This app neither translates nor helps with proper ASL grammar. It only gives you the finger spelling for everything. Apparently, the maker of this app assumed deaf people cannot read, since at this point it would be far easier just to show them what you typed.

Love it. And lot of sign don't have sign must finger spell. Very easy take alot time happy to help anytime...:)

It only gives you the letter one at a time. I thought that it would give you the interpretation of one whole word.

Not worth my space

The only use for this app is if you have someone else type in the word, turn off the voiced letter, and you covered the answer with your hand. To be useful, the app would need to present spelled words to you separately from entering them or speaking them to you

It stinks it doesn't show u the real signs it shouldnt even be on the app store

It just fingerspells. I had hoped it would truly covert it into sign language. Too bad.

Don't bother getting it. Its a waste of time

As a nationally certified sign language interpreter, I can assure you this will be of absolutely no help in communicating with a Deaf person. American Sign Language is a complete language with its own unique structure and syntax. Simply transcribing English letters into the manual alphabet is far from what a real interpreter does. This is like considering Yahoo! Answers to be as valid as a peer-reviewed journal article.

This app is ridiculous. Like someone else already commented, why not just let them read what you are saying. This is like two hearing people communicating by saying the letters of each word instead of the actual word.

I installed this just so I could comment. If you are going to type out what you want to say to a deaf person, why not just let them read what you typed? Or write it down. Deaf people can read, ya know...

American Sign Language and finger spelling are not one and the same. Finger spelling in ASL is mostly for proper names and places. This app only trandlates what you are saying into finger spelling right now which is useless a a translation device as the Deaf can read English. This is a great concept IF developed further to include actual ASL words.

If you want to practice finger spelling, this is a great app for it. Would like to see actual signs as well. Keep it up!
