ASUS Router for Android
The app reports "Asus router not found" although I am writing this using it. Apparently the app requires that your SSID is called Asus. Makes no sense being forced to change the SSID just to enable enable a buggy app to work. Used to work in previous versions; not sure why they broke it this time.
It does some basic stuff, but half of my wireless devices shows as wired. Had some issues forcing 5G to work via app
Great app. One problem: it doesn't show any connected devices at all, while the web management page does show them. RT-AC87U used in bridge mode. Running latest firmware on router.
Nice interface. But unable to see the amount of bandwidth consumed by each device and also the websites accessed. Current feature provides total upload and download bandwidth only which is insufficient.
Would not connect to my rt-ac1200g. Held my S5 right next to the router. Still kept telling me it could not find an Asus router.... combine that with the fact that the 1200g has zero native support for VPN, and you wonder why these routers get aby sort of decent review... all i can say is that at least the 1200g is better than the absolutely terrible Rogers Home Gateway modem / router that it is hooked up to.
I recently bought router RT-N14UHP, sadly I can't connect my router to this app. Asus, please do something. I'm expecting more from you
Great app i love how easy it is to access the router settings. If i could ask for one more option it would be a toggle button to turn the vpn settings on and off (or hurry up and release vpn fusion, lol)
Most of the time unable to log in. Always says 'authentication' failed. Always need to uninstall and re-install to make it work. Very annoying.
Been waiting for a year, and still gets no support from ASUS. You guys promised to support RT- AC55UHP but it's still not being supported. Only AC55U but no AC55UHP? Hope to hear from you guys asap, am very disappointed.
Good app, lots of usefull options. One thing I really miss, why traffic manager can't show traffic usage per device? It would be a great feature ...
Great app for controlling usage. My house has 17 devices running all the time. At bed time I can turn off access to kids devices and they know it's time to get ready for bed. I saw a connection I did not recognize on the router, when I disconnected it I here a car drive off from my front yard..this is a great app
Changes to guest access Eg. Bandwidth limitation and internet access when made using the app, cannot be reversed from a browser tab on pc. The app has to opened, and changes have to be reversed from the app only, these systems should be able to work side by side. Would like the ability to assign static IP address to devices through the app. QOS settings should be more detailed, like on the browser. Changes made through the app take a very long time to be applied
Has a few bugs that need to be fixed. Like the devices list does not update itself when the devices are disconnected from the network. Had some problems using the Reboot option as well that did not seem to work most of the times. A lot more complicated to configure compared to the browser interface. In my opinion it needs a complete makeover.
The app has a glitch. When I run network diagnostics, it says modem is offline even though I am online! Streaming is not an issue and I have great downloads speeds! No Internet connection issues at all. Cable provider shows no issues either. Please fix!
I love this app! It is useful, has a nice UI/UX, and is very functional. I initially had an issue where the app would crash, but I emailed them and they fixed it within a day. Great customer service as well! They have great apps, and even better routers!
Very handy app. It comes with a slick UI to boot. I use it often to disconnect devices from the internet (parental controls)-remember to assign static IPS to your devices first. One problem that I noticed is that settings are not always in sync. For ex. If I use the online interface to enable external access, it doesn't get reflected in the app.
After many updates, app still identifies certain clients as "wired clients" even when they were wireless. Using AC3200 router with latest firmware. Basically, after a wireless client disconnects, the app/router displays it as a CONNECTED WIRED client, even though its NOT CONNECTED at all. Even tried latest Merlin firmware, same issue... Will re-rate when issue is fixed. In ASUSWRT admin wired/wireless clients, it shows the same bug. You said you found the root cause, so where's the fix already?!
I found a annoying thing at notifications after taping 'secure your router'. It did the work perfectly BUT at the notification it keeps reminding me about changing my router name and password. I changed the password but I wish not to change the username. Can you make a feature where we can dismiss this? I love this app, keep up the good work!
The app is great, a lot of useful functions within the app so that you don't have to turn on your computer just to change some settings. I hope the developing team will include a feature to turn the VPN Client on or off via the app. Took away 1 star due to the missing VPN function.
Hi my name is Tony I have Asus RT-AC87U router and the latest Firmware version and WiFi connected to my Nexus 5x phone with the Asus router app latest app from play store. The problem is the app does not actually show you how many devices are connected. It only gives you a list of all devices that's been connected in the past. So you don't know what the actual devices are connected to your router at the present. I like the app very much hopefully it will get fixed in the near future thank you guys very much.
Would give it 4 stars at least, but the mobile app won't let me add spaces to passwords. After the app detects a space, it tells me "password too short". Using the browser on my phone gives no error. I will update this rating when that minor issue is fixed.
Connected to my WiFi over 5ghz and couldn't detect either of my routers. Saw a comment about guest networks only working on 2ghz so tried switching over from 5gh to 2ghz (NOTE: I have no guest networks enabled - just normal ones) and it started working (after I manually installed a firmware update) but that's poor... Why does it matter which frequency I use and, if it's a current limitation, why isn't it documented?
The block internet access feature conflicts with the parental controls of the router's web console utility. I set a schedule on the web console and it doesn't go into effect unless I block internet access entirely in the mobile app. This is pointless. The scheduler worked perfectly before installing the mobile app.
I actually really like this app, but it could use a couple of things to refine it. The major thing that needs to be added is the ability to activate/deactivate VPN clients. It would be even better if you could also add/delete/modify VPN clients as well. Also, remote access to the router, with this app, would be great too.
I have emailed Mike on the 15th April with no response. Why is the DSL-N66U not supported? The RT AC66U is supported. I assume the workings is similar. Maybe make a list of devices you looking to support and possibly a time line.
Used to work just fine but now after a couple of updates it can't discover my router. It keeps trying and it keeps failing like a useless pair of orbs. Not happy!
**UPDATE** They messed up the Guest Network feature by changing it to only allow a few fixed time limits. Three hours is the max. I use the guest network when people sleep over and now I can choose higher time limits. I want to be able to set it to 12 or 24 hours and can't now without using the laptop. This is my most frequently used feature in the app. ********** This app is working perfectly with my RT-AC68U router. New updates have improved features, and the minor complaints I had when I first loaded it have all been addressed.
The app is nice. I can do quick settings checks or minor changes that I need to do. However, for some time now I am unable to get the devices to load. That was one of the features that I enjoyed. I liked being able to do a quick glance at signal and ip address to devices on my network. Please fix.
App doesn't really provide any advantage over the web interface, other than maybe loading things a bit faster. They finally released an app for the router but still left out the functionality to manage the download plugin. Also navigational UI could use better organizing in my opinion.
I just tried this app, but for some reason it can't detect my router. I then click on setup, and the app asks me to connect to the Asus wi-fi, which I'm already connected to. So at the moment this app is useless to me.
App worked great with rt ac5300 upgraded to get gt 5300 and even though update says it has support now. It does not. It cannot find it and just times out. Worthless now. Still not working with gt5300
The app does what it says on the box and does it pretty well, but I would like to see a VPN client switch in-app. I connect to different VPNs for different reasons and want to switch clients on/off through the app. Would make my life easier
Seems it lists all devices it has ever seen, not just the ones currently connected. It also wrongly confuses wireless devices with wired devices. The UI looks decent, but most of the functionality is non-functional Al. Too bad, they could have made this work pretty easily.
It's OK I guess. Would be much better if you could change settings such as "Don't ask for changes". It constantly asks me to change my credentials and to select a better wifi signal AC, which is the only one I am already connected to. The constantly asking me to change settings I have already changed is upsetting me. If this was fixed I would give it more stars.
Too many times the app refuses to connect to the router. Difficult to control device access to internet as smoothly as i would want. Would like to see blocked devises all together. Wireless devices appear as wired. Unable to access app blocked device on laptop connected via Lan.
Have not been able to sign in the past couple of days. It always says not authorized, even tried to reinstall but no success.
I have the RT-AC66U router. It shows 'wireless' devices as 'wired' when they're turned off while the app is still on. I have to open the browser version (while the app is still on in the background) and 'View List' for my Client's to update here in the app. Pull down refresh in the app doesn't work. I'm using this on my Samsung Galaxy Tab S & Moto X Play. My router's firmware is up to date. Having to use the browser defeats the purpose of this. Hope it gets fixed. And the newest update did nothing to fix these issues
I tried logging on the app using the same details I use when logging on through the web browser (192.168.1.1) But it keeps saying authentication failed. Yet it works on the browser. Can anyone assist
I have never been able to see any devices wired or wireless on my RT-AC87U with this app. It would be great if I could, but I can't because it doesn't work.
by Q####:
Authentication failed. How does any half matured company release a product that cannot login? What kind of quality control should one have to achieve this level of software maturity?
