Orlando Sentinel for Android
OS slowly dying with skimpy new Calendar Section as of Feb 17. Plus app is a 2-Star loser without a companion paid subscription which then gives you full news access. A paid subscription also allows you to receive a nicely formatted full print with graphics newspaper edition by email around 5:30 each morning, bypassing the app altogether. I find this preferable and am really enjoying this convenient Orlando Sentinel feature. (Be patient during the sometimes tedious email setup and learning curve...but for me worth it.)
Quirky and unreliable.H ire a decent developer and you will remove the bugs. You must outsource the app services.
Slowest news app, period?
The idea of this app is very, very good. There are so many glitches and issues, however, I only give it two stars (and I've been using it for YEARS, well before the new formats). Enjoy it, but expect lots of waiting, videos that DO work but then ones that don't, and several other issues. UPDATE 11/20/16: OS appears to have fixed most of the glitches. It's still sometimes too slow (especially loading "saved" articles), but there has been enough improvement for me to change my rating to four stars.
The app will give you almost what's on the physical paper. Most of the notes seems to be 'cliff notes'. That's where they need to work on.
Good and up to date with local news. Nice and concise - not too wordy. Keep uo the great work!
They want to charge you for this information, but nobody else does. News is not up to date for breaking news. Quality of what they put on here is poor.
Orlando sentinel
Don't give up your day job.
.... It's still constantly updating. The circles round and round endlessly. Subscription cancelled.....It is constantly updating, so you can only get a few stories at a time while the little circles turn and turn... Crap. This newspaper is such a sad shell of its former glory. And someone should really get them to define the difference between "top stories" and "breaking news". The identical stories are in each section. Pointless. The local TV stations cover the same stories, albeit with less depth.
There are way too many ads for a paid subscription. I like to scan the news stories but I keep getting the stupid pizza hut ads, the beach ad, and a couple other constantly in the feed. I can take a couple ads but seeing the same ad in my face 20 to 30 times in a course of 10 minutes scrolling through the stories if to much. Use Google or the ap for your news.
I get Orlando News as it happens with very little drain on my phone resources.
I love the Orlando Sentinel, but this app has sucked since day 1!! EXTREMELY slow response time. Ads appear over the article text even though I'm logged on as a paid digital subscriber. Sometimes it just goes wacky with the articles going over each other when I scroll. If the Internet version of the paper wasn't so hard to see on my phone, I'd uninstall this in a heartbeat! Please invest a little money in a competent programmer & give this app a COMPLETE face-lift! Please!
Slow loading times. Horrible liberal slant on everything, reading level of a below average fifth grader.
Lets face it.. the Newspaper biz in America is broke. This Orlando Sentinel app lets you read 10 premium stories then it offers you monthly rates to continue. Nerds can simply go System Setting, Apps, find OS, Clear cache, settings etc. The app will start over allowing 10 stories. Then repeat process if you desire to. Online, in your browser its all free! Go figure...
what's the point of having a news app if you can't even access ANYTHING without a paid subscription? might as well price this app at $9.99 and save us all the time it takes to download and then immediately uninstall it..
I really enjoy this paper because it goes more in depth than the other news organizations. I went ahead and subscribed. It has paid off nicely.
Use to be better, but better than nothing.
I have used this app ever since I've had a smart phone, about six years. I thought the content was unbiased which is the reason I chose it. Now after the recent update I can only read 10 articles before I have to pay!?! Looks like I'll be moving on.... Sad greed has takin over!!
There appears to be no logic to display of stories.
Recent update makes all articles premium. It's one thing to make columnist content premium. But every single piece of news? No thanks. UPDATE: They released another update, but now, instead of all articles being considered premium (a likely mistake), you are now only able to view 10 articles a month for free. So essentially no change but to confirm that the app is worthless. I'll be going to a new source for news I guess.
I subscribe because I want to read local Orlando news, but this app is sub-par. My main gripe is that content is very poorly organized. It's like no one is bothering to figure out what constitutes top news vs. breaking news. The same story appears multiple times with different dates. Sometimes photos appear with no text. Sometimes a photo icon that shows up in story link does not show up in larger form when you open up the story. Compared to other newspaper apps, this one sucks.
I have 4 prints delivered to my home which i pay for. Now i cant even read the news on my phone. What a garbage update. Fire the genious who thought of this. I would give it a 0 but the app doesnt allow me to do so. FIX IT!
This app sucked when you could read the news for free. Now the app is great but you have to pay to read the news stories which are not written very well to begin with.
Waste. Even though I subscribe to the print Orlando Sentinel, I can't read the articles. Uninstalled!
What to hell orlando sentinel??? Now all stories are premium and I can only read 10 a month??? Or I can pay extra to read everything.... nope, I'll just continue to use the other free Florida news apps. Big mistake on your part to change to this format. I'm sure your traffic is going to nosedive now!

made all stories premium stories .... hurry up and fix or just get my news some where else . you ruined this app deleting app
Every story is premium? Well that means none of them are quality. I'll just use a tv news app or something else. Says I've read 10 articles this month. I haven't read one. Wish I could give minus stars.

News from a week ago is premium? C'mon fellows, old news should hardly be considered premium.
I read my 10 free stories in February, it is now March 5th and it is saying I have already read my 10 free stories but I have yet to read one in March!
Hint: Uninstall then reinstall the app to restart the counter. All articles are premium and the counter did not restart in December.
But I am a print subscriber logged into my unlimited digital account on my phone. Why can't this app tell that all the articles should be "free" for me? The same account works on the website just fine.
They should just charge for the app. You need to pay to read the news.
Why in the world would I pay for this?? There are so many, way better news apps. I only had this to begin with because it was free, not because it was good.
That suck ..not free..just moving on to other local new that are free...................... FOX 35 IS FREE
Now they charge to read every article after 10....why would anyone do that when they can google it and find the same story somewhere else for free?

I use it for breaking news. I subscribe to the full edition. I find it slow to respond.
