Offroad/Offline Navigation App with worldwide topographic maps (mainly Russian General Staff). For many countries in Africa and Asia these maps still belong to the best available topomaps.
Available map layers:

Soviet Military Maps is the perfect moving map app for offroad trips, adventure travels and expeditions. You are planning cross country trips to Sahara desert or a trekking tour to the Himalayas ? With the Russian topos you have always a great alternative to other map sources. Beneath the good topography the maps include many small trails and unpaved roads that are missing in other map sets.
The Russian maps have additional English labels.
Attention: The Soviet Military Maps were created mainly in the 80ies and are less interesting for industrialized countries. Outside Africa and Asia you'll find the OSM / Google map layers more useful.
Please note: This app does not provide direct "Turn-by-Turn" navigation - but with a selected waypoint you can easily switch to Google Navigation.

Good app but would love a better index - one that covers even the most obscure afghan villages. The soviets did a great job listing them - shame not to use that. Very useful for humanitarian purposes etc all in a great great map for Afghanistan - invaluable

Great app. I can't believe how comprehensive the maps are. For many countries I have walked through (balkans) these are still the best maps available. One improvement would be the addition of the 1:50,000 maps that the soviets did in certain areas (bulgaria for example)

It is a rubbish app, first of all, it doesn't work on Android 4.4 . I have tried everything to get it to work, also emailed Atlogis with a video of my issue, however, they do not even bother to answer emails which cry out for help to them. I wouldn't recommend this app to anyone,. Especially not to users with Android devices running KitKat.

Has proven to be very useful when hiking on and finding of all sorts of trails. Odd name yes, but essentially a very good client for openstreetmaps and open cycle map and atlogis hillshading.

For certain locations this app (and the Soviet topo maps) could be a life-saver. This app and the associated maps were especially useful for my biking trip in Laos where, at the time (2013), there was not a single other reliable option - save for the SMM.

I use it and found top useful features like tracks recording by smarter mind...colours/size detail settings, also rare relief details, altitude, forest tracks for your bicycle... I use it for my country Romania but also for ...The Alps or Greek islands during holidays...A must have!

Easy to use, all the different map choices are useful and fun to compare. I highly recomend it. I bought the paid version, that should say how much I like it. Told a friend with a Iphone 6 about it. He was unable to find it. Guess that is why I love androids so much. I would recommend a Iphone version be made. Thanks for a cool app. Would like an offline map be available as well.+

I used it all the time during my journey to the most remote areas of Nepal Burma and India and it is overwhelmingly exact in smallest details. It is the greatest topographical masterpiece. I can read Russian and for me it is ideal. Google terrain is complete rubbish, sorry Google I love u but I can not lie. I had problem only once in Chitwan reserve in Nepal when I used GPS it showed me the wrong location, 2 km mistake approximately.

Use this for recording my ATV expeditions. Tracking accuracy is better on my tablet than my HTC ONE S phone. Beware, the Soviet topo maps are very old. Still much better than expensive OS maps! Highly recommended.

I thought this was a great app, it worked so well on my Samsung S3 and I could cache the maps in the pro version to use when out in Georgia (the country). Now however I have the Sony Z5 an the place names are recognised eventually when I search. I get a list of choices for maps, then wait, wait, wait wait....... wait ......wait.... wait...... erm yes, still waiting hours later and have as yet not got it to upload and show me a single map! Even the google street view maps won't load. Really a bit utterly pointless - not sure why the incompatibility with the Sony Z5 but there we have it.
