AutoDash by Automatic for Android
I can't find a good purpose for this app. I tried to for a couple months, but it became more annoying than anything. Not very intuitive to set up. The Pandora widget doesn't work with it. After reading some comments... Apparently the developer quit replying to comments over a year ago.
Easy to setup with my favorite driving apps. But it needs a help/instructions function. I don't know how to remove a widget from the home screen!
Good app
Nice idea but the gray background is ugly and the real time map not that useful
I find this app super helpful when I'm driving!
When I choose to use it, I like it. I don't need nor want it for each and every trip. It can be annoying when it opens every time I start my vehicle. That is why only 4 stars.
The Automatic adapter tracks my mileage great.... It's exactly what I need but when it comes to marketing these extra features they need to quit because it doesn't do it well, at least on android. My thought is this app is something they threw together because android users were upset that they are left out because the focus is on iOS... I wish they would just allow the adapter to talk as a standard OBD2 ELM adapter so we could use great apps that already work.
It's kinda cool, but it is really annoying if you use mapping because the base app keeps popping up all by itself, and I have to keep opening it. I'm getting rid of it.
Conceptually its great. Needs some work though. It hangs on shutdown giving me a black screen. Nothing helps except a restart of my phone. I'd guess this happens close to 20 or 25% of the time.
I think you guys have a memory leak somewhere. Launching this app slows my device to a snail's pace.
Doesn't really do anything that other apps already do. Move along, there's nothing special here.
Does not work. Just brings up home screen.
I installed the app because I have the automatic adapter and thought I would try it out. It just doesn't do enough yet to make it truly useful and there are quirks that make it really frustrating. One is the fact that it doesn't auto-rotate to landscape. That is how my car dock is setup and how I prefer to have my phone. Seems like a no-brainer to have but apparently not. Having more than one page of widgets might help too. It quickly fills up the way it currently is setup.
I love the home screen alternative that places a map in the top half and selected apps buttons in the bottom half. I populated the bottom half with buttons for apps I sometimes reference while driving (maps waze) or when I stop briefly (music, podcast, starbucks, pay). I wish it had a dark theme for night driving when I tend to flip to full screen map just to end the distraction). I like the screen unlocked while I'm driving, but find that the unlock often persists after I've held my finger over the bubble to close the app, and I have to open another app just to reinitiate the lock. Maybe there's something about closing the app I'm missing. I've stuck with this driving helper longer than any other I've tried so far. No need for lots of additional features for me; just would like to have the basic issues I mentioned above handled.
Left installed for months hoping it would get better. It didn't. Google Maps with no option for anything else. No option to launch automatically when connected via Bluetooth to your car stereo. I'm not buying an 'Automatic' OBD 2 dongle, my car has its own diagnostics system. Has a bright white screen while you're driving instead of something friendly for night time or any theme options. Uninstalled.
Good stuuf
Edit 5/7/16: switched to 'Automate', a much better app. I will come back to try AutoDash in the future to see if improved. Original review: Been looking for a simple car home app for a long time, and I just found this and it might foot the bill. Here is my wishlist: 1) dark theme option; 2) more persistent bubble; 3) big buttons for app shortcut. Looking forward to the updates!

Slow, buggy and unreliable.
Couldn't even get to the point where I could use the app. It would lock up my nexus 6 just trying to add apps to its home screen. Never even got to take it for a drive.
Had high hopes for it but so far disappointed. Stuck with Google Maps for some reason, and for some stupid reason doesn't support launching when connected via Bluetooth to your car stereo. I'm not buying an 'Automatic', my car has its own diagnostics system. Also seems to be following the trend of having a bright white screen while you're driving instead of something friendly for night time.
I like the app alright and think it has potential. Since it's a new app it should definitely grow quickly to be what it should. When the map is hidden the top bar is impossible to manipulate since when I tap on it the title/options menu comes up. Also there should be either a nighttime mode or (preferably) a way to change the gray background since it is overly bright and extremely distracting at night. Also the upcoming calendar notification should go away automatically after a set time...

I tried to create an account and it just says error. when navigation opens, I want Waze to open not google maps.

Good concept, but needs a lot of work. App should not turn the phone on when it's off. I don't need it to open for every trip I take. When I try to close it it freezes and I need to reboot my phone. Happened three times yesterday. Will be uninstalled until fixes can be made.
Good idea, but with how long it takes for the system to detect ignition paired with how it took over the screen 6+ times during my 30 minute drive to work this morning... it's not usable. Sending screenshot to devs because the last time it took over my screen the bottom half was black.

Great concept. My car's engine automatically turns off when it comes to a stop which deactivates the app. Update: Thanks for the response, the vehicles Bluetooth stays activated during the auto engine off state and may be a way of keeping the app running.
Works well
Love the idea but could even create an account. When I tried all it said was unknown error (not helpfull) I tried multiple email and password combinations but still no luck
Seems to work alright, but could use the ability to change the default messaging app, i dont use the phones inbuilt sms, as well as make some messaging contact defaults, can't scroll through an endless list while trying to send the eta...
Doesn't have a landscape mode and is kinda ugly
Live this, but really. Why no landscape mode? Thanks! Looking forward to 1.1!
I'm using an unmodified At&t Nexus 6 (5.1.1) and the app frequently freaks out. It insists on popping up while I'm driving, even when I'm navigating with Google maps. This is very inconvenient and even dangerous because I am forced to manually switch back to the Maps app to see where I'm going while driving. The Automatic app also crashed one time with this app running. The widget interface also needs some work. It's hard to rearrange them, especially when all of the rows are filled.
Very promising idea. Still a little clunky though. It takes a couple minutes for the app to pop up when the car is turned on, and at least today, wouldn't load the map in the app, So I had to just open the Google maps app anyways. But I'm excited for where this is going
Works great with MotoX!

I like the idea, but I use Waze and not Google Maps on a daily basis. I would love to be able to choose which navigation app is the default in the app.

Pros: Use it to auto launch Waze to start my drive - works great. Cons: App itself doesn't auto-rotate. Also, wish I could select which device triggers it activating. Not helpful when the car I'm not driving triggers the app to start.
