About KiVi
The visual system is the most complicated sensory system in the human body; it is the first organ to be form in fetal life. However, it is the least mature system once born. Even though they have the anatomical structures needed for sight, infants have not learned how to use them yet. They spend their first weeks and months in learning to see.
As children grow, more complex skills, like visual perception, develop. The visual sense is one of the most important senses since the visual skills allow other maturation process to happen. These maturation processes are more likely to happen after early visual experiences that help to stimulate the neurological bound.
This app helps to stimulate the infant’s vision by showing different images with abstract figures that are highlighted in black and white since those are the colors in which babies can see. Also the images show some shades of red because this is the first color they can recognize. Bright cheerful colors help in the stimulation of the baby’s vision. By showing contrasting colors and shapes you help them develop the ability to see in colors very quickly.
