Backroad Navigator for Android
"Duplicate provider authority" error whenever I try amd load v2. Not very impressed so far.
Paid but still can't access any maps until I pay again asks me what Province then asks for another $1 per month and I used the last $1 on my account to try the trial so I need to go buy another play store card to try it because the price is misleading it should say must have $2 in account for free trial
Awesome app till upgrade. Problems installing and now can't open previous account
I was somewhat skeptical of this app after reading the reviews. First i only have 2 complaints the maps off line are huge if you want them.to be useful and you can't store them on your sd card. Second I had to zoom in and out on occasion to get rid of grey blocks to see where i was at. Ok now for the good stuff... This thing is excellent i used it for a total of 14 days offline on two separate occasions and it saved my ass and worked perfectly except for.the grey block thing. I was and am overly impressed with this app.. It tracked each day got.me back to.camp safely marked all.my way points and saved each one for future reference.. I am gladly going to pay my monthly fee for once I am getting more than what I pay for in this application and for the little things that irk me I am pretty dam happy. 12 bucks a year best money have spent in a while.. oh one more thing.. Speed up your off line downloads please.. a day to get an offline map is brutal... But thank you keep making it better. 5 stars
Absolute garbage. Dont waste you're time and money. There is way better apps out thers
Get the map books, I like them, but this is not worth the subscription for a gps navigator. I was hoping this would be easier to use than google maps for back road navigation but I'll just continue to use Google maps along with my Backroads map books.
Found out how to get road names. Updated review
Great app/great interface. Customer service is excellent.
powerful like the web version maps that are included, like being able to down load maps as well as create trails for areas and easy sync to computer
Can't log in with my new device, where is my account?
Does an excellent job of mapping and back-trackin g my 4x4 trips
Loads of details. Worth the price
Sloooooooooow.
The interface and map itself are AWESOME. However, some key points are missing. A *major* boat launch is missing in my area, but is listed in my physical BRMB copy. Also... some of the lake descriptions are a bit off. This app is useful as a jumping-off point for a trip, but talk with locals to fill in parts BRMB is missing. It's not perfect, but it's an excellent complement to the physical books. I'll be maintaining my subscription for now
I've been buying the books themself for a while now for my overlanding trips, fishing trips and camping trips. When I found this app I was pretty exited to try it out. I took the time to give it a try and make sure I understood how it works before rating it. I love this. I have had no issues with it so far, it brought me to my waypoints I created with ease. The only thing I would like to see (mostly because I'm military) is a compass in mils and coordonates in MGRS. Other than that good job BRMB
Horrible app great maps. Not very intuitive and now even after I payed for a subscription it keeps saying it expires in 1 day. No way to renew??? Or I am not able to fiqure it out easily. The map with layers is slow and the legend is non existent. I used it offline but you cannot store for offline use on a sd card? Too bad their maps in paper are half decent. I think that is where they should stick with
I found he map hard to use, the roads don't show gates on the logging roads. The toggles in the settings menu allows you to turn off, but does not allow you to turn them back on. Unless you exit the settings menu, and re enter it. Then the toggles you just turned off are back on. This was highly disappointing to me, I'll be sticking with the paper maps from now on.
Pretty basic, but does provide a lot of useful information (especially the Crown Land atlas). A few things I'd love to see: share/export waypoints (ie. with Google Maps, Locus, etc), import/export KMZ/GPX (tracks, routes, layers, waypoints, etc), faster screen updates when layers are active, faster tile downloading, heading vector. But, all in all, definitely worth the money.
Seems like a well thought out interface but i am looking for atv trails and the maps are so busy that i have no idea how to distinguish them from other stuff and i couldn't find a ledgend , also it really needs an option to download the whole map for the province for offline use, making small offline maps is time consuming and confusing.
I love brmb especially their map books but for gps and apps i think i will switch to gaia even though i prefer the way brmb is setup operates more user friendly love the maps but just to dang slow it takes for ever to load and everytime you zoom in and out it flashes black and white trying to load i am so sick of waiting for this map to load areas...lastly i dont care what i pay 1 dollar or 100 bucks so long as the app functions fast and smooth
I paid for the app and monthly fee but it won't let me download offline maps. Absolutely need this option. I am using on latest Android version. Please advise.
Been paying monthly fees and when i finally need app i forget my login password. Try to reset but still waiting for password reset email.... but you guys never forget your monthly fees. Surely youre embarrassed
I paid for download and can't get free 30 day trail
Used this for a fishing trip in the boonies and the app was very helpful and super accurate (map function)
Really like the offline setup.. works great
On the web site it looks like it may be useful but on Vancouver Island never got it to do anything beyond menus to display. Not very useful and awkward to get to work - at least my impression.... Perhaps if you download everything ahead of time on computer then transfer it may very well work well and be useful .....
Can't even look at the app without spending more money...Not fair. I own a very handy back roads mapbook, and a gps... I'll just stick to that. Not impressed - keep the $1
As a moving map it works well. Best map for off road use. The gpx tracking it's a bit weak but that's fine. There are other apps that can run in the background. Downloading even small offline maps is slow, we have nuclear fast internet at work but map download is crazy slow. Why can't this app be moved to the SD card? Moving the app and maps to the SD card should be the nerd's highest priority, at least the maps.
Non user friendly. Canada topo maps are freely downloadable from the government. The map books in the beginning were great, now days you pay a lot of money for something filled with ads.
Can't install error -505.. Why make a new app? The old One worked well. I'll be refunding.
This app has great potential but the server is SOOOOOOO INCREDIBLY SLOW. Downloading and loading map while on WiFi or LTE takes forever. I'm will not be paying for another month. MIGHT try it again next summer to see if it got any better.
Just downloaded and subscribed. At first the App is little confusing and a pretty slow, but 10 minutes of poking around, it gets better. I do wish that there was a legend, so I knew what the different lines meant. As an avid Bushman, this App is already quite valuable to me. Also, linking the Fishing Regs to the App is also a plus, and knowing which WMU your in, will have positive results when it comes to conservation. For those upset about the monthly fee, in my opinion, if you can't afford $1 per month, then you should probably seek a financial professional for help. Good App Guys & Gals.
poor .very slow and clunky to draw maps every time you pan or zoom . all road and trail labels way to small.payed money for this and never use it , instead use less pretty looking free map navigation apps. for back roads and trail recreation.
I figured I'd give it a try, with so little reviews but it doesn't really do anything. I bought the NS map, but all the selections after that are empty? It tells me about all these great features but doesn't have any?
Why charge for an App that does nothing unless you spent more. It should be free and addition fees for maps or map layers.
Tried out this app on my fishing trip. Impressive amount of info for fishing and hunting. Great value for outdoorsmen
Maps work pretty well. They seem to load pretty slowly, even though they are downloaded. Same data as the paper books. Overall decent. Also, it should rotate when the tablet is rotated.
Please update... I want the online webmap back! It was so handy!
Had a peek and so far it is a very impressive app

Overall the app is pretty good. I've only used it a few times offroad and it's worked for me. My biggest complaint is the offline mode. It's got a couple of major issues that need resolving. It technically works, but it's severely crippled. 1) Downloading an area, about 1.2GB, literally takes days to complete. In order for this to actually finish the app needs to be running in the foreground or else Android will kill it, meaning you have to start over. A royal PITA. 2) Offline downloading should happen in an Android foreground service. This will prevent the download from being interrupted and having to start over. I've managed to download one area around me in full res for offline viewing, but I need a bunch more as I have hundreds of trails right around my house with no service. Edit: So I got a reply saying to download smaller areas, this is such a hackish bandaid fix. A proper fix is a faster network and the download running as as service. With my 150MB internet I can download several gigs in just a few minutes. 1.2GB should NOT take 3 days. The hosting server is throttling the download to painfully slow speeds.
