App works fine and grate app for me. The final output is also grate. But it needs to improve UI of app. App's UI not attractive.
Devs: Please update Camera API or pass correct argument on old API. Google "Nexus 5X inverted camera" to get official Google comment
Unusable on Nexus 5X due to reversed camera issue. Google has confirmed that this is a problem with apps, not with the camera.
Most scans get stuck at the "thinking some more" stage with no way to restart.
On my Nexus 5X the camera image is upside down. It seems like this has been an issue for months...
I think that maybe a key constraint could be, that all the photos should be equidistant from the subject? As in, to follow the guide widget.
Doesn't work! I took a load of photo's, signed into my autodesk account and have been watching the "Photonic Transmitter" not progress ever since. Have restarted the app and device. Don't waste your time downloading this, its rubbish and doesn't work.
Stuck on "processing" for 24 hours. Eventually gave up and moved onto another 3d scanning app.
Constant blurry pictures, orientation doesn't work barely at all even with a steady hand and following instructions
Slow constantly processing photos 2 days in and still processing stay clear heart breaker aragh can't delete as its still processing
Each time I try to upload photos, it takes over an hour to process (even with glazing fast wifi and regular cell connection) and then ultimately fails and apologies. Then it offers to save the photos to the camera roll, and freezes again. One time it told me to log out and then log back in. Really? I tried that and it didn't help. For such a huge company that prides itself on good quality software, I'm shocked and disappointed and how terrible this app is.
When trying to use on a nexus 5 X images appear upside down rendering the application difficult to use
Tried a half dozen different times to create a model, never got anything remotely useful and gave up.
I've been in thinking some more mode for weeks.
Started it and it was very sluggish. Using Sony Xperia z5 premium. Tapped done after tutorial and it crashed. Restarted it and it failed to load anything. Every page was just white. Tried to capture something. Flipped through the tutorial and it locked my phone so badly I had to push the reset button as power button didn't work. Thanks autodesk. It used to work semi OK on my old device.
Interesting app, was working fine a few weeks ago but now I cant sign in using any "Social Providers" ive even registered a new account and that fails after clicking continue on acceptance of agreement to term and conditions.
This app is amazing, problems from upside down camera are irrelevant because the photogrammetry done on Autodesk's servers doesn't use orientation information, it finds it on its own. Reading through the various comments it looks like people just don't understand how amazing this free (but not as in freedom) software is.
Looks awesome, but only produced a partial (one 'side') final rendering in spite of capture from all sides. Used the maximum number of photo captures (70). Doesn't seem to be possible to export reference images that were captured.
I've lost so many models because the app would crash or I looked away and the screen turned off. Because of this the models would stay in processing hell and "continue to process".I've very disappointed
Great little app. Works like it should. The only thing that is bad beyond comprehension is that it takes ages to upload photos. It took me more than 8 hours to upload and process my model out of 23 photos. Other than this, this is great app.
This app has been thinking some more for 3 days. Here I thought I had found a solution to 3d scanning. Didn't work. I love the idea, but it's not doing anything. I tried the PC version, same thing. Can't connect to their server.gets to 97% then nothing. Too bad.
Nexus devices require the use of modern APIs that correct the camera orientation for the phones hardware configuration. This app doesn't use the modern APIs. It uses the deprecated API making it impossible to use on a nexus 5x...
I capured a very fluffy stuffed kitty with this, and it was great! Make sure you read all the tutorials, a bad mesh output is all user error (except maybe the Nexus 5 issue). The app needs help in error reporting and synching. Getting stuck on "thinking some more" with "error, tap to retry" sucks.. No idea what is wrong, so I can't fix my images, and logging out and back in doesn't fix it. The objects processing in the app also don't show up on the web interface until they are complete.
Please update API for proper image capture on nexus 5x. Also installed this on Samsung s4 and processing kept failing 6x. This happened on 2 sets of images. One with the full set, another with 8 images.
On the Nexus 5X the camera preview is flipped upside down. Maybe the deprecated camera API is still being used. 5 stars if this is fixed.
This is a great idea but the app simply doesn't work. I had 2 scans work last year, now everything hangs with "photonic transmitter on". I can't find a way to even get the pics back so I can do something with them manually.
This technology is great. Would be good if it could rip frames from video as well as photos. The user could then pan over the article and record a video. The software could record at several frames a second which would make for better quality coverage than multiple photos although the texture quality would be lower, depending on the hardware. But at least the user could decide which method to use. Video frame grabbing is my preferred method for me.
The in all camera orientation is quite bad, in fact it's awful. It cannot detect movement and the system uses to detect orientation cannot tell from its ups and downs. This caused a lot of images to be at the East side when it was actually taken on the West side and vise versa. Plus you need to implement a method to "crop" the model to erase excess background renderings.
This used to be really neat, but it's been quite a while since I got a good result with it. Processing has been taking longer and longer, and it seems my captures are failing more often than they used to, and the ones that don't fail are less complete. I recently had a capture simply get stuck, in the "Thinking Some More" stage. Finally had to clear the app data to get rid of it.
Same issue as guys below. Old API for camera makes this unusable on Nexus 5X. Please update. Pretty please.
Cool idea. It looks like it has worked for some people. For me, it gets stuck in processing, and nothing ever worked. I have a galaxy s4.
Don't listen to the idiots complaining about orientation this app doesn't really make a difference whether or not the orientation is correct. They are obviously going to fix it if its an issue.
The time to tell me there's a 69 image limit is when I've taken 69 pictures, not when I've taken 200. Plus, this is a web service masquerading as an app - it doesn't work offline and has to upload all your images for processing on the server. Uninstalled.
Strangly the in app camera captures everything upside down on my phone?? App is unusable. And you have to register.
Outdated. No updates since 2015 and lack of support for Nexus 5X
The capture process could be a lot faster. Camera app is slow. Could be a bit more automated, like Google photo sphere for example
I work in 3d measurement and the hardware and software to create an accurate 3d model runs into the tens of thousands at least. What you can do with this using your phone is truly amazing. Am I going to be throwing my laser scanner away, of course not, but come on this is using a camera phone! And I only use an LG G2.
Multiple problems with online hosting. It's just not working to many times. Just try sketchfab and you will see how things can be perfect.
Looks like a neat app, but the camera orientation is completely messed up on my Nexus 5X, so the app is unusable for me. I'll update my review once the camera is fixed.
