AwoX Smart CONTROL for Android
Out of four lamps purchased only 1 worked with the app, the others either failed to connect having shown as available or worked for a few minutes before not responding. Whether this is hardware failure or a software issue is irrelevant the product and app fail to work reliably together. Awaiting a response from technical support
It doesn't work 95% of the time. Light bulbs just stop responding.
I don't understand all the people complaining about this. It's a great app so far, no connectivity issues and the privacy issues were corrected so it's a 5 star for me. Really love it. I'm actually using the light for a home cockpit and it has proven to be really useful.
No confirmation emails sent during account setup. Tried three different email accounts. I cannot use the app without setting up an account. Regret buying.
It looks like many of the privacy related issues have been fixed in the new version. The App doesn't ask for access to your files, phone calls, SMS and other completely unnecessary things anymore. You still have to create a cloud account - but seems to be just so that different users in the household can share the same setup (it doesn't ask for lots of personal details - effectively it is just the email address that you need) - and it still asks for access to your location but apparently just to help locate the light bulb (the app says it is not using it for any other purpose). The app looks pretty good to me so far. Changing the bulb's colour and brightness was easy. As well as presets, you can save your own custom colours. That's everything I want from the app but there are also other features like setting a sequence of colours. All good for me so far.
Cannot even connect my bulb to the app. Like it will not detect it at all! Not happy.
Terrible. Keeps saying out of range, no decent instructions. Will only sync with one phone. Very disappointed.
Why should i need to on my location for what reason? And please make a widget with on and off. Thank you.
AVG flag this application as a threat. I can see why, it is too intrusive. I regret buying this bulb and now understand why it was so heavily discounted. Avoid.
Can not use without creating an account? It is a Bluetooth light bulb... I don't have email, now what? Follow up. I only have internet at work or at library. Now what?
I made my AromaLight bulb work on my Android phone for just about half an hour then I played with the alarm parameters and it refuses to connect again ''connection aborted''. And yes I tried to turn Bluetooth off then on, force manual connection, delete the device then re-add it, even reinstalled the app and restarted the phone. Also under the data protection act you are only authorised to collect data that are relevant to your application I fail to see how an email address is necessary to light a bulb.
Let me ask again here - smartplug question 1) how to get the proximity feature work as described? 2) what's the password when Bluetooth pairing?
You can't use the app without making an account. Ridiculous
I should not need to make an "account" with my email and password to use a light switch!!
Since last update : Simply don't work. My light is never in range ! Great. I want my money back.
The auto-on and off resets every 1 or 2 days.
10.11.2016 - thanks for fixing it ! NO GO (latest update) - you cannot force your customers to create a cloud account, give access to location, contacts, media files, SMS and allow phone calls ... for turning on a bluetooth lamp ... (1) Existing customers are pissed off for a good reason - luckily, the lamps work as normal LED lamps as well (2) New Customers : expect 90-100% return rate as this is not serious Please fix this AWOX ! 10.11.2016 - thanks for fixing it !
Account creation must not be mandatory for a light bulp
Mandatory cloud account
They think they are Microsoft & Apple forcing you into an account you don't want or need. I have too many passwords to remember, I'm not going to have another one for a stupid light that is barely useful as it is.
My awox smart plugs are going to the recycling bin now that you need a cloud connection to use the App. That' was a completely stupid design decision. All that cloud powered IoT crap means that you don't own your devices anymore. The cloud is just someone else's computer and the IoT things are just someone else's things.
Was very nice, until this latest update. Its requires the user to turn their location on & make an account. Even with that done, mine always says "out of range". Sad considering its less than 10 ft away.
After getting the Bluetooth light bulbs to connect, which is hard enough, the light bulbs will stop accepting commands after changing a few parameters. Also, after the light bulbs stop accepting parameters, I have to exit and reopen the app multiple times to get them to connect. Sometimes I even have to manually turn the light bulbs off and then back on to get them to connect again. Also, why does this app require location to operate?
I shouldn't need an account to turn on my light... You have lost any of my future business with this.
This is ridiculous! Been trying for 15 min to turn off the light and it says not in range 2 feet away. This is more hassle then it's worth. Bulb-**** app-*
Requires an online account for a local bluetooth device? No thanks. Uninstalling and returning the devices to the store tomorrow.
Worked well when first purchased. Latest update makes no sense. What does a mandatory account have to do with Bluetooth accessibility of a device in your own home. After update couldn't connect at all. Had to flip the switch to get it on, and when reinstalled didn't want the app too have so much access to phone. So now it's uninstalled and going back to CFL's until they fix it, If they do.
I purchased this to stand alone, it worked great for over a year. The mandatory update doesn't work for me. Sometimes it won't connect! having to wait to turn my light on or off is a huge pain in the ass!!! Please change this back!! This is horrible! Change back for 5 stars, was one of my favorite things, now it is practically worthless
"Creation of your Cloud account is now mandatory" : that says all. You cannot control any more a bluetooth light bulb locally without creating an online account and sharing some data. This used to be a fine product. Because of this I will dump all the lights I have purchased and look for another provider that let me use a local bluetooth network without internet connection. Avoid this product if you don't want to create an online account to use it.
I just purchased the Bluetooth connected light for my son, installed the app, created the account & I can't login to do anything as the app crashes as soon as I open it. Very expensive light to have the app not work to be able to control it. Very disappointing
Besides forcing people to create an account being plain stupid, now it plain and simply doesn't work with my lightbulb... I have been trying to find a previous version but it has resulted in nothing... So all in all, I am left with a broken product, all due to a stupid update... We consumers are at the mercy of the developers, truly... A broken experience is certainly not what I paid for... Edited to add: also, the app suddenly asks you for too many permissions, without which it supposedly cannot work...
The last version doesn't work and that mandatory account is stupid. i'm going back to the previous version until you fix it.
Worked...didn't work...create an account for a light bulb? What kind of nonsense is that?
Why require an account for using your products over Bluetooth? Uninstalled and replaced with conventional bulbs.
Definitely not getting the latest update that forces having an account. Very bad policy to have. If there's some new product that requires logging in (for whatever reason), make people who have the new product log in.
New version (5.0.0) forces you to enable location services to detect the bulbs, and it won't work if you deny permissions that shouldn't be required (contacts, phone, microphone, sms). Reverted back to 4.4.0 since everything worked fine.
Please don't make me create an account and log into the app just to use my light.
Will Need an account to switch on and off a simple light... really ? Best way ever to lose customers.
Il marche une fois sur vingt avec HTC One, pas du tout avec Nexus 7

Apparently this app has little respect for privacy. The app requests permissions it doesn't need, and then makes you provide an email address. This is for a sync feature, but is wholly unnecessary and should be skippable. The app is bloated for a simple Bluetooth lamp controller.
