BAA 2016 for Android
The BAA 2016 app will allow spectators to track up to ten runners in the April 18th race, and select for which checkpoints (10K, Half, 30K, 35K, 40K, Finish) they would like real-time updates of these runners. Spectators will also be able to search for runners by bib number or by name, view a real-time race leaderboard, and search for results after the race.
The app allows runners to easily view key race information, tour the race course via Maps, and easily share their race experience with the Boston Marathon on social media before or after the race.
Says my runner has not started but got update earlier of their 10k time which disappeared. Disappointed as tracked online last year. Since tv only focus on elite/Olympic athletes the app & online was only way to see how he was don't.
No splits or times for elite men, women or wheel chair race. App broken
Got a notification that one of the runners I'm following crossed the 10K mark but when I open the app it doesn't have any data for any runner. Worthless.
Would it be too much to ask that you list the *actual* start times, instead of just saying "9 waves between 8:50 and 11:15"?
Good idea with beautiful results. It's a pleasure for me to participate.
Only got one notification for both runners I had as favorites, and completed the race.
A little quirky, but gave me the information I wanted.
App opens and fails
Crashes when I select menu items like Maps on the main page or Expo details on the side menu.
Crashes when I try to access maps part of the app
Every time I went to check on something ot would open and then promptly stop working.
What is up with the pace times? Seeing stuff like 7:89 and paces that are flat wrong (25:01 5k isn't 8:31 pace). It's not a difficult calculation. For as many colleges in the area, you'd think someone could figure this out.
Buggy: for example, every participant's "Distance Covered" is always "42.19 KM" no matter where their last checkpoint really was, and checkpoint notifications didn't show up until 40K. Not user-friendly: no refresh button or pull-down operation on Favorites screen to update data; also difficult to search for participants ... you must sometimes "clear" the search before a new search attempt ... which then also resets the search field back to "First Name". Also, there's apparently no way to see all your favorites positions at the same time on a single map.
No use the two runners I was tracking were constantly on 41.91k couldn't see miles and the splits didn't load for ages
Very cool
Doesn't miles per hour avg. The map says her distance covered is 42.19 k but she hasn't finished yet. The Bank of America app was better when she ran in Chicago.
DOB field doesn't work, so can't login. Samsung galaxy 5
Like it, but can't logon as DOB field not accepted. Using kitkat presented with droid date picker for DOB field but does not accept as a valid date. Maybe a location issue as I'm in Canada so day/month may be switched around. No workaround I can see.
So much more interactive than last year! Great graphics and layout. Very easy to navigate. Well done. Worth the wait!
I think the website is a much better option... Talk about trolling for info. And a battery drainer - where is the no star option
Got over loaded day of race & wouldn't work
Awesome
Fayz
This app seems rather pointless. It lets me look up the runners I want to see but that is it, I can't click on their names or see any info about their racing. It says I can follow up to 10 runner....I can't even follow 1. Not worth the download, you're better off just going to the website.
No problems finding the app, I just searched 'Boston marathon' and it was the 1st result. Easy to search for runners; hit the star to add to your favorites. Only able to save 10 runners on your list though. No one should write a review pre-race day complaining of lack of info. Wave starts are at 10, 10:25, 11, and 11:25am EST. List updated as my friends passed the 5k, 10k, etc. points. I received alerts when they hit 10k, half mar checkpoints & finish. Great app for tracking friends from across the country.
Maybe I'm just early, but this app was difficult to locate in play store, and a Google search for 'BAA app' sent me to 2013 website download screen. Hopefully this is a faster app than last year! Love how I can simultaneously track multiple friends at once.
This app seems to pull a *lot*l of information directly from the BAA website, but not necessarily the information users are looking for. Would be great to include a link to wave and corral chart so spectators can estimate when their runners are going to cross the starting line. Schedule page doesn't include the second half of events, including the wave start times for race day.
Downloaded the app and can find my friends but can't figure out how to select for tracking. No instructions either.
Not impressed. Slow to non-responsive. Found participant in search, no bib #. I sure hope because at&t powered this that iPhone users have priority.
Googling for it I kept finding dead links and found little reference to it... [and just to confuse matters, the promotion for the new World Run app didn't differentiate it from this or link to this app]
It doesn't progress past the initial loading screen. Droid Incredible.
This is like the size of Microsoft Excel.
Every time the app opens takes 30s to load even from a notification. Info and new news just take you to the website so defeats the purpose of the app. BAA should do better than that.
Not opening on my android. Boooooo! Uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times now...
I've installed this three times and it won't load beyond the background pic. Samsung stratosphere.
Won't load. Stuck on the opening loading screen.
Still downloading huge file. With a whopping 10+ downloads to date I'm not sure what I'm getting into here...
Nice app
Won't run...

Can't add elites to favorites directly from leader board. Some bib numbers are missing while searching. Exact spelling required which is just annoying.
