About ParentComms
The ParentComms app offers a free UK-based service to help parents stay connected with their children’s schools.
•All parents can access the OpenCheck service and subscribe to an information feed from their children’s school(s)
•Subscribing to OpenCheck will result in automatic notifications if a school needs to close in an emergency
•Users can easily check scheduled school closures for holidays and training days
•Schools using the AutoText service from Atomwide can save money on texting if parents and staff get messages via the app
•Users of the ParentComms:Pay+ service will receive updates on children’s dinner money accounts and notifications of new school trips
For school staff in USO-enabled schools, this app offers additional functionality.
•Staff can update the school’s opening status in an emergency via the app
•Staff can text parents directly from a late-running school trip or similar situation using this app
•School Nominated Contacts can also view their network usage graphs and access CCTV monitoring if using the Atomwide CCTV system
When you have installed the app please log in either by registering your mobile phone number or your USO user account (if you have one). This type of account ends in .uso so if you have ever used the eAdmissions online application service then you have an account already. Logging in is not essential but will help your children's schools save money.
Please be advised that the ParentComms app is designed to be used by schools to communicate with parents. If you are not receiving regular updates with regard to your selected school's open or closed status please liaise directly with the school to resolve this.

Had one message in 3 months - sent to me at 8pm telling me that my child's school was open as usual that day! I have also just completed a nursery application through my local authority website which is supposedly linked to this app and should have sent me info regarding this new application too - but suprise suprise no messages, no info, nothing. Awful app god help any parent using it to rely on contact from their child's school! If the place burnt down you'd be the last to know!

When it snows it is nearly impossible to get through to my son's school to find out if it's going to be open or not. The poor girls on reception must just field calls all morning! As a working mum I find this very frustrating as I'm trying to get myself ready for work and put alternative arrangements for my son in place so that when I finally do find out if the school is open, I'm good to go. I now get alerts from the school to tell me whether it's open or not, even for things like INSET days and half term. It's great! Long overdue proactive system to keep me informed. Thank you!!

Neat application that works well to keep me informed of school opening times including holidays also appears to understand about multiple schools in different areas. A nice trick allows the app to be silenced over night alerts I don’t care about don’t wake me up !

Great app for getting the most out of being a Nominated Contact at a London school, keeping opencheck up to date and receiving network alerts. As a parent I receive school information and save the school money by replacing text message with this app.
