Media Utilities

It's working great with Zooper to play youtube, sound cloud and poweramp. but I cannot get the right information to display, if I check/uncheck use alternative data collection then cover art is updated but not track info or its the other way around. Galaxy S7, stock rom, rooted.

I want to use it along with Zooper Widget, but the integration won't work properly. For 2 seconds, it detect the media I'm playing, then it just go back to 'n/a' where it can't detect what I'm playing anymore. Please fix this, I'm literally begging you :'( btw, I'm using poweramp as my default music player.

Overall an amazing app. If you use multiple music/media apps like Spotify, YouTube, Netflix, etc... then this is a great app. you can have a single widget control any of them. Tasker integration gives you unparalleled control as well. The only downside is that this app will not work if you're running 4.4.2

The customizable options along with the different app integrations make this a must have! I was surprised to see this even works with Plex. However, it seemed to be buggy and would crash or sometimes just stop working. As a result, I switched to a different widget.

Sometimes it gets stuck on a certain app like music even though I have closed music and opened Pandora or Google play music or spotify. The album art will be correct, but the artist and track won't update until I switch back to music. Or it just won't update anything until several phone resets.

Despite the message once in a blue moon saying the app has stopped, this is the only app that gives me simple, compact white text and invisible seeking buttons. I couldn't achieve my home screen's look without it.

Was a five starred app, crashes after phone updated to Lollipop. Integrated with Zooper Pro--everything not working but PLAYTIME and COVERART on every media app, checked with five apps. Hoped for some update but there's none until now, devs please take a note.

Continuously get tasked media state unknown error (0). And memory error. Metadata was shown at first but then started to only show N/A. Even Zooper widgets started doing this.

Rarely able to finish setting up widgets. Feels more like alpha than beta. Looking forward to seeing this actually work, with full access from inside Zooper Widget. Gave 3 stars based on potential I saw, the single time I was able to actually place widget. Follow up. Deleted and reinstalled and was able to get this to work. Still very finicky, but definitely has potential.

Upgraded to LG G3 with Lollipop and I can not seem to get this app to work with Google Play Music anymore. I am a little disappointed since I hate the stock music players.

So far its working ok albeit a little fudgy when first trying to use it with zooper. Are there variables for Random and Shuffle play as well? If not, i would love to see that

It was working before, but was still buggy - wrong artwork, wouldn't display the tags, crashes. Now it just crashes every time I try to load anything with an album art in it. Seeing as how the devs haven't updated the app in 6 months, I guess this app is abandoned in its current broken state. Shame, could've been a must have app.

I didn't liked the Spotify widget on my home screen due to its dark theme. But thanks to this app all of my widgets have uniformed look. My OCD can finally rest its case. Lol.

This used to be THE go-to app for media, but doesn't correctly do anything in Lollipop. -SUPER hopeful is being worked on!

Along with zooper it makes my phone music player looks and work great. The only downside is that my album art is saved to my phone with every track I play. It gets very annoying..

After updating to lollipop, it wouldn't work properly anymore. The artist, title and album wouldn't update anymore on my custom Zooper widget. I also keep getting a pop-up saying that Media Utilities has crashed.

I have an annoying issue where it downloads the widgets music artwork to my gallery, meaning my gallery is constantly full of random artwork which takes up valuable space! Is there a way to fix this? Overall though a must have app if you like customizing :)

The only way i could get this to work with zooper was if i was playing music ths i had hard downloaded to my memory. It would never be able to pull info from a current Google play song

Ultimate addition to customizing your personal theme. My main issue is when ISPLAYING sends a false positive. Seems set to true whenever the audio channel is accessed at all (e.g. when I'm playing a game even though the sound is muted). Makes triggers/widgets behave not as intended.

I wanted to use tasker to auto play my CBC radio app at 630 am to 720am. This plug in as far as I can tell cannot auto play my radio app it just plays something from my Samsung app, which I don't have added as a app to the plug in. I can't figure out how to rectify that problem. Gave up for now.

Crashes too much. Although necessary and useful app for Zooper widgets, it always crashed on me. For example, I created a music player with typical, play pause skip controls, a progress bar, and track/artist. Every time I skip a track, MU crashes. If I actually am able to skip, progress bar doesn't work. It's so disappointing because it is so great and really help give me full customization, please fix crashing soon!

Would be nice if there was integration with Poweramp with the tasker stuff, but unfortunately media utilities seems to have been abandoned, so, too bad for Poweramp users.

But it WORKS. It does everything I want and then some. I use it in combination with with Tasker

If you use Zooper or Kustom this is a must have to make the most out of them. Couple minor issues but nothing too discouraging. It is in beta. By itself it makes a wonderful player with tons of customizations.

This has been the best music widgets for people who like customizations. But seems Dev team shift focus to themer only. Please release the lollipop update as there are many out there who don't want to use themer

I used to use this app on my 4.4.4 Nexus 5 just fine but this weekend when I updated to 5.0, this app runs into problems. I believe it can't properly select the current or default media player because every time my Tasker task tells it to play or smart play it plays from Play Music instead of Spotify, which I changed to be the only media player it should be controlling. Great app, but broken at the moment. Hopefully the devs take a look.

I don't know whether it just hasn't been updated it what, but it actually does the opposite of what it's supposed to on Lollipop when using it with Pandora.

Notification access, direct control and alternative data collection must all be active in order for Track, Artist, and Album text to appear in Zooper widgets. However, Cover Art does not work unless alternative data collection is disabled.

I am trying to use your app and tasker to be able to grab a long press on play button (bluetooth media controller) and do a task but it doesnt seems to support that unfortunately

It needs work. I dislike how it closes, constantly? Functionally it is excellent, regardless.

Pandora for example made the effort to make a Pebble app and it works fine... if you don't like to change your volume. This app allows instead of using a precious app slot, to just use the stock music player. With volume.

... but it is just _massively_ unstable when working with Zooper. Hasn't been updated in over a year, and works halfway decently only on my oldest machine, which runs 4.3. Problematical on the 4.4 machines, where it causes system crashes. Better off just sticking with my preferred music app's widget.
