Fabulous Styrofoam Collage-Style Scrapbook

Transform favorite papers and foam squares into creative custom artwork. Bold patterns inject new life into otherwise neutral spaces - and you can change it up anytime!

Materials

STYROFOAM Brand Foam
Sheets, 36" x 12" x 1", two

Other Materials
Cardstock-weight decorative papers, 12" x 12", six
Coordinating ribbon, 1" x 8-1/3 yds.

Tools
Serrated knife
Candle stub or paraffin
Pencil
Ruler
Putty knife
Scissors
Straight pins
Sawtooth picture hangers with nails, six, OR wall
Thick, white craft glue
Optional: Dental floss

Instructions

1. Wax serrated knife with candle stub or paraffin. Measure
and mark three 12" x 12" squares on each foam sheet; cut along
lines. (Hint: Foam may also be "cut" with tightly held length of dental
floss; stand foam on edge and firmly draw floss down through foam.)

2. Use putty knife to spread thin, even coat of white glue on
front of first foam square. Adhere one sheet of paper to foam
and smooth paper with fingers.

3. Repeat Step 3 to cover all six foam squares. If desired,
pin paper at corners as glue dries. (Hint: Papers may appear wavy at
first, and will smooth out as glue dries.) When dry, remove pins.

4. Cut six 50" ribbon lengths. Beginning and ending at one
lower corner, glue ribbons around foam squares, allowing a bit
of overlap. Pin ribbon to foam until glue dries; remove pins.
(Hint: Foam is very forgiving; if paper does not exactly meet
foam edges, run edge of foam square along a tabletop, compressing foam.)

5. Glue sawtooth hanger ends to top center back of each panel.
Dip nail tips into glue and push firmly into foam through
hanger holes; let dry before hanging. Wall putty may also be
used to hang panels.
