Stream Magic for Android
It's quite simple - you will utterly regret it. Tried this on three different Android devices and none worked. The comments here go back TWO YEARS and clearly nothing has improved. What are the management doing? Cambridge Audio, just employ someone competent to sort it out and sack the useless idiots that are ruining your reputation.
It's a terrible app for an expensive piece of kit. I bought this product specifically for its ability to work with lan nas drive. V disappointed. Have to use remote... my four yr old smart tv can play more music than the Cambridge apps.
Frustating to get it to work. Very difficult ti connect, usually just loops and fails. I hope someone at Cambridge Audio is listening and sorts it out fast. Poor show guys
The app's flaky and the interfaces are terrible. What were they thinking? Looks like they let the software engineers design the screens...
I don't have to say anything. .they said it ALL ....don't work most of the time. Do something or hire a good software developers. You're just wasting your payroll money to them.
Purchased the V2. Have a LG G3 phone. This app will not work, always crashes. Love the V2 sound but your current applications need some serious help.
This is the worst app in the world. Cambridge you let yourselves down. Having a fabulous streamer in the np30 and having a dog's breakfast like this app. Shame shame shame
I am using with a Minx Xi. Unless the unit is in exactly the same state as when the app was last used it will crash. For example, should you browse and play from a uPnP device, then turn the unit off or use the remote to play something else, the app will crash when next used. It will then attempt to cycle back to the root menu, crashing each and every time. For this app to be associated with quality Cambridge Audio products can't be good for keeping brand loyalty. This is the same on two android devices.
I designs electronics device and I never see that poor app which is still freezes, resets. I have stream magicc 6 unit one mount and every day I try to listen music and is always problem, for example today I was tried 5 minutes to listen one song and I didn't success, after that time I move to remote control.I think that is no music streamer which you can listing by you Wi fi network or enternet cable. how cambridge audio can tell that this is music streamer- that product is not finish and software people should beat heads on desk because that app is not finish.. polish > Ta aplikacja ciągle sie zawiesza resetuje jest do dupy. ktos kto ja tworzył i nie dopracowal, nieraz 5 minut pruboje zalaczyc jeden utwor. To nie jest system 21 wieku. w skali 1 do 10 ocena jest 1
Using this with an NP-30 and Xperia Z1, and it is dreadful. App finds the NP-30 on the network, but any interaction causes the phone to drop it's Wi-Fi signal, making the whole thing useless.
Drops out constantly, then can't resume connection. Almost pointless.
The stream magic 6 is fantastic hardware use bubble upnp and disable local renderer in setting and all is fantastic Stream magic 6 fantastic hardware let down by a poor app. I do like the radio layout though! App crashes then app will not open until a reboot. Please guys sort this out asap
After your last application update, or your device firmware update (I can't tell which of them is responsible) I can no longer see the hard drive through the app. What is going on? I have the same problem as Mike Burford!
Worked OK initially but now will only do the radio and not enable access to music on the Nas. Needs fixing!
Have not tried a worser mobile app than this. Cambridge Audio's professional people, and this does not live up to that name. Hope you fix this as soon as possible. As well an update to Cambrid Stream Magic 6 with support for Spotify.
Functional crippled, extremely unstable, utterly useless, almost never find the minx xi (no devices found). Embarrassing! I seriously regret having bought cambridge audio. Stay away from it. Far away!
The Stream Magic 6 is a great bit of hardware and sounds fantastic but it's not easily controllable from the remote or front panel so the app is vital. I'm running both the IOS and Android versions and they are both truly shocking. No support for Spotify, Deezer etc, app crashing, loses network, folder display, album, song handling all very amateurish compared to, well, anything else. Really poor software writing letting down an otherwise excellent product. Despite complaining to CA for two years, no improvements seen ;-(
This App only connects to my NP30 about 1 time in 100. Fine when it works, good functionality, but that is rarely. UPDATE. Got a new router (Asus RT-N66U) and things much improved so far.(old router Virgin Superhub).UPDATE #2 connects reliably now though crashes quite often. Not a big deal as restart quite quick, just a bit irritating. Had a Nad M50 on home demo. Difference was noticable. Nad app much more reliable though functionally no better.

So utterly unstable, slow to load, and cumbersome to use, it makes it impossible to recommend what would otherwise be hardware of terrific value. Give us an API and let some pros build your apps!
Plain doesn't work. Cambridge, you need to take this seriously. This app plain sucks. It isn't my network and it sucks on two different brands of high-quality phones.
A piece of disappointing rubish software, to acompany a brilliant music streamer. I could rabbit on for pages repeating what everyone else has written. Come on Cambridge get your act together.
Stopped working completely after NP30 updated it's firmware 21st March..... Great when it works, but it hardly ever works. Have to reboot phone and/or NP30 to get connection. Fix it guys as it's embarassingly poor for such a simple app. They promised an update to this app June 2014 from a support request.....still waiting. A truly sh*t app that spoils and otherwise good product.
I bought the Stream magic V2 and intended to control it with my iPad. Couldn't do that as the iOS app would not run on my old Pad. Tried this app with my phone, but it frequently wouldn't find the Stream Magic and would never find the music stored on my NAS. The Stream magic will have to go back, which is a terrible pity as it otherwise looks a good product, but if you can't easily get at the music then its no good.
Has its quirks...sure does, and you have to know that going into it. Cambridge Audio is working out the bugs and as of late, the customer service communication has been very good. The unit is amazing and plays wonderfully and once you have entered a dozen or 2 CD's into the queue you can walk away and just enjoy hours upon hours of music. My last review was not favorable, but in recent dealings with Ed Selly of Cambridge Audio, I have a total new respect for the company and wouldn't trade my SM6 for anything! When Cambridge gets the Android app issues all up to snuff, this will be one hard product to contend with. Actually, it already is!!
What a load of rubbish!!! If I had known how bad this app was I would not have bought this product. What a shame, fantastic sound spoiled by app that crashes constantly, it is so frustrating. Does not support most popular music sites... Spotify etc Come on Cambridge, how can you knowingly sell something that so obviously is not fit for purpose. Have always been a Cambridge fan but not sure their products will be on my shopping list in the future.

It can replace the remote control. Stream Magic Lite app is better than this one

It's almost impossible to use software on nexus 7... I expected a bit higher quality for the device with price over 1.2k
But on android its absolutely dreadful? Shocking quality which lets down a fantastic HiFi component.

Only managed to connect once so far and was slow to read music library
This app is really useful when it works, but that is only about 50 percent of the time. It often does not find my Stream Magic 6 and I have to resort to the remote, but the display is so hopelessly small on the SM6 I need to go up to it to read it. All in all not impressive. I might as well get up and put a CD on!! its a shame. The SM6 is a great piece of kit but if the app is important then buy something else. I wish I had now!
I have multiple Android devices. This app is crashing frequently on every one of them.
Like most other reviews I read, this app is rubbish, if you can get it to work - it worked the first time I launched it but never again. The box itself is good but for the price you should be able to take it for granted that the software works. First and last purchase from Cambridge Audio.
Most bugs were fixed. Finaly it's even able to search artist stations in Aupeo
When it works, choosing music source and selecting tracks works seamlessly. Very slick, almost no delay at all, a real pleasure to use (and the volume rockers work too). However, usually doesn't work first time (or second or third) and often crashes. Strange, but the iPad version works every time.
Works well with my Samsung tab other than periodically losing contact with the np30 even when I am sitting next to the wifi unit. Dispite very helpful CA helpline the app refused to work with my Sumsung galaxy ace 2

I have got the app for 5 min, and it has "stop working" 10 times on my HTC One mini. Then I am buying a device with a app for 1000$, it just have to work. Please get it done quickly, if you care about your customers.
