The rapid growth of international trade has created a global village where air transport assumes great importance in the transportation of goods. This is especially true of high yield items and perishable goods. It also helps reduce high inventory-carrying cost. Air Cargo Industry is a direct pointer to the prosperity of a country. The prospects for the Air Cargo Industry in India has grown manifold over the past few years. The rapid growth of international trade and merchandise export has resulted in boosting the prospects of the Air Cargo Industry in India. India’s growing might in the Information Technology, large scale liberalization and globalisation of trade have been instrumental in the growth of the Air Cargo Industry. Moreover, the purchasing power and the consumption pattern of the one million middle class people in the country has undergone a vast change which has a bearing on the growth of the Air Cargo Industry.
Shippers form the most important constituent of the supply-chain in any transport system. Realising this importance, AIR CARGO INDIA 2014 would lay special focus exclusively on air shippers. India’s growing merchandise export has created enterprising shippers of various high-yield items, pharmaceuticals and perishable items. India’s export in 2011-12 stood at USD 303.7 billion, registering a growth of 20.9% over the previous year. AIR CARGO INDIA 2014 will provide an ideal platform for interaction between various links in the supply chain with focus on the air shippers.
Air Shippers Forum consisting of representatives from high yield shippers/ exporters, freight forwarders and regulators of textile, perishables, gem & jewelry, engineering & electronic goods will take place on 5th February, 2014. The panel will also see representatives from Director General of Foreign Trade, Chief Commissioner of Customs, Mumbai, Agricultural & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) and others.
Pharma Shippers’ Forum co-hosted by Schiphol Cargo and event organizer STAT Times will take place on 4th February. It has been designed to bring pharma shippers, freight forwarders and logistics providers, airlines, handling agents and others together to discuss the special needs of the sector, the airfreight industry’s response to date, and how the industry can fully exploit this valuable evolving market in the future.
The 5th biennial International networking Air Cargo Event, AIR CARGO INDIA 2014, organized by STAT Times from 4-6, February, 2014 would be yet another occasion for the international trading fraternity to assess and avail of the opportunities in this sphere. The very fact that this biennial event has been attracting overwhelming response ever since its inception in 2006 is a pointer not only to the popularity of the event, but also to the opportunities in India.
