Minx Air for Android
This app doesn't work, only managed to connect to the speaker twice on nearly 100 attempts and even then I could not complete all the preset setups as I wanted. Please fix!
The speaker sounds good but if you want to play in this market the app and user experience needs to be good......... I would not be able to recommend this product to a friend which is a shame
The only way to get the app to work is to uninstall it then download it again. Should be better than this
Now it's on the cusp of 2017 and the app is not working or VERY slow. Apparently it's been rubbish for 2 odd years. Come on Cambridge pull your your bloody finger out.
It just seems to search for devices and never finds it. Please fix this as if would be awesome could learn a lot from tune in radio
Soooo frustrating.... i cant listen to anything but Radio 4 - which is fine, but not what i bought the speakers for. Please improve this software.
Surely Cambridge Audio can afford to pay some techy to create a better app? As others have said it's intermittent, it doesn't work at all on my new android phone. It works the best with my ancient ipod touch. By the time it moves between stations or to find the wifi, I could make a cup of tea and drink it. I was convinced to choose this as an alternative to Sonos or Bose. Hmmm
Very unreliable to the point of being almost unusable. When it works I like it but so far that seems to be rare. It freezes/crashes almost every time! Which is a real shame because as everyone says the speaker is excellent. Looking forward to the fix.
Cambridge audio no longer support this app. Switch to Air even if you have a minx air 100 or 200 v1 as it is backwards compatible. The other app actually works on a really basic level.
The worst app I have ever used. Cambridge Audio should be ashamed.
I am gobsmacked that a company with such a high reputation for the quality of its products could even contemplate putting out such a piece of absolute rubbish. I have experienced all of the problems documented here by others. For goodness sake, Cambridge Audio, do something!
I was expecting more from Cambridge. Open the app an tap on the "About".
The app is crap, but just about does the job. Set it up on iPhone and now my Android TV, so i can control my Minx from my TV remote. Still, update this app you tight gits!
The app connects to the minx air only once for a few seconds, then just stupid doing anything. The radio station search just hangs and finds nothing. It never ever finds the Minx air ever again. It is completely useless, I don't know how Cambridge Audio dared to release it in this state. It makes it impossible to use the speakers properly, really out is only designed for use with Apple products. If you have Android or Windows forget it. I have tried it on three different Android devices and none work.
Just rubbish, no more needed to say other than come on Cambridge Audio you need to sort this out to compete
Wouldn't have bought my Air 100 if I'd known how dire the Minx app was. Renders it more of a pain than a pleasure to own.
Completely useless app!!!!!! Minx 100 really good stuff.
Hire some decent development to create an app that matches the quality of the speaker. This is at best a prototype..
...... awful. Let's down great hardware. Why would CA do this? Driving people to Sonos!
I've only managed to get it to connect a handful times so trying to change presets is a real pain, sometimes impossible. Terrible app for such a simple need...listen to your customers and fix the app!
Most of the time it takes multiple attempts to get it working. Very annoying.
Great kit, poor apps
Clunky at best.
App is painful.
The app is complete garbage. Hang your heads in shame Cambridge Audio. This is the first ever of your products that I've bought and your crummy hopeless app means I won't be looking at your brand next time. The app is at best basic, it doesn't do much and yet it almost never works! Just how on earth did you make such a pigs ear of it? As others have stated, the speaker is great but the app rarely works and really takes a lot away from the speaker.
You need this app to get the most from the minx air speaker, so it is disappointing that it doesn't work well. Usually when I try to connect it doesn't find the speaker, but if you then select 'change device' you can see and select the speaker. But there have been many times when I haven't been able to connect at all and I have spent a lot of time trying different ways to get the app working. There is a rumoured upgrade to the app for 2015 - let's hope for the best, as I love the speaker.
Terrible app. Regularly loses all my saved presets and also refuses to search for stations. Only works when it feels like it. A shame, because the Cambridge Audio Minx 200 is a great piece of kit. Desperately needs an update to get rid of these bugs which makes it unusable.
Seldomly finds the Air 100. Very frustrating and unreliable app. Unusable. Let's down a very good brand.
As I started to write this review randomly the app popped up and started working, shows how bad it is. Can't get it to work when I want it to! Please fix it Cambridge audio I need the app
Horrible app: does not connect on two out of three android devices in the house and the one it does connect with...a Samsung phone...the app itself is non-intuitive and slow. There is no Mac or PC version so the only possible way to use this speaker is with the presets or streaming spotify or other service through bluetooth. The telephone support from Cambridge is ok, but the device control seems to be something they are very defensive about. They should fix it or give us a firmware update that allows control from a pc.
Can't connect to the device unless I type in the IP address manually and even then it struggles immensely. Sonos never looked so tempting...
Only connects when there's an r in the month and then only when it's snowing! Please sort this connection problem.
Most of the time it just doesn't work. Very annoying.
Could be brought to the 2010s
As everyone noted, it simply is not fit for purpose. For the price you pay for this speaker you'd think they could fix it.
So poor. Takes forever to find. Speaker is top quality but app totally ruins that experience
Intermittent functionality. Rubbish.
After initially being blown away by the sound quality of my Minx Air 200, this appauling app left a rather bitter taste in my mouth. Come on Cambridge, a useable user interface with this product would be nice! £350 worth of fantastic speaker controlled by an app that continuously crashes, loses contact with the Minx, and is intermittently laggy (volume response is annoying) at the best of times! A 5* product let down by a 0* app.
I recently purchased the Air 200 player, which is awesome, however this app is terrible. All it does it start up and immediately crash, every time, I have reinstalled at least 10 times and it makes no difference. This means I am missing a large part of the functionality of this system. Given that you can get a Sonos:5 for the same price I can't help but wonder why more time was not invested in the app development.

9 times out of 10 it is just stuck looking for device. To get the most out of the $250 speaker, the app has to work. VERY disappointing.
