Learn Swedish with Babbel

Lessons often skip to the next screen before you get a chance to read the text in your native language and truly make sense of it. A next button rather than moving forward automatically when entering an answer would be better. As a beginner with learning a new language the auto advancement in the app is very frustrating.

Well, im Swedish and wanted to know if this was real and it is not when it says my name is mia it is saying im mia and not what it is sopposed to say jag gillar inte den här appen (i dont like this app in swedish)

Lessons are much too long and do a poor job of reinforcing new vocabulary. Does a terrible job of assessing your current knowledge and wants to make you a beginner again. Puts way too much focus on spelling numbers, this is not something you want to do often and could wait. Frustrating overall.

After a recent update there are several things that have gone wrong. When the voice is repeting a sentence the last word is often cut short. It is almost impossible to see ones progress as it seems to be saved randomly. I am not able to download the courses and just to start a course needs sometimes many attempts. And it asks everytime if I want speach recognition even though it is supposed to save my selection. This is an app that I have given 5 stars before so hopefully this will be fixed soon ...

Only displays USA English keyboard in app even when Swedish keyboard is only keyboard on phone. Therefore when words have non-English accent letters your answers will be incorrect. Language specific keyboards should be added to this app so we can select correct letters. FYI- I had to select every word as correct as I typed as had not changed back to my English keyboard before writing this review. Selecting singular keyboard before using app does not solve this problem.

Great app for learning basics and pronunciation. (I can't say whether it's very good for advanced learning, because I'm only ¼ of the way through.

I can't access this app offline, and if I get one question wrong, then it says I haven't completed the lesson.

Fantastic for grammar and gaining a good grounding

.... you can't learn a language by learning phrases. You need to learn word order, morphology, pronunciation, orthography, and all the stuff that most apps don't even bother to mention. This app is no acception, is just as good as everything else (which isn't good)

Ok in order of awesomeness for Ways to Learn Swedish that I have tried: 1. Full immersion 2. This app. Paid version. Free is good for super-beginners (year 0-1) 3. In-person group Swedish classes 4. Duolingo (mainly for vocab only, though) 4. Pimsleur CDs through lesson 20 - tied for Duolingo because if you use this in the car it's great for speaking and comprehension, putting together basic sentences. 5. Say It in Swedish Podcast - - not a ton of content covered in each but very entertaining. Great since the main problem with language learning resources is boredom 6. 8 Sidor - app with news in super basic Swedish, good for practice and, again, fights the boredom factor. Particularly good for practice with your native speaker friends. 7-9 other various flashcard apps. Don't have the usability of Duolingo or interestingness of any of the above 10. SwedishPod101 - mainly just trying to get you to buy stuff. Clunky, messy website and subscription system, hard to find your resources after you pay for them, not well organized. Not fun to use. Just don't recommend unless you get it for free somehow.

I have tried so many language learning systems, this is it. I cannot believe how fast I'm learning and how fun it is. I love recorded audio ability to practice the language out loud!!

As Im saying the best investment is in yourself and this app help with it in a really great way. Lycka till!

Simple and easy to use with no nonsense that I have found in other apps. Really enjoyable and fun.

Too bad it's not free. Education should be free.

Fun, easy to use and very clever. The Babbel app is a fantastic and contemporary way to really learn a new language where and when it suits you. Obviously you still have to invest a substantial amount of time and effort in order to become proficient and properly master the language. But it's all there - I'm a fan!

A fun and very effective way to acquire confidence in using a new language. App functionality is very good but it's the content and learning methods that made me sign up for a subscription.

The most useful app I used so far for improving my Swedish language skills. It also features voice recognition to help my pronunciation skills. Well done Babbel !
