Pada hakikatnya berdoa diawali dengan bersholawat adalah bertawassul dengan orang yang sudah wafat

Anas bin Malik r.a meriwayatkan bahwa Nabi Muhammad shallallahu alaihi wasallam bersabda: “Tiada doa kecuali terdapat hijab di antaranya dengan di antara langit, hingga bershalawat atas Nabi shallallahu alaihi wasallam, maka apabila dibacakan shalawat Nabi, terbukalah hijab dan diterimalah doa tersebut, namun jika tidak demikian, kembalilah doa itu kepada pemohonnya“.

Bahkan berdoa hanya dengan bertawassul dengan sholawat dapat terpenuhi segala keinginan karena pada hakikatnya Allah Maha Mengetahui

Ubayy bin Ka’ab Al-Anshary ra, berkata, “Jika seperempat malam telah berlalu, Rasulullah saw biasanya bangun seraya berseru, “Hai manusia! Ingatlah kepada Allah, karena hari kiamat pasti akan tiba. Jika kamu tambah, itu lebih baik.” Ubay melanjutkan bertanya, “Sepertiga?” Nabi lagi-lagi menjawab, “Terserah. Jika kamu tambah, itu lebih baik.” Ubay kembali bertanya, “Setengah?” Nabi menjawab, “Sesukamu, jika ditambah akan lebih baik.” Ubay bertanya lagi, “Bagaimana jika kutambah dua pertiga?” Nabi menjawab, “Terserah. Jika kamu tambah lebih baik.” Ubay melanjutkan, “Ya Rasulullah, akan kugunakan seluruh hariku untuk bershalawat kepadamu.” Nabi menjawab, “Kalau begitu, keinginanmu akan dicukupi dan dosamu akan diampuni Allah Subhanau wa Ta’ala.”

Para Sahabat ketika duduk dalam shalat (tahiyyat), bertawasul dengan menyebut nama-nama orang-orang sholeh yang telah wafat maupun dengan para malaikat namun Rasulullah shallallahu alaihi wasallam mengajarkan untuk menyingkatnya menjadi “Assalaamu’alaina wa’alaa ‘ibaadillaahish shoolihiin”, maka hal itu sudah mencakup seluruh hamba-hamba Allah yang sholeh baik di langit maupun di bumi“ Bersholawat is bertawassul with people who have died
