About Arcus Dictionary Pro
Arcus Dictionary Pro is a fast English dictionary with 185000+ words, definitions and synonyms available offline.
There are two pro versions, one paid and one supported by ADS. This is the paid version with no ADS.
The pro versions have extra features compared to the basic free version: search web dictionaries, voice search, random word widget, 10,000+ more definitions and sample sentences where available.
It is designed to be easy to use and give you the top and most common results for your query. All you need to do is start typing to get results instantly. By default the more probable matches are displayed first although there is an option to display results purely alphabetically too.
The dictionary also supports pronunciations for definitions, a favourites feature, word hyperlinking, sharing and customisation options.

I installed this and was prompted to install the text to speech database (Samsung TTS UK English). It worked fine on my Galaxy S4. The text to speech option then failed. I wrote to the author about the problem, but no reply. I have uninstalled/re-installed the app and the speech database and gone through all options but the problem still prevails. Would give it 5 stars if the speech worked and the author was responsive.

Does what it is supposed to do in that it doesn't require connectivity to work - even the add-supported version (unlike some other dictionaries). The user interface is snappy and it contains definitions for a large number of words.

The best gives you everything related to the word you searched if this was a paper dictionary it would be very big and heavy! Paid version is far better not just for us who hate adverts but because you get far more content including voice recognition 10,000+ more words and numerous other functions THE VERY BEST!

Very helpful, a must for myself, if unsure of spelling as long as able to spell first few letters of word that I'm looking up, word options pop up automatically, very extensive database of words, IU already simple & elegant, perhaps could be tweaked to have ICS-like features :)
