The locations of these Cafes and Restaurants are stored on your phone, so that you can find them even without internet access.
You can list all cafes near your current GPS location or select a city / neighborhood by name or postal code.

The app provides an overview map with offline cache, allowing you to view the map without internet connection.
Just select the menu option Overview Map on the WiFi Spot List Screen when you have an internet connection. The app will then store this map on your device so that you can later also view it without internet access.
The WiFi Spot Details screen provides a menu option to view the WiFi spot location on Google Maps or on the Overview Map. But only the Overview Map can be used without internet access.

Downloaded to find WiFi hot spots during a recent European vacation. Yep you can get a list of hotspots while not connected. Unfortunately trying to actually locate those hotspots requires a connection to get a map.

Great app however hotspot database is not up to date. I traveled to Cancun in Mexico and none of the "free" Wi-Fi hotspots in the Hotel Zone listed in this app were free (e.g., Starbucks, McDonald's). I do like that hotspots are shown on maps that can be made available offline.

Long time user first time reviewer. Prevents many expensive phone company megabytes and costly overages. Helps me patronize the cafés that offer free wifi. And avoid the ones that are crap or won't let you recharge. Edit: still using, still great. Amazing there are so few 'reviews.

It does what it is suposed to do but I think there are a couple features which should be implemented urgently: -Enable the user to search near a specific location in the map (preferrably by pointing on it) -Show the nearest wifi hotspots in the map. Not only the one you choose.
