NissanConnect℠ EV for Android
As so many others say, this app is very, very slow. Additionally, it *really* needs a widget or two. 95% of the time I'm just trying to turn on the climate control before I reach my car, which is 'Start App --> Wait for initial screen load (20~30 seconds) --> Tap the 'Fan' icon --> Wait for Remote Climate Control screen (10~15 seconds) --> Tap 'Turn Climate Control On'. All-in-all, about a minute for which a simple one-tap Widget would work great. Oh, and don't mind that my app thinks it hasn't updated my car data since Oct. 23 (2-1/2 months ago), despite using the climate control several times...
Getting this app to even function at all is like trying to explain electric cars to a climate change denier. Nissan couldn't care less about their Leafs and this app. I tend to think it's programmed to never work on purpose. They only want to sell 15 MPG Titans.
The app is so slow! 99% of the time, I just want to turn my climate control on a few minutes before heading out to my car when leaving work. It takes a long time to open up the home screen. Then, it takes a long time to switch to the climate control screen. Then, you hit the "turn climate control on" button, and it takes a long time. I can't wait until I get a different EV that has a working app.
It was slow before update, now its has stopped working since. Upon login, it just spins the refresh forever. If you exit and come be into the app, it wont let you log in, forcing you to logout and in again. PLEASE FIX!!!
What kind of architecture are you running on the backend? Is a person *manually* updating my data when I hit the refresh button? Because with as slow as it is, it sure feels like it. Wish I could see the new updates... oh wait, I can't log in. And since I've failed three times, my account is now locked and I have to use a desktop pc to unlock my account. Seriously, just NOT having an app would be less frustrating. Nissan, I need to buy another electric car in a year..the app WILL be a factor in the decision
I just want to play my Bluetooth on my car stereo and you make me go through all this crap you ask me all these questions you asked me the cars and you ask me phone number excetera excetera this is unacceptable I hate this.
It seemed like it used to be a solid system, however since completely reworking the app due to some security concerns, they've completely trashed it. Updates slow, buggy interface. What did you do Nissan, hire some washed up 90's Java programmers?
Still so slow and your lucky if it connects and works. Would be nice if it would work so you could turn on the climate control but alas NO. After the new upgrade to 3 g worked for about two months now won't connect just endless failure.
As a smart phone user, this application performs poorly, even with the new 3G module upgrade last Dec 2016 in the vehicle. The update arrow runs all the time, is this expected.? Once updated, I would expect this to stop. Retrieving the vehicle information from desktop computer is more reliable and provides a indication in % to update completion. The problem is clearly to do with mobile application and interaction to web. The desktop and vehicle are working OK. Google should have star this USELESS..
The app was always slow but now it doesn't work at all. It just spins trying to update
Edit: doesn't work anymore. Even tried unistalling and reinstalling. It just refreshes forever. If I log into the Nissan Connect website, all the data is there.
Often says user name password are invalid even though it is correct so basically can't log in till it gets over being stupid. Happens far too often.
You would think that a $50,000 car would come with software that didn't constantly fail. This app works about 15% of the time, but don't expect much when it actually is working, it usually takes about 15 minutes to even connect with the car. Surprised at the wretched quality, considering Nissan is usually on top of things
And they have made no attempt to fix it.
Unclear what "bug fixes" in latest release; constant login problems since update, no changes as regards issues i had with previous release either, i.e. Limited features; slow; dated visual styling (3-dot menu button that does nothing). Most annoyingly, you may need close the app altogether before reopening it, otherwise you're logged out (Issue, and workaround, reported - response indicates no fix planned).
Really slow to update to the point of not being useful. I've let it sit on the table for 10 minutes and it doesn't update. It is faster to use a browser and log in to the portal that way.
Too sluggish to be of any value. Nissan doesn't even to pretend they care about this app.
Essential application but this one is useless as it simply does not work. If you need the features this app offerer for your EV and you are still deciding which EV to purchase look at manufacturers other than Nissian. My mistake for not doing more research prior to buying my LEAF last month.
Slow is an understatement. It's also not stable. Constantly displays errors messages and I have to completely shut the app down and re-start it to get back signed in.
This app has never been great, it always used to take 15-60 seconds to perform any action, but at least it used to work. Now, after the most recent update, nothing works. If I try to refresh the SoC the little arrow just spins around infinitely. If I try to turn on the climate control, it will say "request sent" but then I'll get in my car and it'll be ice cold, having clearly not turned on the heater. I really liked the features this app offered. Nissan, please fix this!!
Everything in the app requires "sending request please wait" to be displayed. However latest update had significantly improved the speed. Only takes a few seconds now versus up to thirty before. Getting better hopefully?
Needs work! Perpetual log in issues and the app doesn't do much.
This is easily the most unreliable app on my phone. Since the last update, I can connect 10% of the time. Pretty poor for an app that is so important. Time to look for an alternative.
It won't update charge status after refreshing. I can get state of current charge if I use route planner and have it update there.....smh.
After paying Nissan $200. For a new telematics unit in our LEAF, we are still shut down from communication and remote control. Nissan will not be on our list next time around
This app is currently a waste of space and doesn't work at all. Stuck on loading screens for days. Never buying a nissan again because of this.
Hate this app. Nissan this just sucks. Finally work on it
This app is so comically bad it's almost useless! Normal interactions with the server such as login or changing a page take 20-40 seconds on average. When it has to update something with the status of your car, prepare for at least a 45 second to two minute wait... assuming it even works! Plan to use this to turn on your climate control, start/stop charging, etc.? Don't!!! It's not reliable and often comes back with vague messages saying it may or may not have worked. Either way, it's often quicker for me to walk from my desk out to the parking lot and do whatever I was trying to do than do it through this app anyway! For something I really wanted to like, and wanted to be able to use, this whole package (app/Nissan/Carwings) is incredibly disappointing. If Nissan hopes to actually charge money for this one day, they have a LONG way to go in improving it!
Takes forever to do anything. Rarely will update my car. I love the idea but it doesn't work.
Works about half the time and when it does it's super slow. I do have the new TCU and it hasn't made anything better. Nissan, give up and hire some that can make this work.
Well, sometimes it works, and when it does it is helpful so you can see how charged your car is and whether you need to unplug it or not. But usually it doesn't work, it just crashes or hangs forever and in those cases it would be faster to physically walk to your car and check. It also behaves strangely and will give you random error messages periodically that go away if you force quit the app and restart. I still use the app, even though it is clunky and infuriating, because those few times that it does work are pretty good. And there isn't really any alternative (despite how I wish there was).
Zero stars if that were an option. It takes way too long to refresh status from the car. Crashes when the refresh takes too long. Sometimes it just crashes. "The service cannot be provided" or it complains that the user/password are incorrect when they're not. Do yourself a favour and buy a Bluetooth ODBC2 adapter and use leafspy instead.
Worked a couple times and that was about ut. A waste if time. I spent $200 to upgrade transmitter in my Leaf as suggested by dealer. Waste of time and money.
Won't refresh since update. Poor customer service. UPDATE: Seems to be fixed now 11/14/16. Don't know what they did, since the app wasn't updated.
Need to refresh the state of charge more than once to get the actual information. I have even had the app tell me the information was updated at a future date and time and shows 0% state of charge when the car had more charge when plugged in and is currently charging. The app also needs to be closed and restarted from time to time on my Galaxy S7 to be able to access the Nissan Connect network.
Awful app! Shame on the developers who pushed this sub-standard and seriously flawed app out to production. It times out 99.5% of the time. Unusable.
App will no longer allow me to log in. Android Force Z
Ridiculously slow and poorly layed out user interface - I only use it b/c there are no options.
This app has been updated after Nissan had disabled for month. They did not notify their customers. Our Nissan dealer was also not told about this. The app is up and running now, but it is still as slow as molasses. It often cannot connect.

I've tried to use this app to track my mileage, wattage, and efficiency while driving but it does not update. It is very slow and cumbersome. Additionally, Nissan just disconnected all 2011 and 2012 Leaf models because of an outdated 2G telematics control unit (TCU). It will cost $200 to replace with a new unit. No thanks.
