Automatic Classic for Android
It used to pair immediately without issues, but now it just sits there timing out. Also, if you remove the default vehicle from the web portal the app can't switch to the other vehicle as the default; it keeps telling me to setup again without giving me the option to use the other vehicle already in the system. And don't even get me started on the inability to change password from the website - you have to use a link to reset it.
I bought the original classic (silver) and now it is not supported. I specifically bought it for the 3g feature, and would promote the product to everyone. Then they come up with the pro (gold) and take away feature from the classic one (like the 3g). Now I'm stuck with an expensive check engine code reader. I wish the company stands by their first customers and return the 3g. Its only right for the price and advertisement that was promoted. I understand a company making new version and updates, but not at the cost of its original products and customers. Integrity goes a long way. Wish the company much success, but truely hope they address this big diservice.
Great item but they need to send users the new one now that the old one isnt supported. It's a rip-off that we have to pay for the new one. Fix this Automatic Labs.
Love the device and it does what it says however they keep replacing the model and expect us to pay more. I already have two and now they are removing support for these. I wish they provided buy back or some kid of exchange offer
Update***: lack of support if nougat. No updates. Stopped tracking trips. Worthless product. Major regret in buying this Old review*** leaves out tons of possible data. I have a cradle that I use when using gps navigation. Why cant automatic display instantaneous mpg like many cars do. Risk mitigating is not an acceptable excuse, as cars already have this feature
Was crashing my Nexus 5x now it refuses to connect the device I had 1st gen. "Connected reffused" error. Fed up with it messing g up my day.
Worst waste of money ever.. Says hard brakes all the time even when not using them by stopping using gravity on a hill... Stupid nag waste dont buy.
MPG way off, roughly 50 percent. Also, wrong addresses logged, in fact the same exact spot is logged as several different addresses near the actual address (within a mile), but not the right address.
Poor support for older hardware versions. Misses many trips and requires re-pairing. I don't use it anymore and just keep it around as a check engine code reader. Company needs a better legacy hardware strategy, but I'm sure they are following the money.
This app has given me nothing but problems since day one. I could even install it for 2 weeks. Kept trying and finally. I do not leave my phones blue tooth on or location services on when I'm not driving. It's really frustrating that this app keeps turning my blue tooth on, when I turn it off. I don't want to see the app on top of my screen when I'm not driving for 90 days. Fix this or I will be removing the device.
Solid little device. It turns almost all dumb cars into smart devices with location tracking, crash alerts, check engine light diagnostics (saved me $100 once), etc. It's not an essential device, but it's a lot of fun.
Came with the used car I bought and I tried using it, but it would get stuck at verifying the pin.
App has been disabled by manufacturer. I need to sit down and try to read the data in the app and what it is sending. It will not login, or create a new account.
Stopped reporting, reconnecting does not help.
I have a constant "Currently Driving" notification even when not in the car.
Annoying, and has stopped working
Doesn't work with license +
It's bs , they don't surpport this app
Works with our 2007 Honda civic hybrid
Unstable
Purchased original device, worked OK for a year. Second year started missing random trips. On a third year became completely useless - last time had trip tracked 2 months ago. I drive every day. Was told to purchase new device as old one no longer supported. Not wasting my money for 1 year.
Doesn't calculate stops and acceleration correctly. Several times I come to a slow rolling stop and it will ding me. My wife has an SUV, she gets dinged all the time when she accelerates from a stop. Ive tried it myself and if you pull out like it calculates you will cause accidents. Furthermore I run more yellow lights now instead of stopping because this app will ding me for stopping too short. I had two emergency stops and it didn't ding me at all. "Needs to be adjusted". When I get done with my 90 day trial with my insurance company I will throw this device out my window.
This company keeps updating thier adapters, then dropping support for the older ones, even after promising features for years and not delivering. Don't support them. There are plenty of other similar products that treat their customers better.
I have been using the original Automatic device in since 2015 in my car. When I first set the device up it took a while for the firmware to be updated, but it was a pretty smooth process. I like being able to see details about my driving habits and how much fuel I'm using. My only gripe is losing percentage points for driving 70 mph as that is the speed limit on a few highways in my area. The UI of the app is pretty terrible, and I wish they would update it to look like the app for the new devices. It seems like Automatic kind of forgot about their early supporters with that.
I use it to upload to expense reporting for business travel (I drive for this a lot... And they want every start and stop with distance and location), and getting obd codes. The app is useless otherwise. I turned off all the audio prompting I could and ignore what I can't. The makers have tried to impose their view of driving on you with no concern for what you want. If somebody builds a replacement all that actually tried to service customers instead of push an agenda, I would pay a few bucks to get their piece of crap app of my phone. Good device, crap app.
Collects a lot of data but just sits on top of it--none of it useful for the user.
The app has been really good so far and I have had it for about six months. I wish it was better at diagnostic codes. It will pick up the bigger ones but I do most of my own mechanic work and have to go find my manual code reader to pick up hidden codes. Overall very handy.
It only connects about 50% of the time to my phone, so the data is so random that it is not useful.
Terrible customer support system for devices that dont work.
Who decided to name this product after a common term that makes it invisible to Google searches? What is this, 1974?
App makes be revalidate sim every time I start my phone. Fix that and it'll be better
IFTTT support is greatly appreciated.
Got this as a deal to lower car insurance, however it tells me I had hard braking in normal stops. Considering the input will affect my rates I'm pretty disappointed. Also the constant connection via Bluetooth regardless of car being on is annoying and a power drain on phone.
Idk if it's good for a bmw. I got a message when pairing it to my bmw and it said that fuel would be disabled bcuz it doesn't support bmw. Also I've had error codes but Automatic doesn't see them but other obd2 devices will them. Maybe it only displays major problems.
I have had 2 phones a moto x and moto z. Both were difficult to pair. With the moto z I had to repair after replacing phone. Now it won't pair at all. Interferes with OnStar diagnostics, give very little info in app. Not worth it. Junk.
This app doesn't work well. It connects when if feels like it. There are not a lot of options or changes that u can do. Not worth getting
Insists on telling me where my truck is parked, always...I can see it from my window, I know where it is! Also complains when I break 70, which is necessary for my own safety on some highways I need to use frequently. And nails me for hard acceleration when I try to reach the speed of traffic on said highways.
The adapter will no longer connect to software rendering the thing completely useless. Support says to wait for a firmware update for iOS... I'm on Android. This was also 6 months ago and support offers me zero help since. Worthless after just over a year ($99/year is ridiculous) - save your money for a better product from a company that will stand behind it.
Everything is working fine. It's been a long time since I've had any issues with the app or unit itself. I recommended this device to coworkers, friends, and family. Everyone in my circle loves it.

It's absolutely ridiculous that the support for the first gen has expired and now want users to pony up more for the next gen model. This tracker misses more and more trips now and is forcing users to upgrade. I only bought it one year ago and it's disheartening to see why they made this move. From the looks of it the new device adds only LTE and the rest of the hardware is pretty much the same.
