Avi-on for Android
I cannot get this app to work at all with a GE smart dimmer. I use a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. I have rebooted the phone, and all I get is when I start the app is it tries to connect then says it cannot find my network right now. It also says something about my location services need to be turned on. My location services are turned on, and I have given the app permission to access them . My Bluetooth is also turned on. And yes, the blue light on the dimmer is blinking, indicating it is not claimed yet. I have rebooted the phone. I see no way to add any devices since it fails trying to find my network whatever that means. This app is a total piece of junk. This is not a good introduction to the Avi-on ecosystem. I will certainly not invest any more money in it Unless this app is fixed, it will ultimately fail.
Terrible app! Froze up on the first try to update it, had no luck getting it to work no matter what I tried- restart, uninstall, whatever. The manual said to call tech support and not to bring it back to the store... yeah, not gonna happen. It's a bluetooth app for an outlet timer, should work right out of the box with minimal effort... anything short of that is a UX fail.
This product and application works, but you have to ignore the instruction manual. The manual that comes with the product is completely inaccurate. Firstly, the manual states that you don't need to hook up the neutral wires to the light switch. That's wrong. You need to hook up the neutral wires to the light switch. Also, you need to clear the programming that comes with the switch. Essentially, you have to reset it. To do that, press and hold down the power off button for at least 30 seconds until the blue LED light at the bottom of the light switch starts to blink. Once you do that, the switch will be able to be connected to your Bluetooth device using the avi on app. zero stars for the instruction manual, but five stars for the product and the application.
I can't even get to the point where I can add devices. The app locks up trying to connect to a network I haven't even set up yet. No way to setup a network. This app, and its Associated Hardware, isn't worth your time. Try Philips Hue or Samsung SmartThings instead. At least they support their products
Yea this thing literally doesn't work. These reviews are pretty accurate. But GE could care less obviously this product has been out for quite a while and they haven't fixed it. Thanks GE
I must agree with most other reviews that this is not a great product. When it works it works fine. However, it rarely works. The most recent problem the app has on my phone is saying that locations services are off when they are in fact turned on and every other app on my phone is fine using the location services. I would highly recommend another product.
Just hooked it up... A Breeze. I had read some of the reviews here, made me a lil discouraged. I went ahead with it anyway. Sooooo much better than the first switch I bought, EVO. Couldnt make that one work at all. Went thru the instructions and video twice. Ended up throwing it in the trash. This one makes me Smile. ???? Turns on/off just like it should. Mine is a bluetooth plug, not wired.
I purchased 4 of the units for use with Christmas tree lights and security lights. They were difficult to initially setup but once in place they are working fine. There are a few glitches such as they will sometimes change times, sometimes the app shows on or off but the unit are just the opposite. Overall they are serving their intended purposes. I had great tech support during the bumpy setup period. A 4 are still in use. Willie R. Willie
Horrible app!! Bought 2 HE Smart Switch and app will not connect. It connected fine the first time I tried it and now tells me it cannot find the network, my phone model requires location services to be turned on. I also get this message on my tablet. Location is turned on! If it was not, why did it connect the first time I tried it. I have tried everything. POS!!
This app has possibilities. That being said, the entire way they have gone about putting directions on how to use it stinks. Nothing makes sense. There is no logical progression. I am going to return the appliances to the store I bought them from because of this. No paperwork explaining anything came with the switches. The support section online is a mess. They need to clean it up before stating "how wonderful it all is." NOT. I really would prefer not to even give it star. It doesn't deserve that.
I wanted to edit my times and delete old ones nope not happening. So I deleted and pre-installed now i get I need to turn my location on for it to work. My location is for sure on.
I cannot get this app to work. After I start it, it gets stuck on a connecting screen that never goes away, and never lets me interact with the app at all. This app, and its Associated Hardware, is a total waste of your time and money. Don't bother
Omg the frustration. Out of the box it never connected. Just like all other reviewers don't waste your time at this product don't buy it the app will drive you crazy
Absolutely horrible. Should be simple. Plug in the lamp, turn It on and off...fine. However, it says I need to update...doesnt work, can't connect. Reset the device...still doesn't work. Uninstall and reinstall...same issues. Reset the phone...same issues. Absolute garbage and going back immediately.
Pathetically unreliable app. Hardware is pretty good once you get it updated which is very challenging. App rarely works so these are expensive mechanical switches most of the time. Upgrade to Pro version? Uh no. Not throwing more money at it. Update: I sent a question about trouble shooting to the Avi-On website. I got a VERY quick response on a Saturday night from their support line and in minutes had the problem resolved. We'll see how long it lasts, but was promised a software update to resolve connection issues is coming. I suggest anyone with connection problems reach out to them directly before you struggle too much. It helped me. Up from 1 to 3 stars for support!
The app doesn't connect to anything. It perpetually is "connecting"... Paid good money for the product. Please fix the failure in the app..

I dont need to REGISTER or Login in to use my bluetooth ear piece. Why do you need my e-mail? I will return this to store.
Same issues as everyone else. Used every tip offered in troubleshooting menu to no avail. Connects sporadically, but refuses to advance beyond step 2 of 4 to update the firmware. Rebooting phone and resetting device have no effect. Can't believe GE is willing to put their name on this product. Returning item for refund.
Used to work.... now it does not work and others have commented they are not receiving assistance.
What a terrible app... It won't update the current time on the device so it will not turn on and off when expected.
Can't update firmware, after initial connect, won't "connect to my network." I hope there is a nother app I can use for my GE smart outlets because otherwise the are trash
Bad product. Terrible app. Switch failed firmware update and has never worked since.

I had an issue during setup firmware updte. The Avi-on support was great and all is well.
After update this does not work. It used to work great but now it will not run my schedule.

I have owned this and have been frustrated for several years now. Each update seems to break it further. The current update of the app now gives the error on several phones I have tried. "your phone model requires location services to be turned on to use avi-on bluetooth devices" Bluetooth is on, Wifi is on, location services/permissions are on. This is a simple device and should work. I remember when I first purchased the device I did not even have to log into an account, you just downloaded the app, connected via bluetooth and it worked. Go back to that please.
A SCAM DOESNT WORK . NO SUPPORT. PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. SAVE YOURSELF HOURS OF FRUSTRATION. I "updated" the app and now it won't connect to my device at all. Attempted several phone and device restarts. Nothing works. The Help section just blames my phone connect. Ugh.
Stuck at connecting and location services must be on. Location is on. Android Samsung galaxy note 5. Why publish garbage software?
After firmware update I can no longer connect to the light switch. I have tried to reset switch, reinstall app, reset switch by disconnexting power, everything..still does not connect after login..

Love it. I now have two lamps on Avi-on timers. Far better than free old mechanical timers. For security reasons, I like that these use Bluetooth only, and are not WiFi IOT devices. I wish that each device had a few more schedule slots. My only complaint would be the time it takes to connect to devices when I open the app, but that could just be a Bluetooth thing.
Don't waste your time and money! I submitted a ticket as they suggested and haven't heard back. Not only does the product not work but they don't seem to care about customer service either.
Have successfully been using the app with five of your devices and been please. Now you have updated your app and I started to update one device and it locked up at 54%. Now the app will not connect anymore and devices don't work at all anymore. They won't even stay on manually. We have three rooms with light switches that we can't even turn on manually anymore. And don't tell me to get a ticket. There are too many other people having the same problem. It's your new update for the app that's the problem. Fix it. Ok. A new update (10/16/2017). I submitted a support ticket almost two months ago and still haven't received an answer. So this app update is useless and support for it is also non existent. I guess they don't care. Any new buyers beware!!!!! A new update, 10/27/2017 and still doesn't work!! A new useless update here in November. Still can't login to my account. And still haven't heard anything from my submitted support ticket.
Atrocious waste of time. Installation fine at first, seemed okay, light worked...and then i adjusted the schedule...After that it stopped working, with no indication why. "Learn the Avi on difference" says the website. Just sales stuff with no help for installation problems. You have shop, avi on pro, manufacturers and about us - no help, or support. Scroll down for other unsupported devices and "happy customers" then eventually Support. But it is ueless! "Device no longer functions" fits my description but I'm told this is rare and due to brown outs. Then a number of other options not explained properly. Orange exclamation mark on your device schedule? Red exclamation mark? No explanation... NO, this is a badly thought out website for a badly thought out device, cheaply made and only returnable to the manufacturere of course...

Worked fine a few years ago when I originally set it up, bought a timer for our Christmas tree. Like that it stored my timer settings so all I had to do was plug it in this year. However, I wanted to update the schedule and now the app won't work. It consistently says "can't connect to network" and won't give me access to my device. App pushes me to upgrade to premium....but why would I spend extra money on it when it won't work now?
