Arriva m-ticket for Android
Welcome to a new way to get on board Arriva buses, available across the UK (except London).
You can now purchase your Day, Weekly, 4-Weekly or Annual Saver ticket using your mobile phone. It's quick, easy and hassle-free.
- Convenient
Buy your m-ticket when it suits you. You could be sitting on the sofa or at your work desk. There's no need to nip to the cash point just to fund a bus trip.
- Easy
Once set up, it's a doddle to buy from your mobile.
- Fast
Save time. When others are fumbling for change, you simply show the driver your m-ticket on your mobile screen.
- Value
The m-ticket service itself is free - you only pay for your actual m-ticket.
- Secure
It’s totally secure and uses a highly secure AES 256 bit encryption. Your card
details are not held on your handset or Arriva servers, but use servers that meet
PCI-DSS security standards.
Fix it please. People are paying to use the app, so it needs to work. Not keep crashing every time I load it.
Go to activate the tickets and every now and again it just disappears and now there is no options to buy a new ticket. Alot better than the old version but still needs some fixing
downloaded this app today thinking that it might help me through my journeys, however it fails to even send me a pin code so I can't even get onto the app, arriva get this sorted now or take it down from the store seriously!!! DO NOT INSTALL!!!
Like the website this app 'looks pretty', but makes it very difficult for me to buy the exact ticket I'm looking for and doesn't have a search or renew option for tickets.
Bought a day ticket and activated it and all was fine, when I wanted to use it the app would just crush and not go pass the opening screen. Ended up having to buy ticket on the bus which was really annoying. Also everytime I buy a new ticket I need to put in all card details so no time saved there.
Yeah, would be handy if it saved my bank details or if it was possibility to pay by PayPal but I'm sure they are not gonna do that! Also I wish they could introduce a 30 day pass rather than 4 week one. Just leaves a few awkward days having to pay other fares before my next pay day!
It connects to Internet when ever loaded and as all buses have WiFi now it wont load ticket when you get on the bus as you have to turn WiFi off or go through the troible of connecting (as theres no auto sign in like cloud) to the horrible arriva WiFi which would have been a nice feauture 7 years ago, but its 2015 and everyone has 20gb 4g
I've had the arriva-m app installed for a few months now with it's slow and unresponsive behaviour offset by the fact that I could still purchase and use the tickets. Now the app can't succesfully purchase tickets, assuming it to be a conflict between my phone and the app, I removed the app with the intention of installing it fresh and logging in with my old details. There is no option for logging in to an existing account ( somewhat of an oversight...) and no pins are being sent for new accounts...
Occasionally have issues with the app not loading straight away causing delays boarding. However more stable than it used to be - used it for 4yrs now! Only gripe is the card payment screen is not very mobile friendly. Small boxes & entering card number should come up with a number pad not the full keyboard.
When i first run the app its fine however if i shut the app down and go to reload it i seem to have to restart my phone. Arriva please sort this out i cant be doing this when i litterally have 2 mins to change buses!!!
To start with, this app is ugly and non intuitive. It looks so obsolete my eyes hurt. I think this app needs a UI and UX overhaul asap!
I try to get a ticket for my region and it's coming up with none at all. This has been happening for at least a month now. Which means I have to order a pass online and wait for it to be delivered but in the mean time I have to spend more money on fares until it gets here! This is poor. Sort it out arriva
For the last week this app keeps stalling, disappearing not bring up options for purchase let alone complete purchases. Always had no problems with app but lately whatever updates it has had since Christmas have been terrible and will not work. Fix this!!!
Have tried this for 2 weeks. I like the idea of it but twice the app has crashed on me and I have had to pay extra fare. So not too impressed.
I can't count how many times i have bought a ticket on here for it to just disappear five minutes later. If it hasn't swallowed your money up then it's freezing before you can load your ticket. It's absolutely terrible and it's ruined so many mornings. Unless you fancy paying twice for a ticket which will not exist 30 seconds after purchase, buy a paper ticket. Absolutely awful.
Everytime you guys make a new feature it completely breaks the app. Apparently you now sell no ticket types in my area. A completely useless app as I can't do the ONLY thing I installed it for.
Not all tickets are available to buy! Tried to get 2 tickets 1adult 1child but only the adult one was available. Yet on other routes child tickets are available. Needed child peak return ticket on another route and only off-peak was available to buy yet I could buy peak adult on the same route. Rubbish app best to pay in cash on the spot when taking their bus.
The convenience of not having to carry a paper ticket around for a week or month is greatly outweighed by the fact the app is very buggy. Often fails to open unless I restart my phone (and this has been on 2 phones, I just upgraded); occasionally opens but does not show my ticket, again requiring a restart; and has failed to open at all so I cannot get on the bus (this was so bad that on 2 occasions I had to buy a ticket whilst having a valid 4 week ticket on my phone). It would be nice to step up to an annual ticket held electronically but the thought of the potential problems means that this is a no-go. Right now I can't even get it to offer me tickets to purchase, despite having a great signal. It seems the issues the app has are not ones that it should have. It has been around for several years sp Arriva have had plenty of time to iron out the bugs, but it seems to get worse.
Must be one of the worst apps I've come across. Doesn't work, just goes around in circles giving infamation on how the thing is supposed to work. Don't waste your time installing
Bought a 4 week ticket for my phone for the first time and the driver threatened to put me off the bus after one stop if I couldn't get the ticket to work at the second stop! Nice Day 2 crashed again and driver demanded payment on service no 2 milton keynes. Not good enough Arriva. Paid £2.20 on top of the £50 paid for a mobile ticket that doesn't work. Bus driver couldn't tell me who to complain to.
Downloaded to purchase tickets, registered my details, waited for a text with my pin code so I can buy tickets. nothing, requested a resent pin, nothing. Waited over night, nothing. so I have no pin, can't buy any tickets. Online chat doesn't work either, and I don't have time to sit on the phone to someone on a premium rate. Well done arriva, you've done the impossible and made something worse than your bus services.
It won't let me buy tickets anymore. Just gets stuck at the ticket type page (adult/child/student etc)
Works great, last time it wasn't showing region so called customer service and they reset my account and all started to work fine. Brilliant life saver
Think I found what has been causing my crashes... It appears to happen when my phone connects to the bus WiFi and I haven't gone through the sign in steps. Keep WiFi turned off when your going for a bus. If you forget and do get the black screen, turn WiFi off and clear the app cache. Hope this helps some of you! Arriva please look at this bug.
No tickets show up to purchase. It goes as far as asking whether adult, child etc,but then does nothing.
I thought this was a great idea sadly no more than that as it doesn't work so I can't even try it out.
Being able to buy and store my ticket on my phone is really useful, especially as I don't use cash very often. The four week ticket is especially useful, as it saves me the best part of £40 a month compared to daily tickets. However, the app is prone to crashing or not opening properly every now and then, which is a bit of an issue when you're trying to board a bus! Luckily the drivers seen to be used to it so far, and have been happy for me to show them my ticket when I get off the bus instead.
This app *did* have a lot of problems and was very frustrating but with every update these problems have faded into the past. This app is very good now.
It's good in the effect of not necessarily needing to carry change around for the bus and everything, yet sometimes I tap on the app and it just sits with the app screen. Sometimes I choose by a new ticket and no options load for the ticket I want to buy (day/week etc). The issue with the loading is not only an issue, but becomes more annoying when my particular bus is roughly one every 40mins to an hour
Can no longer buy tickets which means the app is now useless. Once selected a ticket it does not load the next stage. V. Annoying. Great when it works otherwise pointless.
App says my phone is incompatible, then lags and freezes my entire phone for 10 mins. Plus it asks for root access....... I even relented and gave it root access and it still does not work. Worthless worthless worthless.
Fine when it works for few weeks then crashes and lose ticket. They do refund straight away if you ring them. Have reloaded the app three times in six weeks
This is a nice idea but it the app is too unreliable to be of practical use. The app can fail to start up, even when it was already running when the phone went to sleep. When you turn the phone back on rather than the ticket display activity staying active, it exits (and the app can crash when restarting). The app does not need a connection to work, you cannot blame the problems on a poor connection, they are simply caused by poor programming.
This app can be pretty useless as it has a mind of its own and is just as reliable as the Arriva bus service. Most times it'll work but it has a tendency to just not show up and leave you stranded. Even purchasing a ticket can be a challenge. Sometimes it'll leave you staring at a blank Arriva green screen wondering how you're going to get home, while other times you type in your card info and you're locked out for ten minutes while the app has a smoke break then finally decides the payment isn't acceptable
Galaxy S6 - only loading about 1 in 5 times. Even then when load it crashes. Would never use it to buy a ticket as you could not be sure you would then be able to use the ticket
I used it for 3-4 months with no issues. Seriously I started thinking that all the comments below are fake etc. But today I wanted to buy a ticket and it's still showing empty screen after choosing a city...
Absolutely fuming. £90 wasted. Got it this morning. Ticket not there. Phone up arriva. They treat me like an actual idiot suggesting I haven't put my phone number. I have. So. They push the ticket through. I finally have one. Come home. Ticket gone AGAIN. Nowhere to be seen I've followed their advice uninstalled, reinstalled. Reregistered 5 times. WHERE IS MY TICKET. ROBBING ME OF £90. PLEASE TELL ME HOW ON EARTH I AM SUPPOSED TO GET TO WORK NOW WITH NO TICKET. Oh and to make it even worse. Offices closed.
When it works, it works fine. But there are multiple issues, not least in that the app developers have gone out of their way to make it awkward to use: - Why can't we pay through Google Play? - Can't save payment data - Entering payment information each time fiddly on a phone screen. Payment processing pages need to be reformatted for mobile users. - If payment fails (e.g. mistype a number) you have to wait five minutes to try again. - As app won't save payment information, what is the pin number for? Especially as it's then sent to you as plain text in an SMS. - For that matter, why do we need to register at all? Add to this a general sluggishness to the UX (not great it you're rushing to get the bus!), and a bug that requires frequent fresh installs to remedy, and the whole things becomes frustrating. But, as noted above, when it works it works okay and saves me having to get to cash machine/get change etc. and am happy to use it for day or week tickets. If I was buying monthly or yearly tickets there is no way I would trust this app.
Before update 1 * , after as you can see. App is stable and user friendly. It looks like arriva team works hard on this app. Thank you for good work.

Been using the app for months and it's been great, but my last weekly ticket just expired and when I tried to buy a new one the app won't let me..there are no selectable options for buying a new ticket and uninstalling and reinstalling the app solved absolutely nothing. Guess it's back to loose change for me. :(
