安土桃山時代から江戸時代初期にかけての武将『真田幸村（信繁）』。
史料に残る名は、信繁。
若き日に、上杉景勝、豊臣秀吉の人質として暮らす。
関ヶ原の戦いでは西軍につき、高野山に幽閉。
大坂の陣では、真田丸と呼ばれる砦を作り、徳川家康軍を相手に果敢に戦う。大坂夏の陣にて戦死。

2016年1月より、NHK大河ドラマ「真田丸」放送。
