Babbel – Learn Spanish for Android
Please help the app has reset my progress to zero!
I like the learning method a lot, the little pieces of information about grammar are helpful and well timed. However, I am becoming increasingly frustrated with the poor on screen keyboard. It frequently fails to recognise key presses. I really feel that a paid for app should be better than this.
Definitely the best app if you want to learn a new language fast!
I have the app obviously and it is a great way to learn more about this language
Make it cheaper
Really easy to use!
Really liked the app trial so purchased 3 month subs. Sadly after a few hours in its basically unusable as the keyboard keys do not work correctly, they either dont work at all and your tapping over and over or it picks the letter next to or above the key you want. Come on guys your taking money it has to work???
Frankly, I don't find it very helpful. The hurried grammar explanations and nebulous clues make it frustrating, even for review. I can't see how anyone actually learns anything permanent or useful. Disappointing and a waste of a premium subscription. Increasing my rating by one star for the great customer service.
No problem with the content. Having technical issues on a samsung S8 where the keyboard input actually doesnt line up with the key being pressed. This makes answering these questions extremely frustrating as it is virtually impossible to hit the space bar. Would have been nice if these questions were in the trial course as I am now stuck in a 3 month subscription. Anyone else having this issue on an S8?
The best language app I have tried. I was never good at languages at school but after a couple of months of using Babbel I'm actually making progress with my Spanish. I love how the different verb forms are explained and all the tips on pronounsiation.
Rather than having to create a user name and password to log into this app, Babel requires me to give them my existing email AND password? There is no good reason for this but I can think of plenty of bad ones. DO NOT TRUST THIS APP!
It's much more effective for me than the other popular option and is worth the subscription price for me. The keyboard is annoying (letters taller than other kb's, typos frequent). It also defaults to the lesson AFTER the next available one when opening the app.
Great app overall. But I recently move to a new smartphone. Luckily it copied over all my lessons, but the repeating word cards have not been unlocked again. Please fix. Hence only 3 stars
I was enjoying using the app and making progree. However, during the lesson if you take a break to make a note of a grammar point or vocab the app stalls and returns to the start. This INCREDIBLY frustrating and I would certainly exoect more from a service which charges, will not renew subscription and will choose another app in the future.
Got to start the course then after a couple of lessons it asks you to set up a payment plan. Not a very nice set up either. Exactly the same type of app as Duolingo which is much better. Nicer set up and all the courses are FREE! Will be uninstalling and sticking with Duolingo. Disappointing.
The free lessons are minimal. With a subscription you get plenty but rather lengthy and cumbersome. Not many variations in answers are allowed, which is demotivating. At least it accepts missing accents. Also you have to learn the Spanish vosotros no matter you need it or not. However you can download as many lessons as you want to learn offline.
The keyboard is off on samsung S8. When you try to do the fill in the blanks you have to drag your finger around to select the right letter. If you try to tap the letter on tje screen select the one above it. It is really ruining studying for. Instead of having fun i find myself frustrated trying to just get the app to work.
This is a well-thought out app for learning a language. My only complaint, and it's a pretty big one, is that the keyboard is very glitchy. It's so bad that it really inhibits my motivation to use the app. If this were fixed, I would gladly give the app 5 stars.
I love the grammar explanations it really helps you understand how the language works and that is the best way to learn! I never understood why we say buenos dias so I sometimes said buenas dias....babel taught me that dia is male despite the "a" ending!
It's operator error! I don't retain info like I used to! But I know I am learning a lot with this app! Muy Bueno! Gracias Babbel. :)
It's okay, but some of the lessons just freeze at the end. There's no way to finish that lesson on the app, you have to skip it until you can get to a computer.
It doesn't explain why you got something wrong. It tells you the right answer, but now why your answer was wrong. It seems a monkey could complete the tasks without learning anything. At least where I'm at. And I'm not confident whatsoever that the speech recognition is accurate enough. I don't feel like I'm saying things right, but the app says I am.
Seems to be a great way to learn. Have had a few glitches (sometimes it will just say I repeated a phrase correctly before I even say anything). But it is fun and I think I'm learning alot. We'll see in a few months.
I like the app and am definitely learning more Spanish but I'd like to be able to review the grammar. At the moment you have to write it down or resit the entire course which is a pain
It's a good app overall, though a bit pricey for what you get, outside of the free content. The button reaction/process time isn't fast. The challenges are not challenging enough.
I switched to Babbel after hitting a roadblock with its main competitor. Babel quickly filled in my knowledge gaps and kickstarted my learning. Babbel is more structured and comprehensive. It is well worth the price.
I'm in middle school taking Spanish. I was struggling then I found babbel and it changed my grade from a C to an A fast. Thank you babbel and all of your wounderful staff :3
I have read some of the ratings and I have to agree with one of them. Babbel is indeed more structured, and clearer than the free app. I've tried both and I prefer this one much more. Being a language teacher myself I am rather critical but all in all I would recommend Babbel to anyone who is dedicated enough to do a course alone.
Not really any different to the free alternative available. Instantly tries to sell you an upgrade after a very poor first lesson. I'll just leave this here.... ????
It takes you through the language in a clear, structured fashion. Vocab builds and grammar is clearly explained. The daily reviews help reinforce learning. To get the most out of this app, you need to practice regularly. You also need conversation practice with real people and to read books, magazines etc appropriate to your level. The experience would be even better if there was some sort of placement test so users with previous exposure to the language could quickly start at an appropriate level.
Learning a new language is hard. This seems to help alot but is a big commitment, good app for those starting with the right mindset
It says free but then I get emails saying i have just 12 hours left of "free"
I like the content although I have had several errors due to technical glitches which has been a bit frustrating but overall, it has been very easy to use.
I have key board issues while using this app making it difficult to progress in training.
Very good I usually found it boring and hard to learn languages but this is easy and you don't have to go to a language class can learn from the comfort of your own home
The most advanced course is both ridiculously easy (very early intermediate Spanish at best). The app is challenging not in its language testing but in its clunky interface. This includes asking you to solve word jumbles to enter most answers instead of giving you an actual keyboard, and presenting some exercises that are completely unclear with no instructions (e.g. you know the answer but can't input it due to the interface). To add insult to injury, the app won't let me direct where to store the lessons which seem mandatory to download, and despite downloading I still have to wait 5-8 seconds between each and every question as it hangs before loading. I will try using the browser based program to salvage my wasted money but am highly disappointed that the app is such an amateur piece of junk.
Well-structured and theme-based learning program. Repetitive exercises are a great way to strengthen learned material!
Fantastic! Yes, it costs money, but it's worth it if you're trying to learn a language outside of a classroom setting. Considerable step up from Duolingo. (although I like that too!)
I have been using the app for 2 years with no problems. Now the new update has reset my progress to zero, I was over halfway through all courses. I am also having problems with lessons loading up offline now.

Good app but the new update has reset all my progress to zero. I thought you were fixing bugs not adding new ones.
