For a smart home app with automation, it's pretty buggy. Schedule time is stuck on Eastern Pacific regardless of app time or fan time. The screens do not update unless I close and reopen the app. I was able to get it working once I recognized these issues. For what the fans cost, the app should be better.

[UPDATE 1 YEAR LATER] Still horrible. 50% chance one phone shows fan offline, while other phone is online. The only thing reliable is a simple remote.Forget Haiku if you are looking for smart fan. APP is horrible and reason to return Haiku fans. What a shame.

This app makes an otherwise nice fan a nightmare. It constantly signs me out and when it does, the fan changes settings. Rather than say I'm signed out, the app just crashes. It takes me 10 minutes to change fan speed on the app. I've had this thing for a year and no change. The fan is good but the technology is awful. Update- a Haiku rep contacted me to try to troubleshoot and I appreciate that...but nothing has changed and the fan is starting to make its own decisions, so now I'm waking up sweating because it thinks it should sign out of the app and then turn off at least once a week. Update. Customer service contacted me. After about 2 months got the fan working correctly. That lasted about 2 months. Now I can't keep the fan or the switch connected and they do whatever they want in the middle of the night again. This is not a smart fan. It is a really expensive annoying fan.

Miserable app attempting to connect everything. On the phone twice for an hour, finally one works and the other disconnects. Nice support team, app/connectivity F-

This app works sometimes. I just updated and can not, got the life of me, get my two fans to run of the app. Now I run one off the app and run one with the remote. How convenient is that? Especially nice when I am bragging about the great fans and spending more time working on lighting and speed than my guests.

Love the fan, but not a "fan" of the app. We were considering purchasing three more fans, but have decided to wait until the app matures. I agree with the reviewer analogy these fans are a Mercedes with an AM radio. And frankly, $2000 id's a lot to pay for this fan with the limited connectivity and clunky interface kid the app. The limitations for system integration is surprising, I for one would like to see compatibility with Samsung Smartthings and Google home/assistant. The app does have an iPhone tinge to it, so perhaps more focus on the android interface would help. I'm looking forward to great improvements to this app to accompany this great ceiling fan.

Total garbage! The worst Android app experience I've had since 2008. The UI design is a complete embarrassment and the app literally does nothing for me yet. I was able to add my Nest account, but I have no idea how to connect to my Haiku fan. The app has no guidance and I can't find any instructions on the website. I tap "Connect a Device" and it shows me a blank screen with a "Done" button. Great. I tap "Rooms & Devices", add a room, tap "Save" and then it's nowhere to be found. Gone.

It recently had some extra work and is now slightly better. But (for example) my fan stops when my phone goes out. Seriously, how is it possible that an app is this bad in 2017. Is feels like some soviet thing from 1980... After a lot of fiddly nonsense I mostly get my single fan to do what I want, but JEZUS... I suggest you build a completely new app. And get some professional programmers. I'm very sorry for the team behind this app, but it's just a prestigiously bad app. Love the haiku fans though, so I'll be patient. But won't buy any extra before the moment that the app becomes at least 'decent'.

The app is terrible. Whenever I have problems, I go run and find my old iPad just for this one app. You can't even rrrdrt a password with this app, no prompts and then the App gets stuck. App constantly drops the smarter cooling temp way lower than I set it at. The entire android app is the worst thing about an otherwise excellent product.

R70%
by R####:

Great fans poor app. Looks like it's trying to be an iOS app on android. Constantly failing to find my fans and behaving erratically. Scheduled events are random and sometimes it thinks my fans have no lights. This app needs alot of work to make it stable.

I refuse to use the app in its current form. I don't want to create a user profile just to be able to control my Haiku light on my personal network. The app was much better before this "feature".

R70%
by R####:

To start and be clear, I love my Haiku Fan and my 6x Haiku Lights in my kitchen, but the app to control them and functionality is absolutely terrible, and not at all what I thought I was getting based on the advertising that is currently on the BAF/Haiku Home website. I even bought a 14' BAF ShopFan because I love the product itself that much. That being said...there are definite changes that need to happen immediately. The fan and lights are constantly disconnecting and not showing up as part of my network. Lights don't follow schedules as expected. Changes made in the app don't "stick" from one menu setting to the next. It's a real nightmare, and I'd expect a lot more considering the cost of these (~$1500/fan + $200+/light). Physically these items are great, and I love what they can do, but this app and the ability (inability) to pair it with my "smart" home/ecobee3 make me want to pull my hair out.

The fan is awesome!.but the app sucks! When set the time for the lght to on,it is not accurate & wont off itself even when the end time is set

These guys have some issues with WiFi/network/setup implementation.... But what other fan has to even deal with that? Awesomeness!!!

X70%
by X####:

The fan itself is a marvel. The app is a constant struggle. Why is it so slow and clunky? I have a Samsung Note 5 which is relatively new, so it's not exactly a slow phone. First, drop the screen transition animations. Unnecessary. Second, drop your iPhone coders (for the Android version, of course) and hire a proper Android UE/UX team and coders. You're shooting yourself in the foot. You're a Mercedes Benz with an AM radio!

I have haiku lights and this application is not very intuitive and still need some improvements. I am living in Texas and when I set an event to change the brightness of the lights at 9:00 pm, it is is happening at 8:00 pm.... Edit: With the help of the support, I was able to fix the issue. Everything is perfect now....

R70%
by R####:

It frequently wipes out my setup and the app is so NOT intuitive it's just annoying. And does anyone have trouble with their remote control?

R70%
by R####:

Does what it say's on the tin, Haiku really needs to step up and support IFTTT to allow for integration with other automation systems. Would be cool if the app showed the sensor data from the fan like the current detected temperature.

R70%
by R####:

This is the worst gimick ever, tried to set up 2 dance studios on separate networks so that instructors can adjust them separately. Found out the hard way after 8 resets that the networks only allow 8 devices to be on them at once so now each studio has 1 fan that is operated separately. Also each time you want a new network, you have to uninstall and reinstall the app. And if you update some of the fans and not the others they wont function on the network, but you cant update them without starting the network over...

You can't control it away from home like to turn on and off your lights to deter burglars, but the app works well and does what I need it to do. However, I really wish it could display what the temperature and humidity sensors read

I have 4 Haiku fans in different rooms of my house, each with their own WiFi wall control. In each room the wall control is grouped exclusively with the fan in the same room to allow it to change the speed and light settings in the room independently from the other fans. Ideally the app would let me integrate with my Ecobee3 so that when my HVAC turns on, it can trigger all 4 fan groups to turn on at once. Unfortunately, the app only allows me to pair the Ecobee to a single fan at this time.

These fans and the associated app are marketed and priced as a premium product yet the app belongs to a $50 kmart fan. Very disappointed, when you spend over 2k for a product you expect the whole thing to be slick. This is just sloppy. The functionality of the app is appalling, I don't even know where to start with the numerous issues with it!!!

When setting schedule, smart cooling starts from 41 degree Celsius in drop down option. While in normal smart cooling I am able to choose 27 Celsius. If schedule it has to be warmer? By your support request have reinstall and change reading to metric but the results still the same

Not terribly user friendly with limited options for troubleshooting beyond, "delete it and start over". Better integration to other smart home products including "works with Nest" is needed.

R70%
by R####:

Title says it all... You pay a huge premium for the fan (which is a great fan) but you get a very cheap app that does not work as well as it should. Integrating with Nest is also a difficult process due to app bugs (in app buttons don't function well). Also, it's worthy to mention that Android 7.0 is out and this app and its developers have floundered on keeping it up to speed with the times.

K70%

The app is great when it actually works, but it still is totally buggy. Frequently need to restart it (hangs in splash screen) and doesn't behave well I'm the background. This is clearly a case where the app was not designed with Android design patterns in mind. Please re do, there is little value salvaging this iPhone style app. (The fans are awesome, they deserve A REAL Android app)

Got my Haiku and installed. Great fan. The app crashes or hangs every time. Have only been able to use it successfully once. Cannot get connect with nest to work. App and nest were the primary selling points of the fan. Very frustrating to pay very top dollar for a premium product and have such an epic fail.
