About Embossing
Embossing and debossing are the processes of creating either raised or recessed relief images and designs in paper and other materials.
An embossed pattern is raised against the background, while a debossed pattern is sunken into the surface of the material (but might
protrude somewhat on the reverse, back side).
Leather crafting or simply Leathercraft is the practice of making leather into craft objects or works of art, using shaping techniques , coloring techniques or both.
Sheet metal embossing is a stamping process for producing raised or sunken designs or relief in sheet metal. This process can be made by means of matched male and female roller dies, or by passing sheet or a strip of metal between rolls of the desired pattern.
It is often combined with Foil Stamping to create a shiny, 3D effect.
Image embossing is a computer graphics technique in which each pixel of an image is replaced either by a highlight or a shadow, depending on light/dark boundaries on the original image. Low contrast areas are replaced by a gray background. The filtered image will represent the rate of color change at each location of the original image. Applying an embossing filter to an image often results in an image resembling a paper or metal embossing of the original image, hence the name.
