About BarSense Weight Lifting Log

BarSense allows you quickly and easily analyze and track your barbell lifts. BarSense lets you:

✓ See the bar path of your lift
✓ See the bar velocity
✓ Focus on particular reps or parts of a rep

Unlike other workout logs and fitness trackers which only allow you to track sets and reps, Bar Sense lets you track the quality of your excercise, rather than just the quantity. Using BarSense's path tracking, you can see:

✓ How straight you kept your bar during a squat
✓ Whether your squat was deep enough
✓ If your bench press incline is too vertical or just right
✓ Whether you used your arms during a clean or snatch.
✓ if you catch the bar too low
✓ How fast your did your lift and how much power you output

Whether you're into bodybuilding, strength training, Olympic lifts or CrossFit, use BarSense to improve your technique, get feedback and progress faster in a safe and efficient manner.

See our blog at http://blog.barsense.com on how to interpret the graphs, what to look for in different lifts and general weightlifting tips.

Edited: Finally got it to work! I use black plates in a somewhat dark space. Introduced extra lighting and now the app successfully traces the barpath and loads the graph. Have really enjoyed running my lifts through it and would recommend it to others to get more detailed info about your lifts. Only downside is a lack of exporting options - would give it 5 stars if I could export a clip of the path being traced with the graph alongside. Have another (small) issue where if a clip is deleted from the phone, the entry in barsense cannot be deleted so I've got a growing list of entries that I can't delete and don't have the video files for anymore...

It's great to use for myself, or especially in coaching others. I just hope that it continues to receive updates to improve bar tracking, and to maybe update the UI if I were to nitpick. I've recommended it to many, and I'm amazed it isn't more popular than it is.

Does not work on Nougat. Does not load slow mo video. Does not follow bar when I can get video to load

This app worked fine in Lollipop. Marshmallow? Just a black and white split screen when you try to play a video after tracking. C'mon guys.

is there a better application for tracking barpath? this one doesn't look like it's active any longer and there is no way to export the video.

I just downloaded this app, uploaded a video. It's just a blank screen. Tried this several times. No notification if it's an error or something wrong with my video.

N70%
by N####:

This app is REALLY helpful... But the fact that the videos can't be shared or exported is pretty important

N70%
by N####:

Worked first time I uploaded a video. Realized it immediately records bar path (so it recorded me walking towards the bar lol). Shortened the vid and tried to upload again and nothing shows up. Tried with various clips. Nothing. Pls help

Doesn't work on my Xiaomi Redmi note 2. Whenever I load a video, the app crashes. Please fix this or help me fix this!

N70%

On s5, doesn't work. Videos all come up as horizontal

N70%

When I try to upload video the whole thing crashes.

I love the App but I was wondering how come there isn't an icon to save my videos to my gallery so I can upload it or share it to social media?

T70%

It always crashes when I try to load a video

Sort of pointless.

I have noticed the bar Velocity is off by a significant margin. Is there a way to calibrate the phone to make this work?

N70%
by N####:

Awesome way to make sure lifts are technically sound and improving in velocity. A must have for any athlete.

I70%

This app is good it works fine but it would be cool to have a option to share videos with friends

X70%
by X####:

Its nice app but it would be great if we can save the video results

N70%

Doesn't even lock onto the bar

N70%

Anyone know how to share videos like the photos show?

N70%

Is there a way to export videos from app??

N70%

Excellent app

I have noticed with multiple phones the bar velocity is almost 2m/s too fast. On the full version some of the other values like horizontal displacement are off too. Is there a way to calibrate the phone/app that I don't know of? If not, please fix

Skeptical of accuracy of bar speed and other traking methods (force, distance, etc) but it does do a good job tracking the bar path. It has been inconsistent on speed of video clips of the same lift. I uploaded the same clip a few times and each was different and sometimes significantly. I would imagine differences in tracing your plates/camera instability has a lot to do with it. Looking forward to experimenting more with the app.

This app works ok, though it's pretty slow and frequently crashes when i try to load videos. But i can't share the videos it traces or download them, so i can't send them to my coach, which really limits the usefulness of the app.

D70%
by D####:

Bar path tracking is great but how do I export the video for sharing? I don't get the same options as shown in the screenshots for the app.

D70%
by D####:

If only I could see full bar path on screen without velocity etc traces

D70%
by D####:

Tried it on my Note4 - it finishes the tracing the lift progress bar, then just goes to a half black/half white screen and does nothing. Can't give it 1 star, because the app idea is good, but can't give it more than 2 because it plain doesn't work.

D70%
by D####:

Need to be able to export videos. Should be able to trim video prior to tracing. Should be able to select the beginning time of each rep so tracing doesn't overlap.

O70%

Crashes any time I try to load a video. Can't get it to work at all :-(

F70%

Not even tracking bar path at all... Thumbs down

K70%

It does what it says on the tin..but share. It doesn't show the share button even paid for the additional information graphs. But still won't allow me to share. Using samsaung s5. Feeling cheated.

A friend of mine uses this app for singles, and it seems to work well for him. I, however, have had consistently bad analysis for multiple rep sets. The bar path and velocity are way off on both metrics.

B70%

Perfect for tracking speed on speed sets. Love it.

D70%

Amazing app but it would be even more amazing if it had an option to save(download) the videos that have been traced

S70%

App works great as it is and its really useful. Would really like the ability to tag and sort videos for different athletes and exercises. Even more importantly in my eyes though would be the ability to share processed videos and replay two vids side by side (hint, check out hudl technique).

I've had this app for a while and use it as a strength and conditioning coach. I bought the package and was loving it. Recently it hasn't been tracking the bar so I uninstalled and reinstalled just to find the stuff I paid for is gone and i can't reinstall or even repurchase the additional metrics.
