1000 Books Before Kindergarten

I really like this app to keep track of the books I read to my littlest ones, and I'm glad that it can keep track of multiple children, but the scanning feature is way too sensitive for us! The reality is that I usually have said children climbing on me while I try to search for a book, and have major issues being perfectly still. (Not necessarily anyone's fault, but it would be perfect if it were easier to scan books).

Not very user friendly at all. The amount of steps needed to get a single book in the library is a little ridiculous. Many books can't be found in their library, so you have to search, but that never works so you have to enter it manually, which means you have to re-enter everything you've typed. I tap the search bar, tap scan, tap search then immediately tap again so I can enter a book manually. Also if you don't take a picture when you enter the book then you can't add one later. I think I'll pass.

A good idea, but way too many steps to add a book, and many books were not found. If you read the same book to 2 children, your work is doubled. Way too much time for a busy parent.

Adding the book to our library before adding it to the read last is redundant. I would like to just add it straight to the list and have it added to the library automatically. Adding a book to each child individually is annoying. It would be much more user friendly to be able to just check which kids read the book and add them all at one. The search feature is a joke. Half the time the books can't be found and when they can be found they often contain no info and can't be added to your list.

i think it messed up on me because i went back to add a book and one profile was gone, the one with most books. im going on the safe side okd school paper and pencil. it was nice while it lasted though

The app doesn't have most childrens books, and it often doesn't remember those I scanned. Also, it appears the app hasn't been updated since September 2015. I will not continue using the app since it takes too much time.

Crashes on me all the time. Sometimes when I scan the barcode on the book. The picture of the book doesn't match the title or it is not listed at all. Constantly imputing it manually. If it wasn't for my library participating in the program. I would never use it. Let alone suggest it to someone to someone to use. Frustrated!!

Great for keeping track, but has its issues. A lot of books say not found when I scan the bar code. Half the ones that I try adding from the list say no details, and I have to add them manually.

This app could be very useful for tracking books but it is so poorly designed that it makes tracking books a frustration. For example if I see a book in the library that we've read why can I not add it to my read list from there.

I work at a library that's rolling out the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten campaign this fall, so I thought I would try out the app before we went live. I am disappointed. The book scanning feature is ok, but having to go back in through multiple screens to check off finished books one at a time is a drag. It would be better if there was the option to have the books registered as finished when they were scanned. At the very least, it would be nice to be able to check off multiples. Not recommended.

Very buggy, redundant, and unreliable. As with books, old school paper is better than high tech.

This app is very poorly built. It never logs off...so you go back in to add book and it is constant error.

Want to love it, but falls short with user unfriendly workings between screens. Please fix.

Inconvenient to scan into a library and then click back to add it as read. The preset library is very small and missing most classics. It also lets you enter the same book multiple times so the get double and triple counted by mistake.

I've been using the app for about 6 months with over 400 books read to my 2 year old toddlers. I love the concept but there is a lot of room for improvement. Suggestions: 1) it would be so much nicer if we could check the books that where read (already in the library history) with an "add all checked books" button to make it quicker without having to go back and forward for each book each time. 2) Somehow add the same book to siblings without having to go back and forward. 3) Incentives - Possibly a clapping sound every 50 books read, a trophy for every 100, etc. With that said I am just happy to know there is something we can use to encourage us as parents to read to our children. I have suggested to many parents to use the app.

It is OK. Clunky to add books that are not found with Barcode. When removing a book from the library needs warning that the book is also going to be removed from read list.

Installed app and spent hour adding books for my son went to try one it didn't work tried several more of the books and none of those worked! I am very upset I wasted time on this

Keep crashing andnlosing my readers.

The app is very slow and cumbersome to use.

It's to hard to scan books because the pic is upside down and backwards

I had installed this app twice with a hope that I will make it work but it is very far from meeting any expectation. I am thinking of build one now. Two things are key - (1) able to add any and everybook and through different means. (2) able to update the list not only on which book being read but when and how many times. Someone needs to really spend sometime if they are serious about it.

The interface is a bit tedious when we've read a stack of books (the ability to select multiple books at once would be wonderful). But my biggest complaint is that every time I try to start it, it gives me a dialog saying "unfortunately, 1000 books before kindergarten has stopped" and I have option of clicking "report" or "ok". Five times. Every time. Once I click though those five error dialogs, I can start the app again and it will work - until the next time. Please fix this!

Organization of info input is not that great. I keep getting app error messages. We're now too far committed to stop using. Please fix

I had to replace my phone, but the ap saved my library and reading list! Could be much more user friendly, but it does the job.

So handy to keep track of books being read. For the second read and onwards you don't even have to scan it.

Needs: fewer clicks to add books, indicator toggle on library list "read/not read", allow edits & corrections on manually entered books, also include all fields of info on manual input form

Decided to use this app to track books that my daughter and I have read, and it still says we've read 0 out of 1000 books no matter how many we log.

This app is usually very handy but this morning when I went to add the book my daughter and I read my reader list and library had disappeared. Please fix! I don't want to start over!

Most of the books that I have read to my son can be found, but there are some that are not in the database. It's frustrating because they are new books. Otherwise, I enjoy adding books to my son's list. Being able to add multiple books at once would be a big plus.

Using this to log, but it is constantly stopping unexpectedly.

I wanted to like this app, it was working at first then started to crash and unable to find books either by scanning or entering the title.

Fix the glitch please! My baby has a lot of incentive riding on our account. She's read 221 books. And for some reason, everything on our account is lost and i can't sign in. I don't know if our library will honor my word if this doesn't get restored.

Please fix the pop up that says "unfortunately 1000 books has stopped" from freezing my ability to use any of my phone. Even trying to turn the phone off is disabled by this pop up. When the app works it's fantastic and so easy, but when it doesn't work it's very frustrating.

Have used this app for a couple of months now and it's great and makes it so much easier to keep track of what we've read. Not sure what has happened to this app but no I can load new books into my library. Please fix this so I can change my rating.

I love the concept of this app, I Would love it more if it worked! Hope it is fixed soon!

This could be a really good app but I hate how you have to add a book to your library 1 by 1. Then check off as read 1 by 1. My son and I have stacks of books we have already read, it's going to take forever to enter them the way this app is set up.

Error freezing my whole phone. Love the idea of this app, would be great if able to rate books as well or at least note if they were liked ir not liked

In theory it's a great idea but I agree with the other comments. You have way too many pages to type your book title into. Then when you do get it to search for the book, the book isn't in the library (popular, current books). Then I also get the 1000 books... Stopped working message like someone else said. Just more hassle than it's worth for me. I just uninstalled after half a day it was that annoying.
