Ο Δημήτριος Βικέλας (Ερμούπολη Σύρου 15 Φεβρουαρίου 1835 - Αθήνα 7 Ιουλίου 1908) ήταν Έλληνας λόγιος, ποιητής και πεζογράφος. Ως λογοτέχνης μνημονεύεται για το μυθιστόρημά του "Λουκής Λάρας", (1879), έργο πολύ σημαντικό για την εξέλιξη της νεοελληνικής πεζογραφίας. Είναι επίσης γνωστός για τη συμμετοχή του στην επιτροπή διοργάνωσης των Ολυμπιακών Αγώνων της Αθήνας το 1896. Μάλιστα, ήταν και ο πρώτος πρόεδρος της ΔΟΕ....
