Don't Forget It

Don't Forget It is a handy tool to keep track of all of those little tasks that come at you throughout the day. It's a quick and easy way to remind you of the things that make your day successful. Let me give you an example.

Here's the situation that led me to develop this app. I was busy at work one morning, deep in thought on a project and typing a way at the computer. A coworker came by asking me to make a phone call for him. It was not a high priority task but still important to get done. So not wanting to lose focus on my current project, I took a mental note of what he asked, and we both went on with our days.

Well lunch came and went, I worked on other things, talked with coworkers, and the day went on. Then 4:00 rolled around and I'm going through my day, making sure I did everything I needed to do. The phone call! It was such a simple task. It would have taken literally less than a minute. Why didn't I do it right when I was asked to? Oh yeah, I was really into that project. I was in my zone. Maybe it was my coworkers fault for asking me to do something when I was so deep in thought. If only there was some way I could have been reminded of this without having to lose my focus.

I could have written a Post-It note to myself and stuck in on my computer but I like to keep a neat work area and I'm not a fan of unnecessary clutter. I could have sent an email to myself but I get enough emails throughout the day that it'll get lost in the cyber pile. I could have made the call right when I was asked but this is a particularly chatty customer and I didn't want to risk getting lost in small talk on the phone. Maybe there's an app to do this.

I did what I usually do when I'm looking for an app. I search the Google Store, download the first three apps that seem relevant, and take them for a test drive. Long story short, there wasn't an app that did exactly what I wanted. I get annoyed at unnecessary login screens. I don't like the endless options that don't get me closer to accomplishing my goal. And I really loathe long loading screens and waiting times.

If you want to do something right, do it yourself. So I wrote Don't Forget It.

Don't Forget It is a way to get rid of this annoyance so you can log tasks quickly, efficiently, and carefully, while not losing concentration on your current task at hand. In just a few clicks, you can create a task with a name, brief description, and reminder. Tasks are categorized into Personal, Business, Phone Calls, and Lists so you can easily find your tasks later.

I can easily keep track of several people asking me several things during several deep thinking projects. Now when 4:00 rolls around, I take a look at my app and if there's anything left uncompleted, it gets done immediately. But most things are already taken care of.
