Doesn't work with android just stay away. Using the Pixel I get a 20% success rate of connecting to the lock via Bluetooth. Now I just end up using the wifi to unlock. 25 seconds to do it. Ridiculous, reverting back to keys. Also support is terrible like everyone says and android wear app is non existent. If you want reliability use an iPhone....

A garbage product from garbage people. Is this a sick joke with this auto unlock feature? How many updates do you need to push to fix this? Its a joke. This can't be that hard to figure out. The product should never have been released to market. I am looking into class action lawsuit options. I hope you guys go bankrupt.

Don't even bother. If you've bought an August smart lock to work with your Android device, return it; you'll experience nothing but frustration and a company disinterested in providing a solution. Auto unlock just plain does not work with Android, works fine with iPhone though. I've fought with August for several months now and get nothing more than vague platitudes and worthless promises.

DO NOT BUY AUGUST PRODUCTS THEY ARE GARBAGE. App does not auto-lock, Bluetooth connectivity is miss and miss, app will not let me reset my password. I am extremely disappointed with performance of this "high end smart lock". Would not recommend. I don't know how, but this POS lock has gotten worse...

I'm starting to think that someone from inside is trying to sabotage the August Smart lock because it used to work at on time. Maybe one of the devs works secretly for a big tech company or something. Update... All of a sudden auto unlock is working again; very weird

Auto unlock has never, ever worked, and it takes foreverrrrr to connect. I have the wifi adapter, so that should be default, but I can't set that to default either. AND the Google actions integration is terrible. It just keeps saying it hasn't been able to get more up to date information until after like 10 times, it finally works.

have galaxy note 5 hit or miss with remote viewing camera on doorbell, app wont connect with lock or doorbell more than not. please fix!! we paid alot of money for your products id like to use them without problems

Doesn't work worth a damn. It would literally be faster and more reliable if I taught my dog how to unlock the door when he heard my car pull in the drive. What a joke this is. "Auto Unlock" more like "Ought to Unlock".

Lock won't auto close at random, leaving doors open occasionally. Despite all promises, the app is just unable to communicate with the lock 15 feet away from the closed door. Functioning geofence requires a separate, additional purchase. Upgrading firmware is flaky, fails more often than works, because it takes substantial amount of time and requires app to be working in foreground and the screen has to be on. Finally, August doesn't do anything about complains. Generally this is part of an expensive gamble that your door will be closed behind you, because other functionality simply doesn't work.

When it works, it's like magic. I've even had it work for weeks in a row with no problems. But today the app started using all my battery for no reason. Also, it has a lot of trouble with SSIDs that are named the same as your house.

I really wished I would have read through these comments before purchasing the lock and connect devices. I ordered one on Amazon and the packaging was rather beat up. I was hoping this was the reason why the Bluetooth connectivity was so slow to connect (~10 seconds, might as well unlock manually at this point) and the auto unlock NEVER working. I ended up buying another August lock from Best Buy to test if it was any better and to my surprise, it was actually WORSE! On top of that you can only connect one August lock per August Connect device! Needless to say, I would not recommend this lock to anyone who has an Android device.

Garbage product. Auto unlock never works - ever. Connection from phone to lock is constantly "broken" and I need to repair everytime I try to unlock so I'm left standing outside my door for 30-60 seconds waiting for the process to finish. I only ever use my keys, now. I will be returning this ugly paper weight.

Same thing everyone else says. It'd be nice if August had the balls to own up to the issues here and provide a path to resolve them, either through software or hardware.

Hey dumbazzes, this time your update crashes after it connects to the lock to auto unlock. I tried several re-installs. I can't stress enough how bad this product is.

We struggled with auto lock for a long time. Later, it works most of the time. Now suddenly the app keep crashing and nothing works. Restalling the app only make it works for less than a day and it crashes again and require installation.

Can't configure on Moto z. Stuck in loop complaining about app can draw over screen, won't allow setting location permission

7/2/2017: horrible horrible horrible this is the shittiest product with the shittiest customer service This product should be banned. Very frustrating after spending 315 dollars all i get is a non functional application which fails to detect the lock every time i open the app no matter I'm home or at work, despite buying a stupid 75 dollars worth of additional hardware for Internet connectivity, the app fails to find the lock, its not even sending texts in real time when lock is opened. Did they even test this application at all? I'm not happy with it, after spending so much money on this product. 2/14/2017: this lock is very unreliable. It locked my roommate out today for couple of hours in the cold weather, when i came back home lock will not connect to the phone, kept on giving unauthorized errors messages. Its keyboard was not even working. Customer service is one of the the worst kind. Please hire someone who can speak English language, they want to charge 300 dollars for the lock but hire cheap untrained, non English speakers.

This app fails to create an account. It requires a phone number validation code via SMS and another one via email. It fails to actually send the email code and therefore the account set up does not complete. I spent a few hours trying different email providers and the only conclusion is advise everyone to not use it as you may end up getting locked out of your rental if don't have a real key.

Why can't apps just work? Also really sketchy the amount of permissions the app needs from your phone.

App constantly crashes during initial registration and install procedure. I could not finish the setup procedure. Lock is useless without app. Uninstalled everything. Worthless.

It's definitely become more stable, but also definitely needs more work. 4 stars since it appears they are making improvements

The crappiest app I've ever encountered. Splash screen comes up and spinner spins. Nothing happens.

I've had the lock for 3 weeks and it has not once Auto unlocked... The 1 reason I purchased it. Using Samsung Galaxy s7

It worked ok at first. Then it wouldn't connect, followed by the app kicking us out. Now we can't sign in or change our passwords.

Doesn't unlock door automatically, takes 20 seconds to connect. Terrible

This worked when we first got it and now it stopped. We can't connect. The app tried to run through a calibration and failed. Waste of money.

Won't even open on an LG V10. Uninstalling and reinstalling gets it to work once. But after that every time I open it, goes into not responding. Have submitted logs a dozen times with no response.

Account setup doesn't work

Great App...took a few times..but I think it was just the Operator

I've been using this since spring. The auto unlock worked 70% of the time until the fall when it never worked. Since the update which uses Google maps it now works every time. Very happy with it now. Update : As of spring 2017, auto unlock now only works 30% of the time. You guys really need to get this right once and for all. Update #2 after reading on August's web site I uninstalled CCleaner and auto unlock is working better. Still not perfect but much improved.

So there was a Google map update, and my auto unlock was working 60% better. Then I changed my router name and the feature stopped working. Re did the whole auto unlock set up, made sure my phone knew the new router name, and still nothing. Everything else works except the auto unlock. Hook us up guys, those Apple users have had the feature dialed in for a long time. Waiting patiently. Using S8 with Android 7.0.

Overall it performs decently. There is quite a delay if you are trying to check the status or lock/unlock over WiFi despite there being a good connection to August Connect. One main limitation is that there is no way to perform actions on the August Lock through IFTTT, it only supports triggers which makes it way less useful, especially since unlocking the door through an August Keypad doesn't even count as a trigger. Having the ability to lock/unlock the door based on events on IFTTT would make this a killer device.

I have to say, I just got my August door cam today and was excited to install it. So I followed all the directions to the T. Downloaded the mobile app to setup the door cam thru the app so i can view who is at my door. this August is horrible app and Wouldn't even let me connect to the august door cam thru the app. I followed all the troubleshooting guides august provided that was a fail. Now all I have is a fancy non working cam doorbell. I emailed august to see if there can be a resolution to this.

Gets 1 star because I can't leave 0 stars. Auto-Unlock is a complete joke. I pretty much use my keys everytime. My girlfriend who has iPhone/Apple Watch, gets a 20% success rate.

Still needs a lot of work. The potential for a great app is there but the auto unlock doesn't work unless you have the app open to the screen when you leave and return home. In addition the lock never stays connected to the app and there for have to constantly reconnect to the phone. 9 times out of 10 the reconnect doesn't work and you have to repair the connection which takes forever. Please fix these issues.

Like most every other review on here the auto-unlock is a joke even with the GPS enabled. Why not have the option to set up 'routines' thru the app so that the owner can set up specific times of the day to have the lock unlock or recipes thru the ifttt app instead of relying on location??
