Best DIY Pink Ombre Cake Dessert

this application will share you how to make cakes in a mug, so we thought it would be a lot of fun to put little cakes in these glasses and make the cutest shot of cake! Plus, we're absolutely terrible at cake decorating and these are a great alternative to birthday cake without having to worry about the hassle of decorating them to make them look presentable. Annddd you can totally make these with any color! we're planning a funfetti party, and rainbow versions of these cake shots would definitely fit right in!


Supplies :
– Vegetable shortening
– 3 cups all-purpose flour
– 4 teaspoons baking powder
– 1/2 teaspoon salt
– 2 sticks unsalted butter at room temp
– 2 1/3 cups sugar
– 5 egg whites
– 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
– 1 1/2 cups milk
– Red food coloring
– Small shot glass or miniature glass (I got mine at Party City)
– A circle cookie cutter the same diameter as the glass you are using
– Your favorite frosting for in between layers of cake

Drections :

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brush five 9-inch round cake pans with shortening. Set aside.

2. Whisk together flour, baking powder and salt and set aside. In a separate bowl, cream together butter and sugar. Slowly add the egg whites and mix until combined. Add vanilla and mix. Add flour mixture and milk slowly, alternating between the two. Mix until combined.

3. Divide the batter evenly into 5 bowls. Add the red food coloring in drops to each bowl. For my lightest color, I used half of a drop and for the darkest color I used 3 drops. Mix the food coloring well. Transfer each color to a cake pan and place in oven. Cook for 8-10 minutes. Allow to cool completely.

4. Once cooled, remove from cake pan and cut out circles with your cookie cutter. Ice the bottom of the glass with frosting and place and the lightest color on top of the icing. Ice on top of the lightest color and place the next color on top of that. Continue doing this until you’ve used up all of your colors.
