Baidu Translate-EN CH JP TH RU

During a 2 week trip to China, I tried out several translation apps and my friend, a native speaker, verified that this app was intelligible far more often (~75%-80% of the time, with careful EN to CH phrasing). Also, the camera translation and voice-to-text translation, were almost as good. The biggest drawback is that internet is required for effective communication. A smaller issue is that the camera only translates horizontal text. On a number system, I would rate it 4.7 out of 5.

Translates much more closely and accurately than Google can. Great for double checking you understand the person you're speaking to. The articles are a nice bonus but with no knowledge of what level they are it can be very difficult to read them to improve my learning speed.

Best translation app for Chinese, but why does the screen "Please speak Chinese" show up every time I open the app and freeze my phone for about 5 seconds? I'll give five stars if this issue is fixed.

translation is same as google, or google has better option. the only thing in which baidu was good, it gave the user correct pinyin with tones, but now they stoped the pinyin in updates, so Baidu also become just like other translators or worse than those. you could not compare "universal Google" with locally used Baidu, only made for Chinese people

不一樣的月光 Translated from Cantonese to English is "Inina Ptnaq Na Bcingan". From Chinese to English is "Not the same as the moon" which is correct!

Could be much faster, looks like it takes 500ms too long before generating the translation. Generally using Google translate. Furthermore there should also be an option to modify or add new unknown words to Baidu translate. The community will improve Baidu's translation app. There are many foreigners using this app know.Let them check add and improve the vocabulairy. Baidu should set up a system that will check new added word every minute with a computer or human eyes to maintain clean translations. Another good tip is to add Pinyin, so people could visualize the pronounciation.

Nice app...The voice service should be improved.. It can't understand my English.. but Google can...

I'm still relatively new to China so I haven't utilized this app to the best of it's ability; however, it's been good so far. The camera feature hasnt worked for me yet, but that may be because I'm not using it right.

When using voice, usually it heard different from what we are saying. But compare to other apps, this app is one of the best.

The speak and translate is great but the camera scan and translate is not doing well takes time to focus then shoot then translate which takes about 2 full minutes if your fast also needs the net to do the job :(

What happened to the pinyin translation? I can't read chinese characters so this is no longer a useful app after update :(

Used other translation app for years, now I feel this one is the easiest to use so far, and have a very complete funtion list.

Good translation, but can't camera recognize vertical Chinese texts. Hope this can be improved. Then should get 5 star!

Actually translates phrases that I say at least 90%of the time

sometimes,it is slow when I found words.

They send you notification after notification! Not worth your time!

I had the settings set to no notifications...but the still kept waking me up all night!

Am giving it 4 stars as I want the developers to make this the best ever translation app. The reality is it is very very good.

Baidu translator is a helpful app and I have found that it is quite useful in my study life.

This app is extremely useful for communicating with Chinese people, especially in China since this service isn't blocked by the Great Firewall. Translation appears to be particularly accurate too.
