issue is available online, but no option to download it
Good way to get the mag in the UK. Slight issue with app not showing all issues and had to reinstall
This app sucks so bad it's pitiful. Does not meet the standard that the print version sets. Clunky, crashes, search doesn't seem to work. Really, this is the best we can do in 2014?

Can't download issues only downloads when it wants to..
Open the app and it just crashes.
The magazine is great, but I suggest you stick to the print issues. The UI is missing many vital features. Access to account settings would be nice to have, just as an example. Another horrible feature is the need to log in every time a new issue comes out to confirm your subscription. A stand alone app should do that in the background for you. Worst of all, the app frequently crashes on my Nexus 7. Really, the publisher should have just let the google play store handle the digital subscriptions.
Nice idea but doesnt allow me to read my digital subscription using the android app. I have to log on with a web browser. Also there is no facility to digitally download back issues (paid or free) on android. That is rubbish! Actually many journals etc allow access to back issues free with a subscription. Needs more thought from a customers perspective. Your reviews are telling you this is not ok (currently 21 one star reviews and 4 five stars). You should sort this out as it isnt good.
Bought a combo digital and print subscription only to learn that 1)the app is a simply a very poor micro-fiche like copy of thr print version not in the least developed as a modern app. And 2) the app wouldn't take my login! Give me my money back for the "combo" editions I bought. I just want the print only now.
Please pull this down its an Insult to the magazine. Have to give one star other wise won't accept my feedback
I rarely review apps but this one deserves warning. This application does not work. It crashed about ten times while I was trying to open my first digital issue. It now crashes when attempting to turn the page. I have a Samsung G3 have not had these many problems with any other apps. BYO needs to find a different way to release their issues.
I don't often leave reviews but this app warrants a bit of warning to other users. It is completely unusable. The authentication to my BYO account fails 4 out of five times. I it at least worked once for me to know that my account was good. Turning pages kills the application. All in all a terrible effort from a spectacular publication. I feel a little disappointed and very ripped off. At least the app was free. Asus Transformer tablet TF101
Takes forever to load if at all, even on WiFi. Really hope the make some improvements
Looks like a nice idea, but I haven't been able to read any articles. It crashes as soon as I attempt to zoom. Also, the login screen layout doesn't work well on my phone in portrait. Will update this review if these things are fixed, but for now, don't bother paying for the digital subscription. The paper magazine is excellent, however, and well worth it. The update fixed nothing. Still unable to read a single article.
Got a free subscription, but it won't accept my log in information. Useless!
Works fine for me. Nice way to easily access the magazine.
Used app on iphone, worked great, use on ipad, works great..app contantly crashes on android galaxy note 2
Cannot open, automatically force closes. Need to fix please.
BYO needs a new android app for e-subscribers. It crashes overtime I open it. I have yet to read an article. It's not worth the frustration. Read this on you computer or Apple device.
This app was a disappointment. Once I finally figured out how to access the service, reading is a pain in the butt due to lag and poor performance. Also, the layout/flow is not optimized for small screens in any way. Hoping for an update, or this app and the subscription will be short lived (regrettably).
Awful interface. Limited selection. Won't even authenticate, so it doesn't even do what little it claims to. Worst app I've come across in a while.
Why is the magazine not on Google Play Magazines?
I really love this magazine and I'll use this app at times to find an article or sneak a peek at the upcoming issue, but for the most part I read my hard copy cover to cover when it gets here. I love the ad feature that takes you to the advertiser's site without leaving the app...awesome! However, the feature I use the most in the Zymurgy app (which, as others have mentioned here, is a part of my subscription) is the ability to peruse old back issues. They have gone all the way back to Nov 2000!!! When you add issues I can't grab off my shelf and flip through you'll see a huge increase in people using this app.
I've always enjoyed the content of the printed magazine so when they came out with a digital version I was delighted. The digital copy on a PC is a pain to use but the Android version is wonderful. It's so handy having all the issues I've subscribed to available to download to my NOOK. I love being able to read them offline when I'm not near my home library (or WiFi signal). If you like BrewYourOwn you'll love this app!
Can't get past the login to view the magazine. I have no intention in paying for this again. It's been a waste of time and money.

it continues to be an unreliable application, internally every page behaves as hyperlinked so they are hard to read on a phone. All that and it eats 2x as much space per issue as it shoud.
