BACtrack

Broken, broken, broken. It was moody on Android 6, but it never worked on 7. Great app even works, which for me is never. I have this useless piece of plastic that has nice blue lights and a hole in it, any takers? UPDATE: So here we go - another month gone by and update that supposedly fixes it doesn't change a thing. DO NOT BUY THIS. It really doesn't help that you're supposed to use breathalyzer once in a while - I cannot use mine. I will try to RMA it as broken device. Or sue the company. This is below ridiculous.

The app has always been buggy, sometimes not working, other times running location queries constantly, even when closed. Now, it will not connect at all. I have android 6.0.1 on my Verizon S6, and cannot get it to connect at all. The app keeps saying to "Turn on BACtrack", when it is powered up right next to the phone. Bluetooth can see the device just fine, but the app will not connect to it. Tried to clear cache and data, uninstall/reinstall, nothing worked so far.

After reading the comments about this app and it not working with Android 7.0, I was regretting my decision to buy the BacTrack Mobile device. I have a Samsung S7 Edge running Nougat (Android 7.0) and was worried there would be problems using the app. After reading the instructions and charging the BacTrack mobile gadget, I fired up the app, followed the instructions and it connected nicely. My first test was with no alcohol in my system, and the app read 0.0. Good. I then went out on a drinking session, 1 tequila, 1 (150 ml) wine, 3 gin tonics over a 3 hour period. I took a taxi home and measured my BAC, and it came out at 0.038 which seemed ok. I then added a 4 glasses of wine and reached 0.059. The app and the device seemed to track well with my usage. I also matched the measurements with an android drink logging app and a cheap breathalyzer. The android app over stated my BAC, while the cheap device (semi-conductor based) gave slightly lower readings but within 1 degree of the BacTrack app/device measurement. No complaints...seems to work fine with Android 7.0 as of today. I gave 4 stars because I have yet to prove the device is police device accurate.

Downgraded to 1 star since it STILL doesn't work. Waste of money at this point. Used to work great. But my phone just updated to Android 7 and now the app won't connect at all. Giving 2 stars instead of 1 since it seems to be an Android problem. But it's still of no use to me now. Who knows when another update will be out that fixes it.....

Just does not work anymore. Once connected via Bluetooth it locks up. It worked before the google update and now it always locks up. I was excited about it. But now it just a paper weight. Do not know what to do with it now.

Have android 7 on S7 and works. My problem is why do they need my location. I just want this to check my BAC, not track me, not know where I'm at, and I don't want to share my BAC with anyone. I don't need a ride, don't want to share and just want a nice tester to check my BAC. the only way to use it is with this app that requires your GPS to be on or it won't work. Bought a really nice and expensive BT-M5 and can't check my BAC without sharing my location, shame on you Bactrack!

Struggled with getting this app to work. Engaged tech support. They responded quickly, however they confirmed that this app does NOT work with the current version of Android (7.0). No timeline was given for a fix, buyer beware! Additionally, the reviews here are littered with people complaining of similar issues for older versions, so it seems that they do not put much effort into the Android app. If you have an Android phone, I may recommend not buying this product. BACtrack is lying to you. Blaming the release of Nougat and Google for this app not working is absurd. Every other Bluetooth peripheral works perfectly; if anything, better than ever. Such is Google - getting better.. unlike BACtrack, perpetually getting worse, charging insane amounts for products that rarely work as designed (or advertised).

I was very exited for this product. I bought it on Amazon one week before Android 7 was released. The breathalyzer worked great before upgrading, but only after upgrading my OS I learned it is NOT COMPATIBLE WITH ANDROID 7. BACtrack support has no timeline for patching this and has not offered other solutions after asking many times.

So in short i have an ignition interlock device in my car, i bought this so i could know when i could stop drinking and be able to drive. This morning (after not drinking for 2 days) it said i had a .02 bac. And yet my car started just fine? This thing has made me believe my body isn't processing alcohol properly and will be returned asap.

Didn't work with my Nexus 6p when updated to Android N. I just got my pixel with android N and now it works. Doesn't make any sense but I'm happy it works for me again

Total disaster, doesn't work on Android, connects and disconnects randomly, useless screens, can't measure. iOS app works much better, but I'm on an Android Nexus 5X and it's a total failure. I'm returning my Breathalyzer because of the really bad app.

Hardware is good. App developers have a tough time keeping up with different phones and os updates but they do get on top of it eventually.

Can't even use my new device without providing an email address! This is complete crap I'm going to return it and buy one that does not run through my phone that is stupid

I have enabled cloud to track history but times are incorrect... It will show me drunk 10 hrs later and I haven't tested this is after it showed zero.

Crap. Won't work with Axon 7. Why it can't just have a small LCD screen is beyond me and stupid. Guess I'll be returning this crap to Costco.

I had to unistall because according to their license agreement they can send you any email as often as they want. The Super Bowl commercial I could not get rid of until I deleted the app.

Can't even check my BAC, app doesn't get that far before freezing. My bactrack device is now completely useless without a functioning app. Bottom line is the app does not work.

Worked great before 7.0. Refunds for everyone, please! They haven't updated the app since September '16?!?? REFUND!!

Goes to warm up then nothing. A very expensive paperweight. May want to update soon guys, your star rating is falling fast.

Working again! Thanks for updating and fixing the stall issue. Love this device, hopefully updates will come quicker in the future.

Just got it and have the same problems. Wish I had read this first It just won't stay connected to Android

Scanning never stops even though the lights indicate its connected. The app just keeps scanning. It's not good at all.

This stopped working after Android 7 Nougat upgrade. I gave 3 stars only because I used to be able to use it and I'm hopeful I will again.

I can't get past the warming up screen. Is there a fix coming for this? If not, I'll take this back to the store.

Worked great with my iPhone. Wont even load with my samsung. So basically worthless! So peeved.

No longer works. Been told it's Google's issue for months but it is their product that doesn't work. Frustrating.
